hearing officials and public figures criticize biden openly on talk shows and seeing newspaper headlines sharply decry israel killing aid workers is making me feel kind of crazy. like it could've been like this the whole time. before 40,000 palestinians were killed and the infrastructure of gaza destroyed. it could've been like this when people gathered their children in plastic bags at al-ahli hospital, when a poet and his family were assassinated for a joke, when journalists buried their families on air, when children were targeted by drones on camera, when a little boy holding his grandmother's hand in one hand and a white flag in another watched her get shot and die in front of him, when a cameraman was left to bleed out with a live counter for hours while his rescuers were shot, when patients were bulldozed in their tents in the courtyard of a hospital, when four babies were left die and decompose alone in their hospital beds, when six year old hind rajab was crying for help trapped in a car with the corpses of her family on the phone with the red crescent for hours until she and the rescuers sent to get her were killed too.

Review of ‘From Father to Son’ by kipam (2015)

Sorry for the late post, but the Giovanni doujinshi by kipam were all really heartwarming and amazing, and here’s my review of each of them. I’ll be starting with the first doujin, ‘From Father to Son’. There are 3 stories in this doujin.

Story 1 is about how Giovanni had to single-handedly raise Silver by himself after the passing of his wife. As this doujin is based on the Pokémon Adventures manga, Silver gets kidnapped when he was little one day, and Giovanni desperately began looking for him. Eventually, he quit as the Gym Leader of Viridian Gym and started Team Rocket so that he could have the resources to find his son, and has done, “a few... no, countless bad things” in the process. The story ends with Giovanni believing that he will find Silver one day.

Story 2 is about Giovanni giving his Sneasel to his son on his birthday when he was little, and telling Sneasel to take good care of his son from then on.

Story 3 is about Giovanni asking Red to pass a gift to Silver, and in it was a photo of Silver as a baby with his mother, and a letter detailing how Silver was born on a snowy day, and the hopes his parents had for him. The letter ends with Giovanni telling Silver that he loves him. Silver cried after reading the letter, and tells Red he will go with him to visit his father.

finished reading thru The Hundred Years' War On Palestine: A History of Settler Colonial Conquest and Resistance by Rashid Khalidi and I cannot recommend it enough. A lot of people and, very likely, the average, person not completely blinded by Islamophobia and/or USamerican/European/British exceptionalism are probably at least moderately sympathetic to the Palestinian cause but I don't know how many of us actually understand the degrees by which Israel is based in settler colonial ideology, how it has continually attempted to subjugate and ultimately eradicate the Palestinian people, and the degree by which the US and Britain (but mostly the US ever since the Six Day War in 1967) have been complicit in this continual genocide.

i also wanna say that this is probably the easiest academic read I've ever experienced. It is specifically designed to appeal to a more general audience beyond people in academia. it is of course cited and full of sources like any academic text should be but the prose has a good flow to it and it doesnt have that super dry analytical stuffiness that puts me off from a lot of academic writing. like i seriously cannot recommend this enough. if you are looking for an introduction to the history of this genocide, here is something tailor-made for you
