OKAY so, this lovely, painful idea was thanks to @numum :’) we were discussing some ways that would cause Lars and Sadie to have drifted apart and…well. Ow.
Before anyone asks “Why couldn’t he just tell her he would outlive her?” or anything like that, the main idea here is that Lars is ripping shit off like a bandaid. He’s trying to let go of Sadie as soon as possible, as not to hurt her anymore than he has to. He’s in love with her… His main goal is for her to get over him, and move on. To find someone he deems better than himself. Someone she can grow older with. Someone who won’t hold her back, or slow her down. Telling her about his newfound discoveries about himself would be like adding salt to the wound. He doesn’t want her to worry about him…he just wants her to move on and be happy. He loves her.
