Holy shit. The Israeli whistleblower story CNN just broke is insane. I cannot believe what I’m reading

Rare firsthand accounts by Israeli whistleblowers cast light on the horrific conditions in the Sde Teiman torture camp in Naqab Desert. Palestinians are stripped down, blindfolded, forced in diapers, and forbidden from speaking. They are subjected to beatings and mental degradation regularly. So much depravity that has gone unseen. Doctors performing procedures outside of their expertise, amputations due to zip-typing of abductees’ wrists, having large dogs unleashed on them at night. Being fed food through straws. I can’t believe it. I am truly in shock. And this is just one whistleblower accounting of this. Who knows what else is happening beyond our knowledge

Worth mentioning that multiple Palestinians have recounted these stories before, as direct victims detailing their experiences. What's unique about these accounts from CNN Israeli whistle-blower is that they're from an Israeli, therefore people are more likely to take this seriously.

the theme of memory in the black rose arc is so interesting to me. who gets to forget and who has to remember. the duelist themselves all forget the duel and everything leading up to them (though not, of course, the underlying problem they had), while the student council members all clearly remember the sword pulls. utena remembers all the duels, until of course the very end when mikage disappears and everyone seemingly forgets everything that had anything to do with him. mirroring the end of the show when utena herself disappears and is forgotten. there's still some ambiguity though, because it's not as simple as the entire arc being wiped from everyone's memories. it can be assumed, for example, that utena remembers most important things that happen outside the duels, like her conversations with akio or her revelations about anthy, because if she didn't the way the next arc progresses would not make any sense. akio and anthy definitely remember everything, in a similar way to how they both remember utena at the end of the show. but from there a lot gets left to interpretation. does shiori remember what she saw in juri's locket? it's hard to tell based on her behaviour in episodes 28 and 29, and it could go either way. have the student council members forgotten the sword pulls now? i'm inclined to think yes, but it makes sense if some of the emotions associated with it are still vaguely present. once again similar to how utena has been forgotten by the end of the show, while a lot of the feelings she inspired still remain.
