Excited for the Women’s World Cup this year? Good news! Myself and some friends have created a discord server where fans from every team can chat with other fans, find out live scores (of every single match ever because of the bot we used, oops) and generally hang out with other women’s football fans!

Mo salah shouldnt have won the puskas bc two white guys did it better

Neymar gets called all sorts, has monkey noises directed at him, and rubbish thrown at him of bc he falls over occasionally but theres no response to other players diving

Raheem sterling cant have a tattoo for his father bc its unprofessional but everyone else has one and does their job fine

Leroy sane has a bad attitude but toni kroos is allowed to say the things he does and have the awful attitude he does

Paul pogba gets stripped of captaincy cus of bad attitude but istg others before him were out drinking or whatever

meanwhile players who do the nazi salute or blackface never ever get slandered by the media but there’s a 10 page article for two weeks on ‘bad attitude’……….i see

im tired,

Salah shouldn’t have won the puskas award because it wasn’t close to being the best goal. He didn’t even win the goal of the month in the premier league for that goal because Jermaine Defoe did. There were plenty of better goals.

I don’t get how you can compare people thinking it’s silly that an average (for Salah as well as in general) goal should beat much better goals, to the legitimate incidences of racism that players face.

Neymar’s diving is really annoying but you’re right no one ever deserves to be treated like that because of it.

The issues that have happened with Sané but in particular with Ozil and Gundogan have been genuinely awful.

Raheem sterling got physically attacked by someone who said that he and his daughter should die last year and has pretty much been the subject of constant weird, obsessive media coverage since he left Liverpool.

Pogba is criticised for his every move even the very good ones (although I won’t pretend to understand mourinho’s motivation for anything so can’t really say what that was motivated by)

Football does have a racism problem. I’m the last person who’d try to deny that but people disagree about the recipients of awards every time there are awards, it’s how it works. Try going on twitter after the oscars. Salah didn’t deserve that award because people scored better goals. Comparing people saying that to the horrifying shit people, including Salah, face is ridiculous.

This was about the media treatment not what people are saying, theres a huge outburst on a fucking puskas award, and for what

The media is going on about how he shouldnt have won. There’s pointless articles on why he shouldnt have won instead of just congratulating him. Everyday they compare it to better goals or how he didn’t deserve it like stfu and leave him alone he’s a capable footballer and all they’ve done is be dicks about it

This wasn’t about who’s fave should have won but how the media is still hounding him 3 days later

Fine u don’t like the goal but he won fair and square. U all missed the point.

Its not who should have really won a pointless puskas award bc on the scale of things it doesnt matter yet they still find the time to complain about him but ramos and greizmann didn’t even get a 3 minute cameo in the papers on their racism.

That’s my problem here I couldn’t give a fuck who won the award  when i was focusing on how poc are treated by the media,

Ok I didn’t think the whole post was about the media because the pogba thing is about mourinho and united so not the media. The Neymar thing is also about fan responses as well as media ones.

It’s plenty of people’s jobs to write analysis on who wins awards/how good goals are and I don’t think that’s a problem. Sure they might have some kind of bias but I don’t really think this was the case here. People analyse every award winner to a huge degree and debate whether they should go to who they go to and for me that’s not a problem

Consistently criticising none white players attitudes in a way that white players’ attitudes aren’t criticised is wrong. Consistently attacking none white players for their harmless personal choices is wrong. Ignoring legitimately racist acts from footballers is wrong. Saying that salah’s goal wasn’t as good as someone else’s so he shouldn’t have won an award doesn’t really seem to be the same thing.

It’s not a personal judgement of him, it’s just thinking that other goals are better.

look the ideal future is me having a strong girlfriend/wife who can effortlessly swing a sword but i know that future means me staring at her anxiously as she does sick sword stuff and going “babe, is that safe? babe are you sure you should do that? babe please be careful. babe. babe maybe we can just stare admiringly at that sword instead”

future wife: hey look at me throw this axe with devastating accuracy

me, with my heart rate skyrocketing: that’s so hot, honey, but is that, like, really sharp?

I genuinely don’t think I will ever stop finding those lovren comments hilarious. Yes Liverpool and Croatia made major finals but honestly he was at best good in getting there and was nowhere near being the most important player. I don’t think anyone could get away with saying that, even if it was Messi saying he took Argentina to the World Cup (which he basically did) it would sound silly because you don’t say those things about yourself.

Two of the people I love most in the world will be delighted that France won today and if anyone deserves good things they do.

Croatia’s midfield have been miles and miles better. Kanté was really struggling and so were pogba and Matuidi but France’s actual attacks have been so much more threatening

I was totally sure that was a penalty the first time I saw it. Moves his hand towards the ball and hits it, would be unfair for it not to be given.

Both of those goals are from very debatable free kicks I love the drama

I’m really really gutted. Croatia’s game plan was great and they deserved to win it and England’s wasn’t perfect and a couple of players underperformed but I’m still so so happy about everything these players have achieved this World Cup. For a young team who no one expected anything from it’s been lovely. It’s also been a very pleasant distraction from our government falling apart which I now have to actually think about. Proud of this group of players and their manager after an amazing World Cup. Can’t express how special it was to see people whose families are from the same place as mine be so accepted and applauded in the midst of everything that’s happened lately. It’s been so wonderful feeling just how much I belong. Can’t wait to sing three lions again next time.
