I got real petty over on the Facebook page and IT WAS GLORIOUS.
This is me, going to check out Legendary Books now…
Publisher: We think that the way the fantasy genre treats women is problematic so we’re going to try and do better
A Fool: If you don’t like it why don’t you make your own!
Publisher: That
That is literally what we just said we are doing
GUESS WHO’S BACK, BIGOTED FUCKWADS?
BOY it feels good to be back in this particular saddle!
AHAHAHAHAHA we have a winner for today!
*Snort*
if anybody like me a) lol’d and b) wanted to get my hands on that book series, here’s the link
This is magically what I’m looking for right now.
Hi Legendary Books, I’ll take one of everything.
I literally don’t have the space for any more physical books, but I’ve downloaded every Underrealm book on Kindle. I read The Alchemist’s Touch specifically because of this post and I seriously can’t recommend the Underrealm books enough. they are absolutely fantastic.
I don’t really read anymore, not like i used to. And of i get a masters this year like i am planning to then that isn’t going to change. But hell yes I’m going to go and buy these books because THIS is exactly the kind of thing that i want to support!
YISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
One day I will have a job and a bank account and I will have money from the job in the bank account and I will use some of the money to purchase these books
HEY TUMBLR
You’ve always been wonderful to me, twisted little hellsite though you be. Now check this out.
Do you like wizards? Do you like girlfriends?
Do you like WIZARD GIRLFRIENDS?
(Of course you fucking do)
Stick your entire face into a fantasy adventure where two kickass lesbians of color magic the shit out of every asshole they see
Support a queer disabled author
And do it for a buck.
A BUCK
And this is INTERNATIONAL
A bunch of people out there don’t think books like this can ever be successful.
Fucken prove them wrong, babes.
I made this into a video:
Hey, we’ve now got some pride shirts if that’s your thing:
You can choose your role: KNIGHT, RANGER, THIEF, or WIZARD, and every one comes with iconography drawn from our books.
And then we created shirts for every queer identity we could think of:
Bi Knight? Got you covered. Trans Thief? You’re in there. Pan Wizard? Yup. Agender Ranger? Absolutely.
And if we missed your identity or your flag, just message me. I’ll get it added ASAP.
Half of all profits go to our designer, an awesome local queer dude.
The other half go towards editing, covers, and production of future queer books by queer authors.
Another good fantasy book to read is Emperor’s Edge by Lindsey Buroker! The main character is a badass female and while her world is dominated by males she doesn’t let that stop her. She kicks ass and is the boss
Lindsay is a fellow indie author and an absolute wonder. I’ve enjoyed every book of hers I’ve ever read, and she’s a delight to speak to.
As far as it goes for indie authors with kickass queer books, everyone should check out Dreadnought and Sovereign by April Daniels. They are two books in a trilogy about a trans girl who becomes a superhero and obtains her dream body through weirdly magical means. They are great books and I love my feral trans daughter Danny.
Oh also she kicks terfs in the face. If that doesn’t sell it I don’t know what will.
April Daniels’ books are the single most captivating books I’ve read this year. I sat down in my chair intending to start Dreadnought and then I stayed up till 3AM to read it in one sitting.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, go read it.
