Hello and welcome to my cosplay blog! 💖

I go by both Max and Aly! (he/she) I am a disabled and bisexual cosplayer who attends events in the New York City metro area. I started my cosplay journey back in 2012 and have been using this blog to chronicle my adventures since 2014. I absolutely love sharing my convention photography and vlogs with the world. I hope you enjoy your stay on my blog!

In addition to my Tumblr, I have plenty of other social media profiles where you can follow my cosplaying, photography, videography and editing. I do the vast majority of my own photo and video editing, so my upload schedule can be a bit sporadic at times. Most of the photos you see on here will be taken by my partner and edited by myself.

I love spending my time taking photos of other cosplayers whenever I'm at conventions. You can find some of my best photography up on my Flickr.

I stream Pokémon, farming sims, and JRPGs on my Twitch channel most weekday nights after 11 PM EST. I'd love it if you stopped by and said hello during my next stream. I really enjoy chatting with people who love the same series that I do!

I also have a YouTube channel where I share stream highlights, cosplay videos, and convention vlogs.

It honestly feels so amazing being able to share my passion with the world through my cosplaying and vlogging. It's been great connecting with so many people over the years thanks to Tumblr. I've really enjoyed the time that I've spent blogging and editing, and hope that I can continue to share cosplay photos and videos for many years to come!

I had the best time bringing Kiba with me to Anime NYC last fall. Kiba's always been my favourite anime guy ever since I was a tween, and I felt so confident cosplaying as him. I definitely need to bring him with me to more events in the future.

Part of my trans awakening is cosplaying as more male characters. I've always been comfortable in my sports boys cosplays, but I have the desire to branch out and dip my toes into the world of cosplaying as all sorts of guys I vibe with. I felt so freaking fierce as Kiba and can't wait to start hormones later this summer.

I just know that 2024 is going to be the best year of my life thus far since I'm fully out and honest with myself for the first time in my life. I can't wait to share my transition journey with you all on here in the coming months and years. This is only the beginning of the rest of my life, my truth and my best future.

I hope you're all having a positively lovely Sunday afternoon. I spent my Saturday with some close friends in Philly. I decided that I wanted to wear my Raven cosplay to the local anime night and dance the evening away with my friends.

It's such a gorgeous weekend, and I'm glad that I had the chance to take a few photos in some of the local parks around here. The spring is a wonderful time of year when I can exist outside without melting, so I'm looking forward to making the most out of these next few weeks before it gets too hot outside.

Summer is nice for photoshoots, but I do not do well in the heat. I am such a creature of the darkness that it's not even funny. Give me a cold, air-conditioned room and a video game console and day over the "great outdoors" once it's hotter than 80 degrees. 🫠

Happy International Women's Day to one of the most badass video game ladies that I've ever had the pleasure of cosplaying as. 👩♀️💖

When I think about which characters resonate with me the most, Rise Kujikawa is at the top of the list. I really related to her inner struggle with regard to her expressing her sexuality and openness. It's been over a decade now since I last played Persona 4 Golden, but I often find myself thinking about Rise and how much her backstory impacted me when I was going through undergrad.

I struggled with my own sense of worth and body image growing up, and it wasn't until I was in university that I gained the confidence to put myself put there. It was through the love and support of my close friends that I was able to find my voice and truly face and conquer my Shadow, my true self. It's through accepting every part of me that I'm able to walk forward into the future with a firm sense of conviction that allows me to push forward no matter what life throws at me.

As I play through Persona 3 again, I'm reminded of just how important this series is to me not only as a gamer, but also as a cosplayer and person in general. The magic of experiencing the world of Persona has helped me immeasurably, and I thank my lucky stars each day that my good friend jose.colon.9659283 on Instagram recommended Persona 4 Golden as the first PS Vita game I should play. 🥰❤️‍🔥

It's through acknowledging your Shadow, your inner self, that you're able to find peace and serenity. When you open your heart and mind and welcome in the joys surrounding you, you're able to truly live your best life. ❤️

I can't believe that Kogaracon 2024 is only two short months away! It feels like just yesterday I was cosplaying from Pokémon together with @sunfloradesu. At that point, I was on a liquid diet and still had my PICC Line inserted. I was anxiously awaiting my bowel resection surgery, but I didn't let anything stop me from making the most out of my convention weekend!

If I tell myself I'm going to get something done, I get it done. I'm so proud of myself for making it out to Kogaracon in full cosplay despite my circumstances. This year, though, I promised myself I wouldn't end up in the emergency room again, and I have full confidence that I'll be able to enjoy all of my conventions to the fullest. I've been staying on top of my health as best I can and will definitely make all of my dreams for 2024 come true. 🫶

This is what happens when @theemberwithin and I are allowed to cosplay from Pokémon at the same event together. Chaos and dank memes galore! 🤭

I had so much fun debuting my Hilda cosplay at MAGFest last month. There's nothing that I love more than Pokémon, and I've been wanting to cosplay as Hilda for the longest time now! Unova is one of the best regions in the Pokémon universe, and I always loved Hilda's character design so very much.

My heart might belong to Sinnoh, but I do have a soft spot for Unova, especially since it's based off of the New York City metro area. I've lived near New York most of my life, so playing through Pokémon in a region based off of my home was one of the biggest highlights of my Pokémon journey! I also met a lot of my closest friends when Gen 5 first released, so I'll always look back at that time in my life with deep fondness. 🥰

How is everyone celebrating Pokémon Day today? I'll be booting up Scarlet version later tonight for some EV training! I still have to finish up my DLC adventures, and I'm so stoked to get back into shiny hunting!

As I look over my shoulder at my new tattoo, I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of joy. I owe so much to the Fairy Tail fandom, and it's not an over exaggeration to say that without this wonderful series and the fandom, I might not be here right now.

Undergraduate was one of the darkest times of my life, and immersing myself in the fictional world of Fiore and consequently finding a group of Fairy Tail-centric bloggers and cosplayers is what got me through those years. I can't even express how grateful I am for the connections I've made through this series, and I find myself over a decade later reminiscing about all of those fun nights nightblogging together on Skype and about the AnimeNEXT and Otakon cosplay meetups with my nakama.

I started my cosplay journey with Aries the Ram. She was the first cosplay I ever made myself. My Aries cosplay was hand-sewn, and I was so proud of how she came out, especially since I hadn't had much experience with sewing before I attempted to make her dress.

My cosplay for Lucy Heartfilia was purchased, but I have many plans for future fits for her and finally have the energy to get back into sewing! Nothing can stop me. The world is my oyster, and I'm about to dive head-first back into the ocean of creativity! 🥰✨️

I had the best time cosplaying as Garfield at MAGFest last weekend. I dropped by the BunFest meetup, which was an absolute delight. I'll definitely have to make sure I stop by again during next year's event, too!

I feel so confident when I cosplay as Garfield and am happy that something that was just originally a silly Halloween costume idea turned into a group cosplay. It makes me so giddy when I think about how I got an entire Garfield group together by sheer force of will. 🤭❤️
