Hello Liya!!

I stumbled on your blog and ao3 yesterday and omg just flabbergasted about how you portray characters (especially hoyo characters!!!!) that I binged all your works. Your characterization for Sunday especially just *chefs kiss* and don’t get me started on your characterization for other characters…..(I absolutely adored Chrysopoeia😭😭😭❤️ and, and, ETERNITY AND A YEAR). Anyways I love your writing and style, to me it flows just so so smoothly and beautifully. I hope you have an amazing day❤️

hi id like you to know i just bingeread both ur sunday fics instead of studying for my math test which is tomorrow. which i will definitely fail but i dont even care cause GODDD your writing feels like a blessing to my Life. you Get Him . normally i can't fully engage with x readers, not at the fault of the writer but for some reason imagining myself takes me out of the experience, but i think i literally forgot everything else while i was reading. like i was Immersed. i dont care who or what its about in the future but please never stop writing, you're an insanely good author. anyways sorry for the ramble hope you have a great day!!

(referencing this fic and this fic)

Aw, thank you for this sweet ask!!! <3 I'm glad you enjoyed my writing! I'm always happy to hear when people get absorbed into my works, because then I feel like I did a good job making them compelling! I also feel like I have a such a specific view on Sunday, so it's also nice to hear that you think I get him (which is high honor). He lives rent free in my mind and I think about him way too much LOL

I think it's fine if you don't see reader as "you"! I actually don't see reader as the audience, but as their own character tbh. "Reader," the character, is someone else whose perspective I'm just happening to read or write from. In general, I think second person POV is really fun tool and you can do a lot of neat things with it!

Anyways, good luck with your math test tomorrow! And thank you again for sending this in! It really does mean a lot, and I love getting asks like this, haha! I definitely won't stop writing because I don't know how to shut up ever and I love writing too much to stop lol. You have a good day too ^^

the birds weep for you.

summary: what does it mean for a bird to live in a cage?

notes: 1.9k words, author's notes, power play, unhealthy/complicated relationships, character + relationship study

i.

The bird flits against the rafters uselessly, wings beating in an eternal circle against the roof. Its small beak lets out distressed chirps, a language lost to human ears. The passing guests glance at it and then pass on, even as it spins uselessly, desperate for an escape.

Liya my dear my darling my love you are sooo correct for your sunday powerplay but also consider: i am actually in love with him (plants seeds in ur mind of him reveling in the deep-seated innocence of your TRUE feelings that simply reinforce his idea that paradise can be realized through force and regulations. But from the way you fought against the answer, he doesn't dare ask if you want to love him. That you do is enough for now)

Kenna my beautiful, my sweet, you are so fun and so correct as always <3

Sunday finally has the proof that order and regulation will lead to his paradise, but he also the unsettling realization that he can impose order but he can’t make people want it <3 sighs dreamily. When you can control responses but never the heart

You guys know how Sunday can force people to tell the truth. I was thinking of a way to fuck with him and it’s to create a scenario where the truth is the one thing he doesn’t want to hear.

When he uses his silly little powers in the vain hope that you’re lying to him, he instead has to confront that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, you were being honest. And this WILL tear him up inside.

Power play! Who’s really in control? He can make you confess things, but you can also confess things that he didn’t want to hear. Lol

song: two birds on a wire by regina spektor

- there are so many bird motifs in this fic, from the metaphors to the title. i think I went a little overboard, but bird motifs are THE primary metaphor when it comes to Sunday, and I'm personally compelled by the caged bird imagery, so I had a lot of fun including all of them lol. But let me elaborate some more on the title! Why are the birds weeping? Out of joy, out of sorrow, out of pity for Sunday? He most likely doesn't know, and in a way, he's a weeping bird, too. He's as trapped as the bird he keeps in a cage on his desk, even though he wants to trap reader too (lol). It's cages within cages with him!

