being with tom during a blackout during the summer and camping out in the backyard and making out softly under the stars ahhh

forgive me for letting this sit in my ask box for months ily

it was another boring saturday night. you, your boyfriend and his bestfriend sat on the couch binging netflix movies with tessa curled up by the coffee table. 

as the three of you were well-into the climax of an episode, the lights flickered before all the power shut off at the same time. 

your heart spiked, everything suddenly becoming dark – including the illumination from outside. the two boys produced groans, knowing this was another los angeles blackout that could last for hours.

as tom phoned someone, you walked to the back glass door with tessa following. the city was blacked out as well, the moon lighting up the sky behind it.  

“it looks like the apocalypse outside.” you stated, looking out the window to the dark city of los angeles. 

“do we know when the power’s coming back on?” harrison asked tom.

“the power company said it’s the whole county and they don’t know when it’s gonna turn back on.” tom groaned, slipping his phone into his back pocket.

“im sure we can light some candles and make the best of it.” you shrug before tessa whined, headbutting your knee gently.

that was tessa’s sign of having to go outside to do her business. you chuckled as you ran your fingers over her soft fur. 

“let’s go, tess.” you nod your head toward the door leading to the backyard.

you opened the door, letting tessa roam around the grass as you stood there and waited. the glow from the moon was reflecting onto the ground, tilting your head up to see the bright yellow orb.

instead, your eyes focused to the tiny stars kissed in the myterious, dark sky.

you twitched as tom’s arms snaked around your waist from behind and leaving a kiss on your shoulder.

“whatcha lookin’ at?” he teased.

your fingers run through the back of his hair, the feel of his curls were extra soft.

“the stars.. they look so pretty.” you mumbled, tilting your head against his.

“just like you.” tom smirked, you rolled your eyes at his cheesy response.

“can we lay out here tonight?”

tom raised his eyebrows at your question. after being brought on the last holland family trip, he didn’t expect it from you.

“really? bugs on the ground? sticks in your hair?” he jeered and you shoved him lightly.

“c’mon, it’s a beautiful night. the stars are out, nothing to do inside.” you further suggested, looking into tom’s pretty, dark chocolate eyes.

after convincing harrison along with your plan, a makeshift tent of sheets and sticks with two blankets laid out on the lawn with tessa dog bed inbetween. you giggled at tom and harrison’s creativity and ambition to make it somewhat perfect– just for you.

a view of the stars, the sound of crickets chirping and the inhaling the summer air, this was as perfect as it could get. 

you and tom laid on the cozy blanket, your legs were tangled and your head was like a puzzle piece that fit perfectly in his neck. his arm wrapped around your shoulders, the hand hanging off was playing with your hair. you hummed while your nose nuzzled against his soft skin.

“thank you.” you sweetly spoke, your lips pressing a light kiss on his neck.

“anything for my darling.” tom admitted, turning over so he could admire your beautiful features with your hair framing your face.

you wiggled a bit so you were nose to nose, lazily smiling at eachother and enjoying the peace surrounding you.

“you look like an angel.. with the glow.” tom chuckled and your cheeks blushed.

your response was placing your hand on his cheek, your thumb lightly pressing into his cheek and stroking over his freckles. you pressed your forehead against his and a kiss sealed on both your lips. you loved how velvety and smooth his felt, tasting his sweet tongue as he pulled you onto him by your hips.

“do you mind?” harrison interrupted.

you burst into a giggle, your lips still against tom’s as both of you laughed. you rolled back onto your back and intertwined your fingers with tom’s, resting your and on tom’s chest.
