Hi, I'm Isablooo 🍓, I'm a Jamaican-British artist who loves Gothic literature, historical fashion, fantasy and mythology! I mostly draw my original characters and fanart of books I love, but I aspire to make webcomics!

Webcomic projects:

♥  I'm currently working on my debut comic, 'Dracula's Guest', which will be a short prequel to Dracula! It follows Jonathan Harker's adventures as he travels through Munich and is based on Stoker's working notes and the deleted second chapter. You can follow my side blog for this comic @draculasguestcomic

♥ My next project will be a webcomic adaptation of my favourite book, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley! To get a taste, please check out my #frankenstein tag or my #isabelledrawslit tag for my other book fanart!

My true pride and joy are my original story projects:

♥  My Gothic vampire story, Séverine's Perfumery is about a vampire perfumier as she goes about her daily life in the fashionable city of Verdeux.

♥  My longest and most ambitious project is my fantasy epic, Search for Quintessence, about a young hill-folk girl called Orolin who wishes to find out the secrets of the God's magic, known as 'the Quintessence.' It's been my passion project for years and I can't wait to make it into a fully fledged comic!

i miss the ace attorney promotional art that had actual Personality in it so badly. never forget what they took from us.

i am overjoyed to be able to tell you that as a franchise going strong for over 20 years ace attorney has an absolutely insane amount of promotional illustrations and other official art and someone has lovingly put all of it into this google drive for our convenient perusal.

thank you for your service.

during my daily dommor brainrot i was wondering what mor and dom would be in ocean of cycles. i guessed a myr artist for mor and a dryad/nomad mage for dom?

(edit: idk why tumblr messed up my formatting and won't fix it on desktop no matter how many times i try. Anyway sorry this ended up being a longer post than I wanted 😓)

I haven't touched Ocean of Cycles in a minute cause I'm admittedly stuck on a lot of things, but I did reimagine Dom and Mor as denizens of the Four Realms recently and you were close!

Mor would be a Kobold cleric/bard, and Domi would be a Dryad battlemage (Whisper would be Mor's familiar, an animal I'm designing for the Southern Realm called a Bast Jackal!)

feel like i've grown up a lot in 2024 and come to the realisation that life is about feeling deeply. They might not always be nice feelings but its best to try and face them, you will feel more fulfilled doing so

need an adaptation of the last man by mary shelley where the plot is the same except its visually set in a contemporary setting (for context, the novel is supposed to be set in the 21st century but reads like its set in the 19th century- e.g. the main character grew up as a shepherd, his father used to hang out with the king before he lost favour etc etc).

More 1890s AU of my Search for Quintessence characters! Here's part 1 ~

I started doodling this AU again because I had the thought: what if Willow was a chalan (cowboy) back in Peru? Like it's the 1890s nothing is stopping me from making him one! No wonder he hates London when he moves there lol, he's used to the outdoors and can't stand the industrial smog.

Lionhart is a spoiled aristocrat (not so different from canon haha). He has an interest in boxing and is a patron to amateur boxing rings- he claims he wants to box one day himself but everyone knows he won't because he'll flop. Before I had finalised Lion's design in canon I had considered leaning into a victorian dandy aesthetic and had experimented with a few designs involving waistcoats and a cane but it wasn't really clicking and I went for dark medieval prince instead!! So I already had a pretty clear image for 1890s AU Lion, I'm glad I get to reuse the lion-headed cane concept here

Umbra is a fashionable lady from Meiji Japan who's travelling Europe with her sister on an art tour. She has a rather eccentric love for art, especially music and hopes to go to as many orchestral concerts and operas as possible on her visit (and improve her piano playing). Umbra is a hard character to put in realistic AUs because she's a death goddess possessing a mortal woman's body and her ethos and circumstances make no sense divorced from that context. So for this AU I'm making her a twin (the lady whose body she's possessing in canon is the good twin and she's the bad twin). I used a kiku-zukushi (many chrysanthemums) pattern on her kimono as white chrysanthemums are associated with death- I still wanted to give her some memento mori motifs even in an AU where she's a human because that really is so integral to her character!

I know frankenstein is technically set in the 18th century but I can't help always imagining it in the 1810s when Mary Shelley was writing... I just love the regency melodrama of it all <3

The Creation's classical esque fit here was inspired by how he was depicted in stage adaptations of the 1820s! Although they usually robbed him of his Miltonian speeches and used pantomime for his character instead, I adore this costuming choice! Like, of course a guy who learnt to read from Paradise lost and Plutarch's Lives would want to dress like his idea of a Greek philosopher

Here are some examples: (click image desc for info about each one)
