People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

Actually, I realized my real point here: we all need to make our art weirder. Please make weird art. I want more stuff like Prequel Adventure and 17776 and MyHouse.wad and I want it now. Capitalism thrives on conformity. We must be weird at all costs.

I was thinking recently about how "alt" subcultures are so aestheticized now but they used to be much more about your societal views than the clothes you wore or even the bands you listened to, and my brain connected some dots. Idk if this is anything

Yes, this is it! This is exactly it!!

You know sometimes, as it’s in the brain’s nature to question itself, I become forgetful or sometimes even doubtful of whether schools really do still represent the factory-model education system. And then I remember how going through school has made me think and feel about myself productivity speaking and I’m like oh no yeah this fucking sucks

Like it’s literally this

There’s a happy ending to, because the robbery was unsuccessful, the couple ended up getting the money Eden needed from a movie inspired by em! Also John only had to serve part of his sentence. Check out their wedding photos btw they’re beautiful.

reblogging because I’ve seen this post a thousand times and I’ve never seen the happy ending!!

Everyone go watch Dog Day Afternoon please please please it’s the movie mentioned in this thread it’s Sidney Lumet’s best imo and Al Pacino plays John and he is heartbreakingly good in it.

THE MINECRAFT END POEM IS OFFICIALLY PUBLIC DOMAIN!!

and the universe said i love you, because you are love ❤️

i genuinely feel like this is one of the most instantly recognizable and iconic pieces of modern poetry, and that's deserved, because it's gorgeous. it's one of those works where you can quote basically any line and it will be equally recognizable

if you click into the tweet thread, he links a much longer post from his substack, where he talks about all the circumstances and emotions around the End Poem in much greater detail, as well as specifying the copyright details at the end. it is a lengthy post, but if you have the time I think it's highly worth a read.
