Shikamaru always finished books quickly. He always failed to pace himself when he was faced with a good read. Therefore, he found himself in his local bookstore more than he would like. 

Sighing as his tired eyes looked over the history section, Shikamaru wasn’t sure what to read next. He landed on history, thinking something new would spring out at him, but they all began to blur together. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked up at the ceiling, cursing his favorite past time being reading. 

Looking back down to eye level, he decided to maybe ask someone what they thought would be the best pick for him next. He always liked suggestions. Made decisions easier for him in these kind of situations. 

He found a blonde woman. He couldn’t quite determine if she worked here or not, but he was feeling bold and sick of standing in the same spot, getting nowhere. 

Walking up beside her, he felt like he had seen her before somewhere but pushed the thought to the back of his mind,

“Do you know about any good books, by chance? I’m having a hard time trying to find a fresh one for me to read...”

All he saw was the sky. Shikamaru was at least blessed with the fact that there were clouds in the sky today. It made the pain in his chest and the bleeding from his cheek easier to ignore.

The Nara wasn’t sure what had happened. He was strolling along, trying to keep his senses sharp. He was in enemy territory and on a mission for the Leaf to gather intel. It was an easy mission. Keep your head low and gather what you could. That’s why he didn’t expect to have a log launched at him, sending him flying back and a kunai that had cut a deep gash in his cheek. It had sent him on his back where he was currently looking up at the sky. He felt foolish for not expecting some kind of trap. 

Sighing, he tried to get up but cringed at the pain in his chest and laid back down. He was going to have to stay here for awhile. His also felt dizzy from banging his head onto the hard, dirt ground. 

Once again, his dark eyes flicked back up to the sky. Well at least he could get some rest now... Although he felt much too vulnerable where he currently was to relax. Whoever set the trap was probably going to be back soon and that would mean more trouble.

Before Shikamaru had a chance to try and get up again, a shadow passed over him. He tensed, thinking it was the enemy, but once he looked up to see it was... Tobirama? He was confused.

“Did you follow me?”

If he did, Shikamaru didn’t care that much as long as he could help him.
