it feels odd to have plans for valentine's day .

sleep found me well, last night.

i once had a dream that my jaw distended, cracked and bent, my skull growing until i could swallow the sun and gorge upon the starts which i then vomited up into my own small hands, hiding them in my pocket like stains on my consciousness.

we continue, we slump toward oblivion, but we continue.

a bumblebee, tired from the heat, drinking cold water from my palm and the satisfaction of knowing that there is not, in fact, more to life than this.

a sigh, heavy, thick and choking, clotted.

i've cat claws in my pocket and the rain returns, soft and steady.

to wait simply for the sake of it, the agony of extended anticipation.

the horrible truth is that we have all the time in the world and that it's never enough.
