Making a second claim is completely optional. Any artists who are willing and able to claim a second story, they can do so by filling out this form before 11:59 PM PDT on May 13.

We decided we couldn't just let the Billy Big Bang die out completely this year so we have created a new server and I (@kallisto-k) have taken over as the second mod alongside @writer-in-theory!
Author sign-ups are running to May 15th and artists until July 6th! Beta and pinch hitter sign-ups run indefinitely! Please check out the full schedule or reach out to us via the ask box on our Billy Big Bang 2024 blog if you have any questions!

The rules state AU is accepted "as long as these stories also contain a major element recognizable from Stranger Things" but what does this mean? Does there need to be some kind of supernatural element? Same good guys vs bad? Government involvement? I just want to make sure I've got the right idea. Thanks!
Thanks for the question! All it means that something recognizable from the show has to appear.
In most AU cases it’s the characters (even minor ones) from Stranger Things that make it eligible for this big bang. If you want to write about Alexei in a modern college AU, go for it! Keith in a space opera AU? Yes!
You could also keep one of the Stranger Things settings (Hawkins, HNL, Lenora, NINA, the Upside Down, etc) and write a story about OCs in that setting.
Basically, just don’t bait and switch us Stranger Things fans with a story that doesn’t have anything to do with ST!
