Okay so I had to briefly come back so yall can read this.

The facts from this article (with proof) are that both HBO and GRRM wanted and supported GoT going on for much, much longer. GRRM wanted 13-episode seasons, and reportedly claims to have urged D&D to have approximately “11, 12, 13” seasons (and by implication, providing them with story beats to extend that long).

D&D, though, were adamant on only 7 seasons. They’ve claimed in the past that they made this choice out of concern for losing a cast member, either to health or an accident or to other projects. But the truth seems to be that s7 was around the time that they nailed down their Star Wars deal. So they wanted to end the series at s7 not for any plot related reasons and not out of concern for the cast (who all seem very sad to leave the show behind), but because they wanted to move on to a bigger and presumably higher-paying project.

So HBO offered them an unlimited number of seasons and a consistently high budget to film them (even offering them MORE money after s7), and GRRM supported this–one can assume with his assistance re: plot content. One HBO exec in particular said D&D wanting to leave when they did was “horrifying” to him. HBO did everything they could to sweeten the deal and keep D&D around longer, and they refused. They doubled down on wanting season 7 to be the end of it. If they 100% had it their way, the show would have ended after a probably 10-episode s7. Imagine that. Imagine getting to where they’ve brought the story now all in s7 alone! It’s … impossible. Even with the 13 episodes they have between s7 and s8, the plot has failed.

So the 13 episodes are not the result of there not being enough budget for dragon CGI. They aren’t the result of D&D’s supposed concern for the cast. They are a compromise HBO managed in their desperation to keep D&D around when they were ready to jump ship three years ago. At the most recent Emmy’s, GRRM clearly confirms that the reason the show is ending is because D&D “want a life.”

So based on the above facts I personally think that s8 is so aggressively bad because of spite. They’re angry that their consistently dedicated fanbase kept them at HBO for an additional two years. They’re still angry that the s7 leaks made them look inept and foolish. They’re basically trolling and punishing us with the worst written season in TV history, and they’re making their AMAZING cast and crew suffer along for the ride. They probably knew it was going to tank and they DON’T CARE. They’re about to have DISNEY money, after all.

If D&D wanted a life as GRRM said they did, why the hell would they pick Star Wars as their next project. That’s gonna be like almost the same amount of time when it’s all said and done.

Do any of you have that one tv show that is just so close to your heart? Like you could watch all these other shows; but when you go back to that one, you just feel like you’ve stumbled your way home after being lost for a little while. Maybe the show ended years ago, maybe the show is still airing or is on hiatus, but no matter what the same holds true; when you see it, or talk about it, it feels like home.

Oh fuck. One of the writers of The Cursed Child Jack Thorne has been brought on as a writer for Episode IX. Seriously Lucasfilm? You had Rian Johnson why couldn't you just keep him

So I heard. We know nothing of Johnson’s script and I didn’t hear good things about Trevorrow, so… honestly can’t say this is worse or that I’m surprised.

Yeah but at least I feel safe and trusting with Rian as a writer/director just based on his previous films especially Brick and Looper and the work he did as director on in my opinion the two best episodes of Breaking Bad 51 and Ozymandias. He's just a good filmmaker and knows how to tell a story.

Fucking love RLM and this video was great. Also just know that’s just part of their act, being obnoxious sarcastic hacks. They’re all major Star Wars fans for real

oh, that’s a relief to know tbh, but personally it made me go from “haha accurate” to “mmkay you know what fuck off”, because to the people watching that one video they don’t come off as sarcastic (unless they explicitly say so at the end, which they made me not want to watch)

If you really wanna see them go over the top, just watch the first three minutes of their Rogue One review

Have you ever read the Star Wars infinities comics by Dark Horse from like 2002? It's an alternate universe comic that has a point of divergence which changes the whole trilogy. If you haven't I'd suggest you check them out, they're interesting

I have, I really liked them! It’s so weird yet awesome to think that they’re basically officially sanctioned AU fic graphic novels!

I love Yoda at the end of the Return of the Jedi one with the Death Star, he's just like "Hello bitch, miss me did you?" 😂😂😂😂

So the Han Solo movie is a really dumb and redundant and unnecessary film so when you've fired both your directors, your editors and had to hire an acting coach for the guy playing Han Solo, shouldn't you start wondering if this movie was such a good idea? But my opinion doesn't matter, it's still gonna come out and make a billion dollars and get praise because it's not from George Lucas, but at least now it'll probably come out in December instead of next May giving TLJ breathing room

lol yeah @ Lucasfilm pls cancel this mess and give my Han Solo loving ass a comic instead

Idk though, I think more and more people/press are becoming aware of how out of touch with the spirit and themes of the OT the new trilogy is, so it’s possible they won’t get as much praise and/or money for this as you’d think

Don't underestimate the power of dumb Star Wars fans, I mean look what they did for Rogue One........I'll admit it looked amazing but how anyone thought it was a good movie baffles me, they clearly didn't take those dreaded nostalgia glasses off

I may be hesitant about the last Jedi but I know the two things I'm looking forward to no matter what is 1. More BB-8 because he's cute and IMO better then R2 and 2. SNOKES Evil BB-8

It's another BB style droid that's black and gray but I don't know it's name so I'm just calling it Evil BB-8

For you and the anon who talked about the anthologies, The next logical anthologies Disney will probably consider are either the Obi Wan Solo film, a Boba Fett solo film, or an Old Republic film and god I hope it's the latter

I heard Boba Fett was in the cards, and ???? why??? who gives a fuck??? Yeah, anything is possible. I’d love an Obi-Wan movie just for Ewan McGregor, but I also don’t know what it could be about and if it’d make sense.

Avatar

Why? Because Boba Fett gives fans a boner for some reason and will probably make a shit ton of money. I don’t get it and won’t see it if it happens. It’s crazy to believe that he was introduced in the Holiday Special, and was the only good thing to come from it.

Yeah, it’s insane. I only watched parts of the Holiday Special and definitely not his part, but it’s weird he stuck out of something everyone claims to want to forget.

I highly suggest you watch the whole cartoon from it, especially for Han Solo because he looks ridiculous and hilarious
