Either not enough people are reading what I think, or that the ones who are are not doing it in enough ways. This should help in both cases.

Hi Dr. Tingle, have you ever considered writing a kids book? I think your combination of earnestness, whimsy, and a keen sense of the weird and wonderful would be a great combo for kids lit. Keep on being awesome!

yes i think it would be really nice to do a childrens book about a nice bigfoot or a space raptor but i would not want any buckaroos who were too young to accidentally stumble onto my other tinglers before that is appropriate.

solution i have come up with is that i could use a new pen name that is ALSO basically my name i already use maybe something like CHARLES T or something like that.

so yes i think i would like to do that someday i am just really dang busy at the moment but i think that would prove love and be very dang fun

How about C.T. Buckaroo? Sufficiently similar that We Will Know, but different enough to avoid accidental discovery by the crumb-crunchers.

Reposting from the last time I saw this...

I had to watch this a couple of times when it came out to find the cheat cuts: 30 seconds, when they throw the pad up to the Becha on the second floor 30 seconds later when they crash through the boxes about 20 seconds later as they go out the window But even with them, we’re looking at 30-second long single tracking shots. This was a positively spectacular fight sequence. If you want to be REALLY impressed, seek out Ultraman Ginga S Episode 12 - “To Meet You!” which features among a lot of other magnificence, a TWO MINUTE AND TEN SECOND SINGLE TRACKING SHOT FIGHT,

Okay I have to tap about this somewhere, and while I have been using Twitter more recently, this is the best place to yap, but anyways MUG ROOT BEER

This has been the Mug Root Beer logo since 2003, you know it I know, we love and that dog named Dog. You go to the store, you see mug, this is what you see. You go to place where they have mug in the soda fountain, you see something like this

It's expected! It's just how it is!

...But there's an arcade near my work that has the logo on the fountain like This

And that's not right. It can't be. I mean you look up Mug Logo Redesign and this doesn't come up at all! Why would this place have a different mug logo, but have everything else be the same?

...Do you know the Pepsi Design Documents? I would hope you do, if you're this invested in this post about a soda logo, but if not, look up Pepsi Arnell Design Documents. Wait, Arnell... That's the advertising form who did the Pepsi rebrand for the weird smile face. Maybe if you go to their website at peterarnell.com then open the menu then brands then select brands and scroll down...

Well let's open it up and see-

The different logo. It's the different logo. The one from the arcade.

But... Why? Why advertise it on your site, when as far as Ive seen this "rebrand" has only affected one real world location? I don't understand. Was there a cancellation of the rebrand? Is it in testing? Why have it be this way???

One-shot tabletop RPG where you play as a bunch of medieval English peasants trying to trick the royal tax-collectors into believing that your village has no taxable assets. It plays out exactly like a new-school heist caper RPG, except in reverse, with the players devising and carrying out the scheme which they must then prevent the NPC "party" from uncovering. Do you fake a plague? Pretend to be mad? Construct a second, much shittier village and try to keep the tax collectors so distracted they never think to ask what's behind that hill?

The Christmas Story sequel "It Runs in the Family" (later hastily retitled to A Summer Story) had a couple of great segments, like a new adaptation of The Gravy Boat Riot (Ol' Shep fans will know) and a great segment about how takes were levied in the midwest at the time.

The tax assessor would determine the value of your home (and the taxes on same) based on everything IN the house as well as the house itself. So there was a cottage industry of migrating cheap appliances from house to house as the assessor visited, to drive the value down

One of my previous bosses, the Archivist for the State of -redacted for privacy-, had one of these (or very very similar prototype format) that he kept in his briefcase.

Whenever someone in a meeting would say something along the lines of “we don’t need to worry about that/budget money for that/do that, everything is digital now!” He would pull this bad boy out of his briefcase and say “this has digital files on it, please access them. Oh, you can’t? Well what about this? or these?” And pull out a selection floppy discs and CD types.

And that is how he fought the good fight for a budget for the archives because digital preservation is expensive and difficult and there are a million different hardware and software types and technological obsolescence is a nightmare.

Alex Winter crowdsourced a tidy sum to preserve Frank Zappa's musical works, much of which was recorded on long-abandoned (but at the time, bleeding edge) digital formats that he had to find and repair readers for, and then find ways to convert that data to modern formats.

