White players should be kneeling. Ryan Reaves almost didn’t kneel because he didn’t want to make white teammates who might have a problem with it uncomfortable, not to mention the Knights owner who once said anyone who kneels isn’t playing. Considering Reaves has been scratched in the past, his knee has a very high likelihood to impact his career. If you, like me, are white, we should focus on Ryan and the bravery it took for him to take a knee knowing a.) the potential fallout from the racists in this sport and the bigoted team owner and b.) that so many of his teammates would refuse to kneel with him. Amplify his voice. There are so few BIPOC in this league, and they’re taking on a burden that shouldn’t be theirs to speak out and experiencing more racism as a result. Using this opportunity to make it about the white players who should’ve done this bare minimum action from the start comes off incredibly weird.

Ryan Reaves is so, so incredibly brave, and it's vital to recognise that. Don't erase the bravery of him kneeling, especially since he almost didn't for the comfort of white teammates.
