Is vidcon 4 days long now?
VidCon US 2017 begins on June 21 with all-day registration followed by an evening of fun!
Are still doing the chaperone wrist band rule?
Our Chaperone Policy has changed. Children under the age of 13, must be accompanied by an adult (18+). That adult must purchase the same ticket track as the child with whom they are attending. Adults chaperoning anyone over the age of 13 will still need to purchase tickets in order to enter the con.
Can you explain the chaperone policy to me? I'm planning on going this year but I'm slightly confused.
Children under the age of 13 (12 & under), must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (18+). That adult chaperone must purchase the same type of ticket as the child with whom they are attending. So, for example, if you are under 13 and you would like to purchase a Community ticket, your chaperone would also need to purchase a Community ticket in order to accompany you.

Basically, more of everything! We want to make sure we’re able to feature as many creators and talents and ideas as possible, so we’re inviting even more featured creators from all over the online video community and adding three new stages at the Anaheim Convention Center, open to all three ticket types. HOTELS If you need to book a hotel, we've got a discounted group rate at a bunch of hotels near the convention center. A small block of rooms at the Hilton will be available to Industry pass holders in a few weeks. Also, we will have a small block of rooms at the Marriott available soon. California hotels require the person checking in to be over 18, so keep that in mind. You'll be joining us at VidCons in Melbourne, Australia, and Anaheim, but will be working full time out of our Missoula, MT office. You will also be guests’ point of contact at our events, solving multiple problems simultaneously, and performing well under pressure.
We're an events company. Our products are experiences and, if we're doing our jobs well, they're amazing, life-altering experiences. Nonetheless, sometimes things go wrong, and when that happens it's our job (and maybe yours) to make it right again.
VidCon is growing a lot right now, so we need someone at our office in beautiful Missoula, MT who is patient, empathetic, an excellent communicator, and absolutely baller at not being misunderstood. You can line up for your signing any time from 1 hour before its scheduled start time to 1 hour after. For example, if you have a 5 PM signing, you could line up between 4 PM and 6 PM.

Not at all! Wear whatever you want (within reason).
" Creators won’t be able to linger after panels and the audience will not be allowed to approach the panelists. " What about all the creators coming that aren't on panels? Are you saying creators in general won't be wandering around anymore because it's not going to be safe?
There are some creators who we ask (and have always asked) to not wander the con because it is dangerous (more out of concern for mobs of people running knocking people over than anything else). But other creators who do not have the same high profile choose for themselves where to be and what to do. If large crowds form and interfere with the flow of people through the convention, we ask them to end their impromptu event.
Here’s the concern with post-panel stuff. We have seen in the past is people rushing the stage after a panel to give gifts or say ‘hi’. What we ask you to understand is that, according to our security consultants, a crowd of people rushing to get into close quarters with a creator after that creator has let the whole world know exactly where they will be several weeks in advance is an impossible situation to control and so we are not allowing it this year.

Security at VidCon
Hello,
This has been an awful weekend for our community and our world. Christina Grimmie was an innovator, and an artist, and she was so so kind. Losing her is devastating. And the attack in Orlando likewise drives home how much hate there is in the world.
It’s awful. These things seem impossible, but they are real.
As you might expect, security at VidCon will be different this year and we wanted to let you know what that means for you.
In previous years we partnered with local law enforcement to ensure rapid response to emergencies and this year will be no different, but we have requested an enhanced presence, so expect to see more uniformed officers. Further, we will have undercover police patrolling the entire event. Every panel will have at least three security guards, and the event as a whole will have over 450 security officers in attendance. This is nearly twice as many as last year.
Part of our original security plan included posting security and law enforcement in the Hilton and that is unchanged. VidCon attendees will not be admitted to the Hilton without being properly credentialed, and loitering around entrances is expressly prohibited. A new procedure for this year, but already part of our plan, is to fence the entire perimeter of official VidCon spaces. Registered attendees will only be able to access the event via designated entrances and exits. This includes the AwesomenessTV Festival and the entire Anaheim Convention Center, including lobbies.
We also need to enforce some new policies:
First, we are implementing a new security feature at the Twitter Meet and Tweet Hall. Before entering the hall, every attendee will need to pass through a metal detector and all bags will be checked, no exceptions. Every signing line, as in previous years, will have a dedicated security officer as well.
Previously, after panels many fans have come up to give creators gifts or letters or to ask questions and talk. This will no longer be a thing. Creators won’t be able to linger after panels and the audience will not be allowed to approach the panelists. This sucks; obviously, we don’t want to build a wall between creators and their communities, but it is unfortunately necessary.
We will also be performing random bag checks throughout the event. We ask that you be sympathetic and patient with the security staff about this.
As in all years we want VidCon to be fun, but you can’t have fun without being safe, and the VidCon Team is committed to making sure that everyone’s safety is the number one priority.
If at anytime you feel like you are part of or are in observation of an unsafe situation, please immediately alert the first security staff person you see, or otherwise communicate the situation by using any of the following methods (which be printed on the back of your VidCon Badge):

I signed up for the lottery using the buddy system, but I'm not sure if my buddy will be able to be at the convention center on Wednesday to pick up our badges. Can I pick them up for both of us?
Because we put your wristbands on your wrist when you check in at registration, you will not be able to pick them up for your friend; they’ll have to register and receive their wristbands themselves.
