I see your intentional temperature taking and I raise you unintentional temperature taking.

A kiss on the head after work, running your hands through their hair, touching their cheek before a kiss.

The caregiver, concerned and taken aback, says “You feel a bit warm. I think you might be running a fever…”

The sickie seems to ponder for a minute. “Oh. So that’s why I feel so tired/achy/thirsty/cold…”

Caregiver leads them to bed or to the couch to get cozy, anticipating the wave of symptoms that will inevitably hit the sickie in the morning. 😮‍💨

A is taking a fever nap, while B is reading a book in the same room.

Suddenly A wakes up, with messy hair and fiery red cheeks. They sit up in their blanket nest, and just... stare into the void.

B smiles at them. "Feeling better after your nap?"

A doesn't reply. They just keep staring right in front of them, with heavy lidded, fever bright eyes.

"Hello? Anyone home?" B waves a hand in front of their face, which seems to break the trance. A blinks slowly, confused and just completely out of it.

B huffs, puts down their book and gently cups A's burning cheek.

"Aw, sweetheart, you're not feeling better at all, are you? Come, lay back down. I'll bring you something cold for your head, before your brain starts frying".

Ok but what about someone who cares so much about you they wouldn't mind catching a cold from you.

And then when they are in the thick of it, miserably sneezy and have wiped their poor nose all red and raw with tissues, they're still making sure you won't feel bad for it. And when you succumb to a fit of residual cough, they frown, wrapped in a blanket, reach out, and when you're done they pull you against them, stroking your arm gently.

"Still not ok at all, are you, poor thing," they say with a voice pitifully thick with congestion, yet the frown is still audible in it.

"I'm ok, stop worrying."

"No..." they sniffle wetly and rub their nose to their knuckles. "...you're dnot... oh... whh... wait..."

"Compared to you I am, sneezy."

"Oh, shud..." their body jerks forward with a wet, hissing sneeze. "...shuddup."

A person suffering from a bad case of the cold. They have been sneezing, sniffling and blowing their nose non-stop until it's gotten all red and raw. All the sneezing hasn't really helped with the thick wall of congestion in their nose, though, so they are basically glued to their handkerchief / tissue, wiping at their runny nose or catching a messy sneeze with it.

At the end of a long, miserable day, they crawl into bed, handkerchief or tissue in hand, wearing their most warm and comfortable pyjamas, but still feeling cold and shivery.

Their SO / friend enters the scene and tucks them in, accompanied by much tsking and cooing over them and their absolutely miserable, sneezy, messy cold.

When they are finally settled under the covers, the SO / friend leaves the bedroom to get the sick person a mug of tea. They aren't gone for long, but when they return, the sick person is already fast asleep, snoring softly, still clasping the handkerchief / tissue, their bright red nose shiny with cold.

@empresskaze That’s Gabe. Am I right?

Why do you reblog your own fics so much?

Because someone might as well!? And look at this. Look. At. This.

Does this look right to you??

These are just the last three fics I wrote. I appreciate the likes, believe me I do, but you have to understand. Likes do nothing for content creators. It’s the reblogs. Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.

Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

Anyway, I’m still going to reblog my shit...

Avatar

I think I’m gonna restart blogging my own shit.

WRITERS. ARTISTS. EDITORS.

REBLOG YOUR OWN WORK.

THERE IS NO SHAME IN IT.

And still there'd be people who'd not REBLOG this post

Still think this site would be better if it didn’t have a like button.

^^ Just some examples of my stories, pulled at random from my notes. Some of those stories are a couple of years old, and that’s not a lot of reblogs.

Likes don’t help get your favourite creators’ stuff seen. It doesn’t get artists commissioned for glorious artwork, and it doesn’t get writers new readers (or commissions if they’re open). If you didn’t enjoy it that much, then there’s obviously no pressure to reblog, but if you did enjoy it, then the least you can do is reblog.

The reason I’ve got my ‘old stories reblog’ tag is because new folks don’t necessarily know about my older stories, so I reblog an old one to bring it to light again. I feel no shame in doing this, and neither should you if you’re a content creator. Promote your work because not many people seem prepared to help out.

Reblogging this because it’s important

Likes feel like emphasis on this app, reblogs & comments what really let creators know you enjoy their content.

Always reblog to remind and encourage olde creators and the newest to promote themselves. Reblog! 🥂

What does caretaker has to do in order to take care of a whumpee with a high fever?

  • Drink water, iced tea or diluted juice (or suck on ice cubes if they can't keep a drink down)
  • Cool compresses
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Remove excess layers of clothing, unless they have chills
  • Tepid baths (contrary to popular belief ice baths are not a good idea; shivering raises body temperature higher)
  • Call a doctor if their temperature’s 103, go straight to the ER if it’s 105-106.

personal adds:

- touching whumpee’s hot face, caressing them, holding their hand - hushing and soothing whumpee if they have bad dreams - worrying their heart out 💖
