note — 2.1 broke me (the whole quest knocked at the door of my house, shook my hands, congratulated me, and invited itself into my home before pouring water on my face, slapping me, throwing me around, and left with the door open, all the while, my family watched). this is day 1 of writing for aventurine until i have him.

“you have a lot of moles.” his voice, despite a gentle whisper, tears through the silence of the night like a drop of water that ruptured and disturbed the surface of the pond. “especially here.” he gently taps on your skin; they seem like stars, he swallows the words back down. 

you feel aventurine’s finger trace on the back of your neck and the curve of your shoulders, seemingly drawing—or connecting something. it was ticklish, the way he gently drags his hand and ghosts over your skin, a soft laugh slipping past your lips (you’ll capture his touch on your skin as if you were a sinner remembering how forgiveness tasted on your lips). there was something intimate that lingers in the air between you two as you lay in his bed with him, a fleeting moment that will be inked into your mind. 

(the both of you leave your titles behind, mixed together with the scattered objects on the floor, laid on the cold ground to be picked up and worn later like a shiny medal even if you weren’t proud to have them.)

“they say it’s where your lover kissed you the most in your past life.” you stir in your position as you speak, coming to face him and meet his pretty jewel-like eyes—how alluring it was, painted with vivid colors yet it never shines. the sound of mirth laughter bubbles from his throat, a pleasant melody to your ears.

Aventurine who in the early stages of your relationship, is absolutely not fond of physical touch.

He promises you that it’s not you who’s the problem.. it’s more of his traumatizing past that weighs him down.

But how could he ever explain why? Him venting about all his problems to someone he just got together with days ago? Oh lord the overwhelming thoughts and.. ah, his hand is shaking.

Except you notice this, and assure him that whatever he proposes to keep off limits, you will respect those boundaries. Aventurine was very much relieved and felt the stress fade as he explained in not too much detail. but enough for you to understand.

He’s thankful whenever you back off and apologize the moment you realize you were doing too much physical intimacy. You would show your love in other ways such as morning texts and gifts, to which he would return the favor.

If you both mutually consent, you could try a bit of physical touch. From there it starts off from small hand holding, with the hope that it’ll get better from there.

you lay in bed, tossing and turning uncomfortably as the mattress groaned noiselessly beneath you. your restless eyes wander around the room ceaselessly until they settle on aventurine, whose sleeping figure was illuminated only by the gentle glow of moonlight peeking through the curtain. he was sleeping with his body turned away from you, his side rising and falling with every soft breath he took.

you sighed, hugging your plushy pillow tightly as you fixed your gaze at the ceiling above. “are you asleep?”

your soft spoken voice lingered in the air. after a few moments of silence, you closed your heavy eyelids firmly— you hadn’t expected him to be awake anyway. 

but suddenly, you feel a small shuffle beside you, followed by a low, raspy grunt. the gambler’s voice was barely audible under the sound of the rustling fabric. “...no,” he murmured.

“yeah, i know, i know— wait what?!” your eyes fluttered open, and you turned your head to meet your boyfriend’s gaze. he was now facing you, barely awake and blinking sleepily. “b-baby, you’re awake?!” you exclaimed, inching closer to him. “how long have you been awake?!”

“for quite a while now,” he yawns quietly, “i heard you moving around and felt you kicking your feet.” aventurine rubs his eyes and blinks a few times, trying to focus on you in the dim light.

you couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt in your heart for disturbing his sleep, especially considering how busy he’s been these days. “i’m sorry, rine…”

a playful smile forms on his lips, and he beckons you to come even closer as his hand reaches out to gently stroke your cheek. “you know, i’ve heard that lying on your boyfriend’s chest can help you fall asleep faster.”

your eyes widen and you look at him with a surprised expression before giggling softly, “oh, is that so?” you teased, “in that case, i think i should give it a try.”

“mmh,” he grumbles softly, lifting you effortlessly onto his chest. you quickly nuzzled your face into his neck, your arms resting on either side of his body. aventurine pressed a chaste kiss on your head before combing his fingers through your hair with one arm draped around you.

“so warm…” your voice muffled against his chest. you close your eyes slowly at the soothing gesture of his fingers, which was gradually lulling you to sleep.

“it feels great doesn’t it, y/n?” he asks quietly, his other arm running up and down your back. “are you comfortable?”

he waits for a response but pauses once he notices the steady rise and fall of your breath. “...y/n?”

his eyebrows knit together, groaning when he takes sight of your peaceful sleeping state. “seriously… now i’m awake?”
