Something is not right with you. It’s been 20 minutes into dinner at Jackson’s place and you haven’t spoken anything longer than a sentence. Your phone is constantly lighting up but you pay it no attention, even when there is an accumulation of 20 messages seen on your lockscreen.

Yeah. Something definitely isn’t right.

Jaebeom frowns, watching your eyes avoid direct contact with him, darting across the room to look at anything else. You start to bite your nails, a habit that he knows that you crawl back to when something is eating away at you. But for some reason, you haven’t shared what it was. Your hands make their way to your sweater, fiddling with the hem anxiously. Jackson leans forward to grab his glass on the coffee table, taking a sip of his beer before settling back on the couch.

The first thing you saw was a skull staring at you. Bony hands shook you awake, pulled you to your knees and held your hands together.

It was a hazy place, so it was hard to see clearly. The floor was covered in slime and gore, whispers of pain echoing in your ears.

Hands began to form from the slime, reaching out towards you, grabbing you. Their touch was painfully cold, making goosebumps crawl over your skin and a scream rip itself from your throat.

Baekhyun knew Evie was right. He knew Evie was right and he knew Drew was right, too. He knew that he was in the wrong here. But he couldn’t resist the urge to be petty. He had been raging with jealousy and anger tonight. This wasn’t like him. Usually he was the life of the party. He was like an energizer bunny, fully charged and ready to go.

Now, to everyone, he was an asshole. He wasn’t sure if Sehun had picked up on his negative vibe but he didn’t want to find out. Evie said, “Apologize. NOW.” He grit his teeth together and swallowed, trying his hardest to push down whatever negative feelings he had and whatever negative words he wanted to say. 

Evie walked away, in the hopes that he’d do the right thing. Baekhyun wasn’t this kind of person and she knew that. He’d fallen a little too hard under the influence. Damn that sweet punch that tasted of oranges and strawberries. Damn that drink for making him like this. Damn that drink for getting the better of him and preventing him from being a decent human being. He’d lost all sense of rationality and empathy.

He found himself in the kitchen alone for a moment. He watched the people around him. They were laughing, joking, drinking, and having a much better night than he was. His legs were starting to feel like jello; he was becoming more and more aware of how drunk he was, so he figured the best way to go about the rest of the night was to keep moving and to go do what he was dreading. 

He walked back toward his friends and came in full view of you and Sehun. He wanted to apologize to you but he didn’t want to apologize to Sehun. As much as he didn’t want to apologize to him, he didn’t need to make a bigger ass out of himself than he already had. He wondered what everyone thought. What words crossed their minds?
