It’s gross as fuck to tell people that no one will love them until they love themselves. Loving yourself is hard. Listen: you are loved, you are worthy of love and respect, and you can be loved even on the days when you see nothing in yourself to love.

I agree that this quote is entire nonsense. But from own experience, I can say that self-love IS important.

Other people will love you inspite of how you feel about yourself. However, until you learn to love yourself, you will not believe someone else could love you, no matter how many times they tell you they do. You will doubt and push them away because you don’t love yourself. (This often times is the result of bullying, body shaming or emotional abuse by family, friends and even parents).

The only way to accept and find love is to love yourself, to let love in and not push it away. Believe the people who tell you that they do love you the way you are! Do not trust the people who tell you you are unworthy or not lovable.
