‘’Oh yeah, and where’s somewhere?’’ Harvey asked, another wolfish grin being shot her way. He leaned further into the bar, eyes trained on her face. Okay sure Deirdre was a little on the slim side for Harvey’s usual tastes, but then again so was Fish. Deirdre was a beautiful woman with an attitude to boot. So yeah he’d flirt, then again Harvey would flirt with almost any woman.
‘’Yeah I’ve been told I shoulda’ been a bartender. Bein’ a detectives in my blood though.’’ He added. He completely ignored the other guy, Gideon could look at Harvey like that all he wanted but unless Deirdre told him to he couldn’t lay a hand on him.
‘’In a city like this it could be anyone, with any number of stupid reasons. Though, judging by the six inch stiletto sticking out of the guys neck I’d say that narrows it down to about, uhm, half the population. I mean hey, if this guy was as handsy as you say, I wouldn’t blame the broad that did it. Still gotta find her though.’’

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” She responded, tone nothing short of coy as she stared at the Detective, head canting to the right.

“Hmm, I can’t see you doing anything but working for Gotham’s finest.” Deirdre mused, eyes following Gideon as he left, fingers drumming against the bar top, grin amused once she observed the interaction between her assistant manager and Harvey. “But hey-if you ever need another job...” It was hard to tell if she was teasing or not.

Her eyes flashed with excitement as Harvey spoke.  What could she say? She found the criminal side of Gotham tantalizingly enthralling--it was part of the reason she did what she did. “Fascinating.” Resting her chin in her hand, she leaned forward slightly. “Careless of her though. If I wanted someone dead, I’d be far more careful about it.”

Moments later, Gideon returned, handing several photographs to Harvey. Most showed Frank with a little blonde thing on his arm. “I’m afraid we didn’t catch his ID, but he left with one of our dancers--Sarah, I believe. Jack says that Sarah has yet to show up for work.” Deirdre shot Gideon a sharp look, which he chose to ignore as he gave a small nod before returning to the back of the club.

“Well, there you have it.”

jerome listened intently as the girl droned on and on, perking up only slightly at the mention of her— guard dog…? eyeing the man with a raised brow, jerome let out a wheeze of a laugh, “down boy—” -before flinging the switchblade at the man, embedding it in the wall behind him, —inches from his head.

sighing over dramatically, jerome rolled his eyes. “ok, fine— you’re right.                 where would be the fun in that?”

Gabriel turned to stare at the knife, eyes narrowing as he turned to glare at Jerome, gun raising. “Son of a--”

Enough.” Deirdre raised a hand, turning in her seat to shoot Gabriel a pointed glance. After a moment, the gun lowered, the man returning to his seat-but not without grumbling his disagreement, muttering something about ‘shooting that smug look off his  face’.

“You seem to make friends everywhere you go, Jerome.” Her voice held a tone of annoyance as she faced him again, arms folding across her chest. But at the admission that she was right, the corner of her mouth twitched upward into a smirk.

“I almost hesitate to ask just what you would consider ‘fun’.”

REACTION MEME: Bruised and Broken Version

Her fingers brushed against the bruises around her neck–bruises that clearly came from fingers. Damn, she thought she covered them. “Oh, these? Just an—occupational hazard. Nothing you need to fret over, Harv.” But even her trademark smirk felt forced.

Sighing, her hands fell to wrap around the glass in front of her. She knew that answer wasn’t an acceptable one. Fingers drummed against glass as she chose her words carefully. “Nobody. Just some—punk. I was throwing him out and he that made him—upset.”

“In his defense, I started it. In my defense, I also finished it. So-you have nothing to worry about.”

‘’Finished it like this guy is pieces in the river? Or finished it like I still track him down and beat his ass?’’ Harvey asked, he was furious, seeing marks on a Lady like that. Where the hell were all her muscle men when this jerk off was getting fresh.

Image

‘’Your boys need a talkin’ too, he shouldn’t have got close enough to lay a hand on you.’’ Harvey said, lookin’ around and then back to the marks on her neck. Fuck it made his blood freakin’ boil. There were only a few times it was acceptable to hurt a woman; if she hit you first, or she was coming at you and you had to defend yourself.

“You don’t want to know the answer to that. Plausible deniability is your friend, detective.” Her lips pressed into a thin line at the memory--at the man beneath her heel, pleading for forgiveness.

Deirdre was many things---forgiving was not one of them.

“Leave them be.” She was tempted to wave Harvey off, but simply sat as he investigated the bruises. There were others--across her knuckles, her shoulders--but she didn’t want to worry him more. “I handled the situation. Besides, they had more important things to worry about.”

He was too busy staring, no not staring, looking. He was looking and thinking and his mind had gone to places that he was trying to pull it back from. He coughed, took a swig of his drink and shook his head again.
‘’Y’see right through me sugar bun.’’ Harvey replied to her earlier statement of only me, lips curving up into that wolfish grin that was all to familiar to the many ladies he encountered. ‘’Y’know what, I might take you up on that offer, sooner than you think.’’ Harvey added.
‘’Course, this is Gotham an’ one bad guy gettin’ killed ain’t news, but hey, apparently it’s still my job to track down scumbags killin’ scumbags.’’ He shrugged. ‘’Please.’’ Harvey replied. ‘’Y’could have a pretty with it too, but y’seem to have stolen all the pretty in the room.’’ Rugged, now that did make him smile.
‘’I’d be really grateful for that darlin’ an’ hey, if I can solve this thing early enough, I can come in for that drink.’’ He laughed slightly through his nose, quiet and suggestive. Winking at her just for effect, hey even if he wasn’t going to get lucky he enjoyed the chase as much as the catch.

“It’s a gift, what can I say? Womanly intuition. But hey, when you want that drink-” She moved to fill her glass, shooting the detective a playful grin. “-you know just where to find me, Harv.”

Deirdre toyed with the glass in her hand, spinning it, hearing ice clink against glass. “That’s why I stick to running a bar--far more free time.” She reclined back in her seat, tapping a finger against the glass. Her smirk grew at his compliment. “Flatterer. It might get you somewhere.”

Her chin dipped in a nod, the redhead waving over her assistant manager-he stopped just long enough to spare the detective a fleeting glance. “Can you get me the security footage from this past Friday? We’re looking for our good friend Frank? Also talk to Jack, see if she knows anything.” Gideon sighed before nodding.

“I’ll see what I can dig up.”

“Thank you.” Once Gideon left, she turned her attention back to Harvey. “So, who do you think did it? City like this? You must have several suspects.”
