the important thing about batman is not that he always wins (he doesn't) or that he always can think of a way to win with enough prep time (he can't) it's that he's always 100% ready to go full in on his plans with complete dedication even if they are completely weird and probably not going to work. like "ok so to catch this murderer first i am going to grovel to diana so that she has a magical obligation to shelter to me via unbreakable ancient greek ritual. got it? Got it."

“Scream if you have to,” is such a terrifying phrase to hear from Bruce. But I think the Batkids actually need to hear it — whether they’re getting a bad break reset, or having a wound cauterized, or something else extremely painful — it can be a relief to know you’re allowed to yell and make noise. Relieving to know that Bruce says it’s okay to scream.

#it's a divisive topic in fandom i've found and not very consistently handled in canon either#but like. i will die on the hill that bruce wayne? is a GOOD FUCKING TEACHER#his children are some of the most talented competent dangerous and intelligent vigilantes in the dc universe#and they don't become that way through shitty mentorship and teaching#so of COURSE bruce told them it was okay to scream. of COURSE bruce held them while they cried. of COURSE bruce told them pain was valid#(whether or not thats actually what they learned from mimicking bruce's self destructive behaviours is another conversation)#my point is like. what the bats and birds do every day requires them to acknowledge and feel the pain so they can better heal#strength is not suppressing weakness or pain or fear#strength is facing them head-on and feeling every inch of them. and then fighting anyway (or recovering or trusting etc etc etc)#and as a good fucking teacher. bruce taught them that#i. will. also something clicked for me when i realised taylor and redondo are desperately trying to reinvent fraction and ajas hawkeye run but with none of the style and far too much cowardice to make dick graysons life truly terrible

im not a fan of reverse robin stuff for a lot of reasons but i will admit the idea of an older bruce getting damian as his first child and somehow still being emotionally available enough to collect 5+ more children afterwards has. comedic potential

#jcnxbcndnx ok sometimes reverse robins can be my guilty pleasure i like thinking about the batshit wild character dynamics#but like. realistically. the batman mythos we know and love would not exist without dick as the first robin#simply wouldn’t work hes that fucking pivotal#tho i will say: i’ve seen a reverse robin au where after a joker attack tim became oracle and that had never left my mind#and every now and then my brain likes to be like. hey. reverse BATS. bruce is damian’s son try imagining that clusterfuck#and i just bluescreen for several seconds#dc
