He’s this precious cinnamon roll who spent his entire life determined to avenge his father’s murder and once he’s given the chance, he gives it up purely because he couldn’t be responsible for another boy growing up and feeling the way he did. Simply because he knows how much it fucking sucks.

What made you decide to write this muse?

-That following morning when Liam wakes, it’s to the exciting news that he and papa are going off to a new town, a new kingdom, a new adventure. As content as he is with papa and the tavern, he’s ready for something more

-That excitement is only magnified when he discovers that they’ll be traveling by ship instead of across land like they always did before. Brennan, having always keep Liam a safe distance from anything to do with the ocean and sailing, is rightfully concerned about his son becoming attached to the lifestyle he so vehemently tried to put behind him.

-Liam’s interest and obsession with the ocean continues to grow as he does, and the next thing Brennan knows, his son is talking about the various professions centered around sailing and the ocean, and which ones he likes more than the others. It gives Brennan a near heart attack.

-As it turns out, it is universally impossible to keep a son of Brennan Jones away from the ocean, no matter how hard he might try.

-At 18 Liam leaves home to join the crew of a merchant ship, giving him the opportunity to travel the waters and discover just what it was he wanted-- and apparently needed-- from the freedoms that the ocean offered a man.
