Yes, we’ve recently finalized the list of participants and will post it in the next few days!! Please stay a little more patient until then! ♡ Thank you for your support and we’re happy to keep working with you!!

my preview for @darkmatterkurozine!
had so much fun working on this one, despite having to take a few hours off for a trip to the ER haha BD;;
To all the people who didn’t reply to their email to confirm their participation yet!
You have 3 days to reply, then we’ll try to reach you through the other contact information you’ve given us. If we can’t reach you then and you haven’t replied by August 2nd we’ll consider you as dropped out!
im laughing cause i feel like i know who the artist is even though i didnt see the exchange... but isnt it not fair that the language barrier inhibited them from signing up? i know that may be bias if you try to help them out.. but like, helping them would have put them on similar terms to native speakers idk (you can ignore this, i mean what's done is done and theres no need to start further drama)
No, it wasn’t the language barrier that kept them from signing up~ They came to us just as we opened Sign Ups and asked about the rules and process of a zine and we explained it to them and sent them the Sign Up link, but they simply forgot to sign up in time ^^; We tried and try to help out everyone who has questions and they weren’t the only one who came to us, but a few people simply forgot time/missed it to sign up while applications were open. It’s just important to us to make clear that just because someone is popular in the fandom or in general, doesn’t mean we’ll bend the rules for them! But thank you for your concern!
I don't care about not being picked. If you guys don't want my art for free when ppl buy it on commission that's not my problem. But I saw an artist talking about this zine before applications had opened and they said they were participating in it. I asked how could they be participating when the apps hadn't opened and they deleted everything and refused to talk about the zine again. So yes, it does look very shady and I've seen other Zines pre-pick artists before so the zine sells better.
I think I know who you’re talking about, cause I’ve seen this exact interaction you had with the artist and as far as I can tell it’s simple miscommunication. The artist is not a native speaker afaik and they didn’t mean to post that they would participate but that they would apply for it! You’ve asked them how they could participate when Sign Ups weren’t even open at that time and if I remember correctly they replied that applications will only open later on.
And actually this artist missed the Sign Ups and did not sign up nor get into the zine. I hope this clears the misunderstanding in this case! We promise we did not accept any artists before applications were open!!
Ok ngl that last anon was kinda really rude Like as a creator you just don't get in sometimes. That's not a reflection on the speculative bias of a zine admin. It's their (yalls) decision who gets in and who doesn't. People should know that when applying to zines and not be salty at the admins just because they're bitter over not getting in. It's bad taste and a bad reflection on your character, anon
Thank you very much, but I think the issue is a different one, as we have received another message from this anon and hope to resolve this asap!
So how many artists were chosen before the application process went live?
I don’t quite understand the question to be honest... We did not choose any participants before applications. How would that even be possible without knowing if they were gonna apply?
However, if you’re trying to say we were biased while choosing, let me tell you that I’ve personally never spoken a single word to any of the artists with only one exclusion and we tried to include as many artists as possible on a wide scale of skill and variation of style. The popularity of said artists did not play a role in this.
If you’re dissatisfied with our decisions or you were one of the artists who didn’t make the cut, then I’m very sorry - we had a really hard time choosing. If you’d like constructive criticism on your art, you’re very welcome to send us a message off anon or send a mail to darkmatter_kurozine@yahoo.com
How many people in total will be working on pieces for the zine?
We have chosen 50 participants in total! It was super hard to narrow down, because everyone’s submissions were incredibly creative, but we had to put a number and decide..
We sent acceptance and rejection emails, so if you applied for the zine and did not receive an email, please contact us!! Also don’t forget to check your spam folders first! Thank you!
emails eta?
We are working hard on the list right now, please stay patient a little bit longer. We will send them out as soon as we got the final list and there will also be updates here and on Twitter once emails are sent out! Because of the different timezones we don’t know the exact time you’ll receive your email but it will most likely be during the next 24 hours. We don’t mean to sound rude, but please refrain from asking this question again, as it has already been answered multiple times and the schedule is also up on all platforms we’re managing right now.
if people didnt make the cut will they still get a follow up email?
Yes! Everyone who applied will get an email whether they are chosen to participate or not! Rejection emails are horrible to write and receive but we figured it would be best for everyone to have a definite response and not wait forever, scared that their mail got lost somehow maybe.
OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS ZINE! Even if I don't make it (hopefully I do!) I will definitely buy this! Best wishes to the mods!
Thank you so much!!!! We’re also super excited to continue working with everyone on this and we’re happy it’s getting such positive response!! ♡
hello again! it's the participants anon again. i'm sorry i didn't see that you'd answered it already! thanks for your time, and i'm sorry if it came off as a little rude ahhh i didnt mean for itto be but i reread it and my wording was ,,, not what i'd intended
Ah, we only said we don’t know how many artists.. But the overall amount isn’t set in stone yet either, but we’re aiming for at least 40 participants (which was only said on twitter - sorry!), if not quite some more. We’re working hard on finalizing our list before sending out all emails! Please stay patient! ♡