T'weren't easy.

BF Borgers, Trump Media & Technology Group’s independent accounting firm, was charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday with widespread fraud and accused of operating a “sham audit mill.”

The SEC made no allegation of wrongdoing against Truth Social owner Trump Media (DJT), which is not mentioned in the charges from the regulator.

The SEC accused BF Borgers of “deliberate and systemic failures,” including “fabricating” audit documentation and falsely representing to clients its work would comply with accounting standards.

The agency described this as “massive” fraud taking place between January 2021 and June 2023 that impacted more than 1,500 SEC filings and more than 500 public companies.

The SEC imposed a severe penalty against BF Borgers, permanently suspending the firm from practicing as accountants before the agency effective immediately. The firm and its owner, Benjamin Borgers, also agreed to pay $14 million collectively in fines.

“Borgers and his sham audit mill have been permanently shut down,” Gurbir Grewal, director of the SEC’s enforcement division, said in a press release.

Public companies that have hired BF Borgers will need to find new accounting firms, the SEC alerted companies in a separate statement on Friday.

Trump Media announced plans to do just that.

Meet the alien generation with Garreth Gibson's The Faculty artwork in the style of the Breakfast Club poster. 11.69x16.53 prints, limited to 70, are available for £13 (approx $16).

This was my little sister's first "body snatcher" movie.

We went to see The Faculty with a group of maybe five people, including my little sister.  Most of us are pretty knowledgeable sci fi and horror fans, so we came out comparing it to the other “body snatcher” films we’d seen, pointing what was new, what we’d seen done better elsewhere, etc.

It was the first body snatcher film my sister had ever seen, and she came out of the film positively BOUNCING.  She was filled with excitement and the whole film was SO COOL!!!!

And I kind of stood there and looked at the rest of us and said “Remember when that’s how we used to come out of movies?”

“FlashPoint” has gained influence on the Christian right by portraying Donald Trump as a singular leader anointed by God to save America.

May 3, 2024, 6:00 AM MST

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The audience of about 1,500 people waved small American flags and chanted “USA! USA! USA!” as television cameras began filming last Friday inside a Regent University ballroom. Many in the crowd wore red “Make America Great Again” hats. Some carried Bibles.

They had paid $60 each to attend a live taping of “FlashPoint,” a national TV program that’s won loyal viewers with a unique blend of pro-Trump political commentary and prophetic messages about God’s divine plans for America.

Over the next three hours, the audience heard the same overarching message that “FlashPoint” broadcasts three times a week on the Victory Channel television network and various streaming platforms: The world has entered its final years. Jesus will soon return. But Christians are not meant to wait idly while evil runs rampant; they are called to occupy positions of power and influence in society. And in the short term, that means putting Donald Trump back in the White House.

“I watch to get the truth,” said one “FlashPoint” attendee, who described a “supernatural” rush of clarity the first time she found the show while flipping channels two years ago.

devoutly religious people are expert at ignoring evidence before their eyes in favor of what they have been told to believe, so this behavior is not surprising.

It's saddening, but not surprising.

The Netflix series Kid Cosmic was originally pitched at Disney Television Animation as a proof of a show for Disney XD & Disney Channel.

Kid Cosmic got passed in favor of The Owl House by Dana Terrace according to Craig McCracken in 2023 on his Created By Craig McCracken! panel at Gallery Nucleus, Disney would let him keep the rights to pitch it to Netflix Animation

The original pilot had Nicholas Cantu ("The Amazing World of Gumball", Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem") as Kid before Jack Fisher took the role on the Netflix version.

Other early concepts was episodes on Kid's school and Jack McBrayer voicing a FBI Agents who could have been sidekicks to Biker in Black.

Losing 2022 Attorney General Candidate Abe Hamadeh has filed another lawsuit trying to overturn the results of his race.

This makes it his fourth attempt.

Hamadeh’s filing contends Maricopa County failed to test its ballot printers, leading to thousands of people not able to vote. He lost by 280 votes.

This is the new standard play: Heads I win, tails you cheated.

I don't expect to see a Republican accept a vote outcome for years, unless/until something very major happens in the party that forces them to abandon the former president's tactics.

Say, a shattering loss at every level of the card that wakes them up to the fact that they are radically out of phase with the populace.
