𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐒, it was a phrase all Vallecians knew; spill royal blood, the blood of the goddess Thalina, and you'll have a fate worse than the Storm Serpents.

𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐀 𝐃𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐀 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃 when she accidentally massacred the entirety of the royal bloodline; her family, leaving Vallece with a 15 year old empress and wavering faith in their religion. 𝐍𝐎𝐖 Nalia spends most of her days not on a throne or in a council meeting, but rather in her room with a cup of tea, a book and a temper.

𝐉𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐍 when her life was decided for her. She would live a slave, and she would die with no legacy. Jenny fought her fate. 𝐍𝐎𝐖, she is Noracco's most valued spy and an actress with no limits. She is not afraid to stab, steal, manipulate or mutilate if it means that her people, the Haelish, might see a life out of chains. Jenny breaths lies.

𝐙𝐎𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐀 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐃; nobody in the clan was. She and her sisters were raised only to please the Chief and kill at his will. 𝐍𝐎𝐖 she is fleeing the only life she's ever known. Miles from the mountains, in a city whose language she doesn't speak, Zoe is making a reputation for herself as the White Fox; defined by her silver hair and the fact that she only kills men.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐍, but Zoe, Jenny and Nalia can no longer tell if they're the good guys anymore. And with crime, corruption, monsters and treason on the rise; they may finally have a chance. The Soft(ish)-Verse

au where Titania and Dantalion never divorced but he still takes in Illysandre as a wife and we get a Fenice and Charles that grew up together as proper siblings

  • you bet your ass that Dantalion wasn't allowed in her chambers for months
"Titani—"
"no"
"Can we ple—"
"no"
  • Suprisingly or not suprisingly, Titania and Illysandre get on like a house on fire. They're good friends even if there are days where Titania acts very coldly towards her
  • They have tea or a picnic together almost every week. Dantalion's not invited
  • The day Dantalion and Titania reconciled the entire palace breathed a huge sigh of relief because their king can finally stop moping
  • anyway enough about them because what we're really here for are soft vi aetier sibling moments
  • Fenice absolutely loathed Charles when he was born —no shock there— though a lot of that was because she thought she would be replaced. That her father (and even to some extent, her mother) would not love her anymore noe that he has another child
  • (the loathing will eventually go away, but this fear of losing Dantalion's love never does)
  • (Dantalion promises to spend the rest of his life proving to Fenice that he will never not love her)
  • Opposite to Fenice, baby Charles adores his older sister. He's always reaching for her, calling for her, tugging her hair, her hand, and just generally trying to get her attention whenever, however.
  • He even goes through a phase a little later in childhood where he insists on copying his sister in everything— much to Fenice's never ending frustration
  • little Charles could never get Fenice's name right and just ends up calling her "Fi" (pronounced fee)
  • a nickname that persisted even into adulthood
  • little Fenice doesn't ignore charles alot (bc that would be rude and her governess is a stickler for manners) but when they do talk, she speaks to him with the gravity of a 40 year old duchess which Charles thinks is both silly and flattering because it makes him feel like a grown up
"Your a prince, and I'm a princess, and that means we're important people. One of the most important people, actually. So, Charles, it's important that we speak peoples' names correctly so they don't get offended."
*nods*
"Ok. Repeat after me: Feh-"
"Feh."
"-neece"
"neece."
"Fenice"
"Fi!"
"No. Fenice. Fe-nice."
"Fifi?"
"...this is why i don't like you"

S T A R B O R N E ; a wip by @dhampier

He spoke the same as a seed that rots before it’s sown. His heart reached moonlight without any flesh to cover it. They say he never tells a lie.
Vale knew it was the fate of all stars to be laid bare before the Goddess. To shed themselves of their ruined shell, immortalized still, but beautiful. Asenri had fallen half-formed.❞

S Y N O P S I S

A new star appeared when the Empress died. That same star fell when Prince Imperial Asenri Estelle de Angelos was born. A bastard son who presented the Scions’ blue in only a single eye. He was nonetheless declared sole heir of the Holy Empire of Angelos.
Whether Asenri be the latest in a bloodline of divine heroes, or a walking harbinger of ruin, it was only the beginning of Vale’s woes. Accoladed as the Knight Imperial, the personal protector of the heir, his life is second to Asenri’s and Asenri’s alone. However, his liege has developed a concupiscent hobby of seducing and dismissing his Knights out of sheer boredom.
The two inevitably find themselves at odds, but their quarreling is soon halted by the long-expected death of the Emperor. By divine providence, Asenri must now embark on the treacherous Scions’ Campaign if he wishes to claim his throne, requiring him to retrieve a dragon’s tear from the terror-filled Blightlands.
Then comes word that he’s sacked a village and left no survivors. Then, that he’s betrayed vassals already loyal to the Crown. The only problem is, Asenri’s been nowhere near them. An imposter with his face now attempts to turn the Empire against him, and both Asenri and Vale must learn to find faith in each other as the world they once knew begins to crumble around them.

