Random Midnight Ghost Hunt Thoughts
So I said earlier morning yesterday that SPR gang is well-rounded found family, and to further elaborate on that, I’m going to word vomit about how it’s such an awesome group of ghost hunters. Everyone has something to bring into the table:
Bou-san -> Buddhism
Ayako -> Shintoism/Doctor
Masako -> Mediumship/Sort of Shamanism
John -> Catholicism
Lin -> Onmyoudou (or, more aptly, Taoism)
Naru -> Parapsychology/Psychic Researcher
Mai and Yasuhara are like the odd ones out, but Mai can be considered a budding psychic researcher too. Yasuhara isn’t a psychic but he can offer some smart & out-of-the-box opinions, so he can be the objective mediator. The beauty of this found family is that they managed to bridge the gap between different set of religious & paranormal beliefs into a working relationship where everyone’s different skills complement one another. Everyone is given ways for their exorcisms and or abilities to shine. And they all nurtured respect for one another’s skills/beliefs as time goes by.
Naru with his empirical method also helps ground the group in a way that there is balance. He’s there to question people’s perception & beliefs as well as test them and how they hold up. Mai is already perceptive and observant, and she works very well to complement Naru’s different perspectives as well as challenge everyone’s biases with her intuition.
Oh and actually there’s one thing Mai can be a good source of: URBAN LEGENDS. When we were first introduced to Mai, it’s clear she likes horror storytelling & is very good at it. Throughout the series, we can tell that she’s very knowledgeable about horror stories and the occult. It’s a pastime, but with that, it’s also a solid start for psychic research; she already has the curiosity and interest for the paranormal. Adding theoretical knowledge that Naru brings, it’s like an ontological process for her.
Overall, our beloved SPR gang is a jackpot gathering in itself because it’s like a team of geniuses at some point, cracking the hardest paranormal cases in Japan. Just can’t help but further appreciate Ono-sensei’s creativity as well as radical(?) view of having an inter-religious dialogue in the form of characters in a light novel back in the 1980s. Until now, I don’t think there’s ever been a story as accepting of different religious & paranormal beliefs as Ghost Hunt tbh.
And that’s why it lives in my mind rent-free too XD
Just thinking about Naru and Mai’s similarities after a work meeting lol Really quick but just that Naru and Mai having found family with the SPR gang methinks & it’s such a well-rounded family too.
The comic coming in this weekend hopefully. I fell asleep last week lol but also had to do so much family stuff over the weekend, barely rested.
This week, I have meetings, more studying, etc. It’s hard to fit in things after work hours because chores & then I prepare for dinner, so cooking, w/c takes hours sometimes & I get distracted. Then dinner & then I fall asleep🧍♀️
I need some discipline, but I will try to make time for breaks. I wish I don’t have to prepare meals 😭Or do things that take time. It’s hard to focus when I have to do trivial things in between.
Last time I was rereading one of my NaruXMai fanfics because I wanted to edit as well as review what I had written before so
//spoilers on this part of Chapter 3
Last time I updated this was 10 years ago??? 😭But anyway, I had planned it long ago and wrote a bit of why Naru was like that. The children revealed something more than what I had written on this chapter, and that something more made Naru all the more sad.
When it comes to writing Naru being sad, it’s hard lol But also I always think back on what Madoka said about him not being a robot. And yeah I go from there. Writing fanfics is such a learning process too. You get it right or wrong & learn from it after much more reflection.
Anyway, yeah, I was rereading this chapter because I wanted to finish this story. But finishing this one is such a magnanimous task 😭I think my first finished fanfic took me 2 years? The next more than that?? Even then it still needs a lot of editing. Just never get satisfied until it’s perfect for my current self. And English being a 3rd language, I aimed to check more than twice all the time, line-by-line.
I think I can work on a GH short comic tonight. I will make time for it. If I don’t fall asleep unintentionally (a bad habit of mine 😭), I should post the oneshot tomorrow.

I love their banters so much.
It’s nearly April and I’m still stuck with many things.
Just have to study a lot of things in between TT
I haven’t been able to work on anything GH-wise lately🥺Will keep on trying to make time for it. It’s been rough first months this year😭

Was hoping to get a reprieve this week with my grandma gone to my uncle’s house, but life is a 🤬& my grandma got shingles 😭
So then my mom & uncle decided to have her recover at our place. I can’t find my immunization records rn, so I had to ask my former uni if they still have it in their system 😭Just wanted to check if I had the chickenpox vaccine as I had recalled before I came to this country.
Life really knows how to throw lemon curve balls 😭
I had been taking care of my grandma for 3 weeks. Before that, it was 2 months. Idk why she always gets sick when she’s with them & they don’t know how to take care of her all of a sudden when they’ve been together for more than a decade before I came here.
Anyway, family stuff I’ve been dealing a lot with recently.

I believe Gene was about to tell Mai that he wasn’t dream Naru all along. At this scene, Mai still didn’t know that Naru & Gene were twins. However, Naru finally found his body or where it was thrown, altho it’s probably decomposed to not be noticeable. Still, with their parents coming, Gene probably surmised that Mai will find out sooner or later too. He probably also thought Naru can tell her instead, thereby he was gone when Naru appeared to ask Mai what she was up to.
Feeling like I made a big detour this week and Idk how to feel about it. At one point, somewhat blessed. At another, I’m not sure what I’m getting into and if I can do it, gawd.
How to be brave, how to reroute myself so I don’t panic and stay clueless?

the situation in sudan is dire. allied militants are targeting sudanese people in darfur on the basis of nothing but their ethnic identiy. telecommunications in sudan have all but shut down, impeding access to details of the Sudanese genocide that’s being committed as we speak. people are being killed, their homes are being looted, they're having to relocate to other cities--only to fall prey to militant forces again, which are going out of their way to pillage more and more areas. although it's been difficult getting hold of footage in sudan, the ones that have managed to come out have been entirely horrific. just like palestine, sudan is falling victim to ethnic cleansing.
