ancient greek word of the day: κακοθερής (kakotherēs), unfitted to endure summer heat

this literally means “bad at summer” pass it on

Reblog if you, too, are bad at summer

i think its funny how facial scars are seen as like a major character plot point where they reveal that someone tried to kill their dad or something when i know a ton of ppl (including myself) who have facial scars bc they rlly arent uncommon and all of them are like. from tripping and falling as a toddler

i could use this post as an oppritunity to talk about how scarring is a natural and human thing and everyone has scars, and larger scars as well as facial ones and burn scars should’nt only exist in media as a storytelling device but im also gonna just say that your oc is still hot as hell if he has a massive slash going through his eye i just think it would be funnier if he got it from falling down the stairs and then picking the scab too many times

good morning to swamp witches, bisexuals who sing, bastard sons of kings, flirtatious assassins, good good boys, alcoholic divorcees, anyone who doesn't understand cultural gender norms, women who went completely grey in their 40s, and the statue that once stood in the town square

I’m not known for metal gear takes here but that one codec btwn Snake and Chris in Ghost Babel where he 1. opens up to the female companion about the specifics of his trauma and 2. reveals that he liked being called a hero after killing his dad did so much work character-wise.

far from being on the receiving end of liquid’s shaming speech in 1, snake admits that he liked the praise of his own volition. seeing him despise himself for it makes him an active agent in his own development as a character. mainline games skirt around snake indulging vanity/his ego via his profession (games like 2 echo that he’s “good at what he does” due to conventional training but don’t necessarily make that competency or the reaction to it a sticking point of his moral compass the way GB does. canon!snake doesn’t give a shit how ppl see him and views his struggle as one of either global necessity or survival), so seeing it here felt like a landmark character study. even if Ghost Babel is non-canon, that game has the sauce
