I’ve spread my wings on another fandom and this is what I do with it
Thoughts on Eli Clark, and his true identity.
Eli Clark, in my opinion, is a character that made me confused. In historical terms. I know most of the Identity V community or probably even the developer doesn’t care, or maybe the developer team doesn’t want us to know about his true identity yet.
Since I’ve seen several historical inspired characters in this game (e.g., Joseph, Margaretha, Helena, etc.) and the historical inspiration is really diverse in terms of timeline and background.
So I’m curious about Eli. His character design is definitely the most fantasy-ish out of the bunch, and so it confuses me, which era Eli is actually from?
I read the wiki page of Eli and found something that might lead me to a conclusion yet also more contradiction.
Eli is a druid that lives in Britannia under Roman rule.
This will make some stuff straight like his owl. He found his owl under an oak tree. Druid can be literally translated as “oak seer”, and being a Celtic priest, often associated with animals. This will make his visions and make up (black paint on his face) kind of makes sense. Also, about Eli’s fiancee, her name is Gertrude. This hints us that she’s German, maybe Anglo-Saxon?
Here comes the contradiction. Eli’s name himself. Eli is a biblical name, yet it doesn’t make sense because he’s a druid, he’s supposed to not connect with any biblical references.
Also, NetEase : *GIVES HIM A SHIT TON OF BIBLICAL REFERENCE IN HIS SKINS*
Anyway, the surname, Clark hasn’t existed until 12th century. Meanwhile, the Roman Empire fell in the 5th century AD so we can’t say he‘s from Britannia, under the Roman rule if he has that surname.
One more contradiction. Eli came to Oletus Manor because of his financial problems (well his fiancee insisted him to accept the invitation letter because they’re broke). But if Eli is a druid, he won’t have any financial problem in the first place because druid is at top of the Celtic society and they don’t pay taxes, so why are you even broke in the first place, Eli?
I don’t know if this is either my analysis is wrong or NetEase is just doesn’t put enough research to his name or story

Kyoto Animation Fire: 33 Confirmed Dead After Devastating Arson Attack on Japanese Animation Studio
The sad and disturbing news broke today that 33 people were killed and many more injured in a suspected arson attack at Kyoto Animation (KyoAni) Studio in Kyoto Japan.
On July 18, at 10:30 local time the three-story building broke out in flames. A suspect is in custody and currently hospitalized after reportedly pouring what appears to be gasoline and setting the blaze.
The fire burned for five hours before fighter fighters were able to extinguish the flames. There were around 70 people inside the building when the fire started. 36 individuals are in the hospital, some in critical condition. With 33 confirmed dead, the Kyoto Animation fire is the largest mass murder in Japan since the Myojo 56 building fire nearly 20 years ago.
Kyoto Animation was founded in 1981 by former Mushi Pro staff. They are known for their groundbreaking work on many beloved anime series and films such as Lucky Star, Clannad, K-On!, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Free!, Violet Evergarder, A Silent Voice, and more.
Fans and industry professionals alike turned to social media to express their greif, sorry, and sympathies, with #PrayForKyoani reaching #1 trending worldwide on Twitter.
Sentai Filmworks has set up a gofundme, Help KyoAni Heal, which has raised over $500,000 dollars. Please note that at this time KyoAni has not made any statements requesting financial help or indicating what they may need in terms of support.