C H A R A C T E R S

Vauquelin (Vale) ✦ Hailing from the southern Kingdom of Esprit, Vale was recently accoladed as Asenri’s twenty-second Knight Imperial. A man a few words, but seemingly endless contempt.
Asenri Estelle de Angelos ✦ The Emperor’s only grandchild and Prince Imperial of Angelos. Beautiful and polite, yet artfully obscene, he will let nothing stop him from claiming his birthright.

𝐰𝐭𝐰 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐬 — 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬

Illysandre always knew that there were sides of her husband that she rarely if ever saw. Sides more visceral, more raw, more real, than any of the soft smiles and courteous greeting he gave her. Sides that burn majestic fires, of passion incarnate, that speak phrases and epithets that great poets would allude to for centuries to come. Before she married her husband, she, like so many others, knew of him as one half of a great love. Half divine in Areia’s eyes. A mortal who would love once and no longer.

In the past present (present past? Last iteration? Previous cycles) the bathing portion of the Period of Solitude had always brought her some measure of peace. A place to cleanse the mind of the past. A place to think. A way to commune with Dessia about her purpose in the grand scheme of things.
(You’re lying to yourself again. You always seem to lie to yourself these days. The real reason you are here is not some obligation to a ceremony or to speak with a goddess that answers in silence and echoes. It is  to wash your hands of yourself. To absolve yourself of your failure and your sins in hopes that you come away new. )
(It doesn’t work because you no longer believe it works.)

WTW Tarot Prompts - THE HIGH PRIESTESS

The chamber gleams under the music of colourful light, the sun streaming through the stained panes. Untold shades of reds, yellows, blues and greens dance across the polished marble. The Priests dazzle in the light, their crimson robes flecked with amber, diamond and rubies, their mitres sewn with gold and silver gilt, shimmering with every turn of their heads as they make their way toward the altar singing their chants.

The gods do not take part in the splendour of their servants. They are frozen in pale marble, the stone's veins of grey their only concessions to pigment and ornamention. They sit on their altars, white glazed gazes fixed upon the mortals below, with no evidence of interest or intent.

WTW TAROT PROMPTS - THE MAGICIAN

The basket is placed before me, the scent of its contents far too potent to mistake. The wicker creaks as the contents settle and the bearer steps back, his own flesh clammy under the heat of the sun and the weight of the grisly task.
My hands settle atop the basket's lid, the edges slipping through my fingers. I swallow back the tightness of my throat and set the lid back. Here lies the Prince's answer, mottled grey, white and green and stinking of death, the head of my envoy.

“Off to see your princess?”
“Oh, yes. It seems she’s gotten herself stuck in another tower.”

An incomplete list of plot devices that are really just excuses to try out all those costume designs you couldn’t come up with any other plausible excuse to put your protagonist in:

  1. Dream sequences
  2. Historical AUs
  3. Dungeons & Dragons episodes
  4. Robot doubles
  5. Somebody making a movie or play about the main characters
  6. Scenes where one character is imagining what happened based on another character’s hilariously inaccurate description
  7. Imagine spots where the protagonist talks to their reflection in the mirror except their reflection is evil
  8. The part where the heroes have to sneak into someplace that has uniforms and/or a dress code
  9. Contriving for everyone’s clothes to be destroyed so they have to dress themselves with whatever’s on hand
  10. Heretofore unmentioned identical twins

You are thirteen-years-old.
Somehow, this feels wrong.
(To be truthful, you do not know how you know this. Or, perhaps, you do. But human minds work in mysterious ways, and they are often as full of drivel and error as they are with wonder. What would they make of you, then? You who possessed a human mind, a human heart, and a human body. Born of human parents and raised to walk amongst them. A human in almost all ways that matter except so inextricably not. What are you?)

This is the moment where all the histories converge at once, a thousand strands woven together to finally meet here. How many of our ancestors dreamt of this moment? How many wished to be standing here?
What a jest the gods have played here, I think to myself. Here we stand, one reluctant and one eager both unsuited for the climatic crossing of stars which have brought us here.
He is but a boy, unblooded and green as spring. He wears that crown like a player's prodigy upon a stage, smiling nervously at the heart of the men sent to pull his strings.
