I hate to make this post but I have no idea how I’m going to make rent for October and I’m fucking terrified. I’ve been unemployed since June because of the pandemic and haven’t been able to find a new job yet. My mom can’t help me because she financially can’t afford to, meanwhile my father usually helps me fill the gaps of my rent but he waited until the last week of the month to tell me he can’t help me with rent because his EX girlfriend doesn’t want him too. I’m completely broke not even able to get groceries or get on the train for an interview and mental health is at an all time low making living already difficult. Please if anyone could help I’d greatly appreciate it. There’s really nothing else I can do. I need $400 to pay rent by October 5th.

These two images hit different to me.

The top is my homestate. Michigan. Armed protestors against the stay at home order shouting in the faces of police because they want their haircuts.

The bottom is yesterday. Minnesota. More exact, Minneapolis. Miles from where I live. Protestors sitting while police show up in riot gear as they rightfully protest and demand justice for the murder of George Floyd.

I’m not the least bit shocked. But seeing the stark contrast from two places I’ve called home is so disappointing and infuriating that the racist system we live in allows for this and there’s still people who will say the protestors in Minneapolis were wrong. Just... I’m so angry the “land of the free” fails so many people. America was never the land of the free.

Did anyone else not know that Avatar Kyoshi was seven feet tall, bisexual, and lived to be 230 years old? Because I didn’t until now. Like no wonder there’s an entire group of women warriors who fight in her honor like I would too.

the criticism lesbians get for having a preference for butch lesbians is.. astounding.

i don’t just mean femme lesbians either, i know a lot of butches who are butch4butch who get a lot of flack too.

us femmes are criticized because we’re “replicating” and “reinforcing” heterosexuality and heteronormativity, as if it’s like, “what’s the point of being a lesbian if you’re just gonna appear like a straight couple?”

butches are criticized when i know many who prefer other butches partly because they feel more at home with them and feel like they have a lot more in common with them, and that love and comfort and solidarity is somehow a personal attack on other people.

and all of us who date butches eventually get the “why not just date a man if you wanna date someone who looks like one anyway” argument at some point in our lives.

i get that femme lesbians need and deserve love too, but butch lesbians? who are so deeply demonized by the rest of the world by daring not to conform to societal expectations of women, who struggle every day with misogyny but those struggles are overlooked because they aren’t feminine, who change the very definition of what it means to be a woman, many of whom struggle for so much of their lives discovering how to be happy with who they are despite the rest of the world telling them that they are “incorrectly female”? i’ll never stop talking about how much love and appreciation i have in my heart for butches. ❤️