I actually hadn’t. I went to read the article and holy shit, this was super serious. According to the news, here’s what happened:
- There was an explosion-like fire in the studio and took up a big part of it. When the article was posted (about two hours after the incident started), the firefighters and police were working on it, but the fire had not yet been extinguished.
- The police found a guy with burns nearby, who eyewitnesses claim was being pursued by employees of the studio, and took him to the hospital under custody.
- The fire has thankfully not spread to the neighboring houses and buildings.
- The facility that got attacked is called “the first studio”. It’s KyoAni’s main studio, which was built in the 50′s. It’s the very core of the company as a whole.
- Apparently, the arsonist was purposefully targeting the employees. A woman came running out of the studio covered in flames asking for help and saying that the man had poured gasoline directly on her, and when the guy broke into the studio and set the fire, he yelled at everyone inside to die.
- He sent a death threat to KyoAni before the attack. The president of the company told the news that, although they don’t get protests on a daily basis, they do deal with it often. This was far from the first time that they had received a death threat. They normally resolve it with lawyers and protocol, but it takes a while and it seems that the attacker was much too fast.
- The liquid used in the crime was identified as petrol.
- It seems that the reason for the attack was plagiarism. A witness claims to have clearly heard him say “you ripped me off”.
- NHK has confirmed multiple deaths. The number of fatalities is 33 so far, which is about half of the 70 people who were in the studio at the time of the attack.
I’m baffled. Honestly never saw that shit coming. I’m just praying that the guy behind this will be punished.
Also, Sentai Films has created a donation page for KyoAni. They’re already past their goal and I think that’s amazing. But surely they might need even more than that, since the damage was enormous. Let’s keep this going for as long as we can, guys.

So I’m seeing people putting their spin on Crowley is Raphael theory, trying to explain how is Raphael worshipped if Crowley Fell before Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden, trying to match stories about Raphael with Crowley, trying to match Raphael’s patronage with Crowley’s personality etc. But honestly based on the series I would assume that in the Good Omens miniseries verse Raphael is not worshipped or even known to humans. The biggest clue to that and to why Crowley could be Raphael at all is the fact that despite being an important angel in many Abrahamic religions (even in Islam tho he’s called there differently) he is not running the head office next to Michael and Gabriel. He’s not even mentioned, his absence uncommented on and instead without an explanation we get Uriel and Sandalphon. Now this is complicated because every Abrahamic religion looks at this differently however the worship of Raphael is usually more prominent than that of Uriel and especially way more prominent than that of Sandalphon. Despite this we are introduced to those 4 archangels without any comment about this, implying that this is normal state of things in this universe, that there is no archangel Raphael. All of this says to me that maybe in Good Omens universe Raphael was meant to/would become one of the archangels to interact with and heal humans (like it’s said he did in our universe), however because he Fell before time itself he never got to do any of that and from the very start the management was organized differently (without Raphael there at all).

There were even more examples but outside of Protestants who only count Gabriel and Michael (and Lucifer), for everyone else it was Gabriel, Michael, Raphael and often Uriel and often even more archangels, but never Sandalphon.
So to me Raphael’s absence from the series itself greatly supports the Crowley is Raphael headcanon.

Happening right now in Hong Kong - the police is firing rubber bullets and using batons, pepper spray, tear gas and water cannons on peaceful protesters who took the streets to protest against the passing of a controversial law which would allow China to extradite people.
Protesters set up camps, gave out snacks and surgical masks before all of this started. Tanks are apparenrly out in the streets as well and people are being hurt as I write this, but they are not backing down.
Most of the protesters are young people, university students, even high schoolers.
The police are now stopping ambulances trying to help the injured and are taking people out of the ambulances and arresting them insteading of letting them get the help they need. This could cost people their lives, their vision (they aimed the rubber bullets in the heads of the protesters), etc. It’s like those police officers forgot what their jobs actually are and lost their humanity in the process.
The man covered in blood and lying on the floor in one of the photos above is a journalist and the police shot him in the head! The protesters moved to let the ambulance pass through and directed them to the man and let them pass to the hospital freely, clapping at the ambulance workers all the while. The man has since lost consciousness and his condition is reported as being serious.
Meanwhile, the police had since blocked other ambulance vehicles from passing through and arrested the injured.
A video of the journalist being shot was captured and is currently spreading on social media - in it, you can see that the man was just standing there and didn’t do anything to warrant being shot whatsoever.
