Maria Bjørnson and the chandelier
Most of the pictures I’ve seen of her she seems to be more dressed up for events and publicity photos, but here she really looks in her element. She kinda reminds me of my theatre class’s scenic designer for our senior class production, actually.
Which then reminds me how incredible it is that she designed the sets AND costumes for Phantom, and how polished it all is together. I don’t know much about theatre design history, but in my experience, usually the set, costumes, lighting, and sound are designed by different artists in those areas of expertise. Scenic design and costume design seem worlds apart from each other to me (all areas of theatre design do, in a way. Even the kinds of people who gravitate towards each area of design seem distinct from each other), but the fact that Maria Bjornson was able to do both— and do both of them well— is just amazing to me.
