13.“Do you ever think we should just stop this?”  Erik asked, rubbing my hand with his thumb. “I mean, it’s not right for you to meet me here, hidden, while the real suitors are waiting for you. It’s never going to work out for us”

I closed my eyes. Sometimes he talks like this, as if we weren’t a real thing, but guess what? We are.

“Eikko, how many times do I have to say that…” 

“That you like me, and like to be with me, and that I’m the best part of your day. I know that. You’ve said it a hundred of times.” He sighed, taking a deep breath and staring into my eyes.

He was sitting beside me in the bed, in the middle of the night again, so nobody would find out.

“If you know, then stop asking me to end this.”

“I don’ even know what this is Eadlyn. Every night I sneak out to your room, we talk, I hold your hands, we kiss sometimes, but you’re still closed. I have no idea of what this means to you” He was looking in my eyes, and I’ve finally understood: I still hadn’t told how I feel about him.

“Eikko…” I whispered, leaning into him, with my hands around his neck “This is us. We are something very, very strong, and real. When this selection started, I didn’t believed I could ever fall in love with someone. At first I thought that maybe I was in love with Kile, and then Henri. But after that day when you first kissed me…” My eyes filled up with tears. I’d never been an emotional person before. He must’ve changed this about me too. 

“Eadlyn… Eady, why are you crying?” He looked into my eyes, letting go of my hands and touching my face, drying the tears from my eyes.

“Because I didn’t realized it until now. I thought I was just in love, with a great feeling, but now…now I know what it is.” I looked in his eyes, giving him my most sincere smile “I love you, Eikko. And I don’t care about this Selection anymore. I’m choosing you, Eikko, no matter what I’m gonna have to do”

I smiled again, and when he leaned to kiss me, I saw on his eyes that our happily ever after started now.

56.“Well this is awkward…” He looked at me, with the most serious expression in his face, but when the guard closed the door we started to laugh.

“I told you we should have locked it!” I punched his arm, with no strength at all, laughing and hiding my face in his chest

“You’re the queen, Eadlyn! You’re door can never be locked” He laughed, and I felt his hand on my hair. I love when he does that.

“Well, it should be locked at least when I’m with my Prince Consort, having a moment with him… in bed” I whispered the last part, feeling my cheeks turn red. Even after five months married, this kind of talk still makes me blush.

“We should be used to it already. How many times did it happened? Eight? I think it were eight…” He laughed and looked at me, and just by the look in his eyes my cheeks got even more red than they were before “You should really try not to be so loud…” He whispered and bit my ear.

I smiled, and started to open my mouth to say something, but a strong nausea hit me and I just jumped out of the bed and ran to the bathroom. All of the cookies I ate in the dinner were gone.

“Eady?! Are you okay?” I heard his voice calling for me, and his footsteps coming closer to the door that I left open. I stood up and opened the sink, washing my mouth and then looking at him. He looked so worried with me.

“I’m fine” I smiled. I probably looked a little pale, but I was fine. More than fine.  I walked to him, and hugged him with all the strength I had.

“What’s going on Eadlyn?” His voice sound worried. I smiled, my face pressed against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.

“I didn’t wanted to tell you like this, but clearly, this baby is like me, and wanted to make an announcement on his own” I smiled, and stared at him. His face changed from confused, to shocked, and then happy. I laughed when he raised me from the floor and kissed me with all his love.

“Eadlyn, are you pregnant?!” The happiness in his voice was the prettiest thing I’ve ever heard. My eyes filled up with tears when he held my hands and got down on his knees and looked at my belly.

“Hey baby” He whispered, and I couldn’t hold the tears anymore. I was so happy. “I love you, ok?” He smiled and kissed my belly, then looked up at me. “And I love you. Endlessly.”

“Endlessly” I whispered, smiling, looking inside those eyes that I love so much.
