Deadly dreams by gigi .
I woke up to the sound of scratching on the walls. my tiny hands grabbed my blanket and my stuffed as though they would save me.
"Hello"? My voice echoed.
I scanned the room from my bed, trying to see what made the sound. Out the corner of my eye, I saw something move.
I quickly turned my head to see what moved, but there was nothing. My heart pounded in my chest.
Thump-thump-thump. I head the scratching again, but this time ,it was closer.
I grabbed my stuffed animal and ran as fast as I could. My foot caught a roll in the carpet and I flew forward, losing my one comfort. I stood up frantically searched for the light switch, but I couldn't find it.
I started to hyperventilate. I could feel my chest pounding-like an overworked machine .
I froze.
My breath caught in my chest. A Chill ran down my back, rasing every hair with it.
Slowly, my head turned , And I saw it.
A rotted corpse of a woman, skin and bone all visible at once perched in front of me. Her inside's were falling out through the holes in her moth-eaten gown. Her back scraped the ceiling and her head hung forward. Her eyes pale and ghostly, stared through my soul. Her smile churned my stomach, and I had to hold back the sick.
I fell backwards , crawling on my hands and feet, ,head turned to avoid meeting her deathly stare.
She began to come towards me, smiling her horrid smile. "No! No! Stay away! Don't come near me please"! I said with my voice trembling. The woman crept closer and closer as I prayed for her to go away.
I cried out , screaming for my mother, screaming for the woman to go away, screaming for some semblance of relief from the horror in front of me.
She came closer, and I saw in her eyes the egregious satisfaction she derived from my fear.
I scrambled back to my room, running as fast as I could. I bolted into my bed and hid under my blanket, cowering in fear at the monster that followed. The only sound I could hear was the panting of my breath. Cold leached under my covers, and time stopped. A long, withered finger began peeled the covers from over me.
I opened my eyes and her face was inches from mine. Her rotten smell filled my lungs, but I remained frozen in place out of sheer terror. Her mouth unhinged and lunged towards my face. Racing towards the back of her throat. I screamed.
......
I sat bolt upright in bed, a cold sweat down my back. Daylight peeked through the window. I slid my feet out from under the covers, sliding my feet Into my fuzzy slippers. I grabbed my bunny and headed down stairs. I walked out the door, into the yard, down the street. I walked to the edge of the farm. To the little graveyard. I walked up to the fence and stared at the headstones. Old and new alike. They sat there together, generations of the family Dead and gone. I walked to the newest one and ran my hand along the newly grown grass." Was it all a dream?". I asked myself tentatively. Surely it had to be, no one could come back from the dead. I sat my stuffed animal down on the grave. I walked away, and stared back , and saw my mother. "Bunny," I said to my toy, " make sure that evil bitch stays dead ".