- this is partially a Sunday character study, and a study of his relationship with reader! He's very messy, and I think even now, I'm still pondering his motivations and his mindset. It's really interesting to explore and dig into his head. I think negotiating the contradiction between his desire to mess with reader and to save everyone was also pretty fun! He struggles with someone who doesn't fall in line the way everyone else does.

- I pushed myself to make seven vignettes because I thought it would fit Sunday's religious theming a lot! The world was created in seven days, and understanding Sunday takes seven drabbles lol. Additionally, the vignettes range from narration to scene, from Sunday's interiority to his interactions with others. I wanted to play with form a little when it comes to exploring his complexity!

- This is a loose sequel to vestigial structures, but both pieces can be read as a standalone! I just wanted to write from Sunday's perspective. Both Sunday and reader have complex feelings towards each other that run a bit deeper than love, and they also both have a habit to observe each other/pick up the other's habits!

Hi! I saw your top 5 otoge games list, and I was so happy that you put Dandelion in 5. Sadly, I don't see many people talking about this game. Do you remember which was your favorite route when you played? (Also, have you ever played Cheritz's Nameless?)

It's so nice to meet another fan who's played Cheritz's other games!! I've played both Nameless and Dandelion, though I think Dandelion made a stronger impression on me!!

For Dandelion, I really loved Jieun's and Jiwoo's route! I really love the cute ones and the tsunderes lmfao, and Jieun's ending was different in the others in a way that felt really fitting for him. For Nameless, I went in thinking I would like Teo and Yeonheo the most, but Lance really grew on me!!

Odile's Soliloquy [Honkai: Star Rail]

Fandom: Honkai: Star Rail

Characters: Sparkle

Notes: 1.2k words, reader is referred to as prince but it's symbolic, sparkle has definitely disappeared an undescribed loved one of yours at BEST (and killed at worst)

Sparkle was a woman of many talents. An ardent method actor, she could become anything she wanted to be. Since the beginning, her name deserved to be up in lights, glittering over an entire city and catching the ardor of all. This talent of hers only grew until she could don any mask, becoming more mirage than person. Sparkle could be anything. She could be anybody your heart desired.

…except the one your heart desired.

Different anon but I feel like between the dreammaster totally honing in on Sunday's inherent personality as a kid and pushing those ideals using the Order as a backbone and his personal desire to be the strong one to protect others, it's less about him thinking he knows best and more him being led to believe that and/or him being the one willing to shoulder it so he will guide them anyway because he has good pure intentions, therefore is objectively "right"/"knows best"

(spoilers for 2.2!)

It's definitely true that manipulation from the dreammaster and Sunday's own personal values shaped who he is today!! I won't deny that that's definitely a big influence on who he is, considering how part of his disillusionment in the world comes from watching others take advantage of people, and even unwittingly being a part of the damage (ie the man who lied to him in the priest confession). The dreammaster did pick him and Robin on purpose, too, so his upbringing did influence him as well.

I think, personally, I just lean towards a reading of Sunday where he has more agency over his actions. It makes him infinitely more interesting to me if he leans into some of these aspects on his own, instead of it fully being manipulation from another party or completely pure intentions. I'm just not interested in reading him in a way where he's simply misunderstood or where he has been lead to believe this, because it denies him his agency as a character by putting the onus of his actions on external circumstances or other people.

There is a lot of moral ambiguity to who he is and what he does. His intentions are both kind and selfish, he loves people and yet condescends and doesn't trust them in equal measure. There is a lot of beautiful contradictions in his character that's fun to explore and play around with. Besides, at the end of the day, regardless of how he got there, he is still someone who tries to force his own ideals onto others and "thinks he knows best," though the way you can read that is different. Even if he was open for dialogue and ideological debates with the express crew, he still has a stubborn streak and is set in his ways. His intentions and the impact of his actions don't always line up, and wrinkles in a character's facade, or moments of tension in who they are, are very fun to pick at!!

Everyone can tell when I’m obsessed with a fictional character again bc my blog activity will spike like crazy and I’ll drop character analysis and several fics before the initial rush dies down and then I go to peacefully work on my other projects
