i wanted to add more than just “stay off the app for an indefinate amount of time” to this post, so heres some helpful info about the vid in question + what you can do
i stole this specific picture from a tweet, it’s also pictured above but i just wanted to repost it for clarity of info, but if you see This, it’s going to be the suicide video. its a bad quality picture because its from a facebook* live, not a tiktok live like op said (you can also tell it wasnt recorded on tiktok because the image isnt horizontally framed)
immediately pause the video in question and report it for either “suicide” or “graphic content”. if enough people report these videos they’ll probably get taken down or at least stop being broadcasted on peoples fyps… this also goes for anyone who includes this video in their own videos attempting to make a meme out of it

people are also using the stitch feature to give a false sense of security that you are watching a normal tiktok. a cosplayer i follow had this happen to them today. know the initial frames of it and pause fast or stay on your following tab. because of how the fyp works, countless more people are being exposed to the video than previous gore/shock “trends”
You never really notice how broken you are until its too late, and i think thats whats wrong with us as a society... being broken is so normalized that you can't see yourself shattering until you can barely be pieced back together
Im the type of person who will have shows on in the background of doing things only to rewatch them again later that night to pay attention and fall asleep, but want to watch it again. The process will happen several times, it's a routine flaw at this point

You know when people respond to feminist comments, black lives matter comments, or any type of those with a rebuttle of "yea... but not ALL xyz are like that. So you can't say that." And it just kinda irks you?
It's because it's suppressive and dismissive! A lot of the time, organizations and trends are started to silence those that actually matter, like the ALM to the BLM movement. Yes, all lives DO matter, but what's important is helping BPOC gain their rights against an oppressive society. Now, some people genuinely don't understand the harm of the all lives matter movement because it sounds like it would be helpful and is right, but the reason it was created and is used is suppressive.
When you reply to rape saying "Im sorry you were raped, but not all men are bad and we can't say that" it's like saying to a dead soldier "hey your bullet wound is bad and killed you, but not all bullet wounds are lethal". While being true, it demeans the point of the previous statement and buries the sentiment.
God if I ever did run into my middle school self now I wouldn't hesitate to drop kick that lil shit to the next time Trump says something intelligent which, spoiler alert for those not paying attention, means that lil muffin licker gonna be flying for an eternity.
