Dragon Age Inquisition Hell. I Am In It.

@daihell / daihell.tumblr.com

Icon by the incredibly talented @sloth-draws! Thank you so much!!
This'll mostly be fics about my Inquisitor Elden Trevelyan and Dorian because they are just way too cute. Constructive criticism always welcome as well as messages, IMs, etc.
terfs and ace exclusionists not welcome.
I am also working on recording all of Dorian's random dialog and comments throughout Inquisition. More information on the Ambient Dialog Project can be found here.

✨Self-Rec Tag Game ✨

I was tagged by @shivunin to do this very fun and sweet game idea, thank yoooouuu so much ;w;

Rules: Share five of your own fanworks (fic, art, etc.). Then, tag five more people to share the things they've made.

  1. Something you absolutely adore

One of the first things I wrote for any of my characters and, while some timeline details don't necessarily match Somhairle and Dorian's canon anymore, it still has a big place in my heart.

2. Something that was challenging to create

This piece taking place after The Last Straw, where Taliesin comforts Sebastian as they sail away from Kirkwall for the last time. It's longer and more emotional than I usually write, but I'm very happy with how it turned out in the end.

3. Something that makes you laugh/smile

A collection of original romance banter for Sebastian and Taliesin. I wanted more involving their friends that was also kinder to Sebastian.

4. Something that surprised you

This little thing I wrote very quickly one day when I was having feelings about Somhairle and Solas meeting during Trespasser and have no idea how so many people found it outside of its tags, but I'm glad it was loved ;w;

5. Something you want other people to see

Do you like Dragon Age horror based on an obscure browser tie-in browser game that can no longer be accessed? Read about Antonin, my de Serault who came back from the dead and now navigates Thedas in a space between life and death while being constantly hunted by an Andrastian cult's vengeful goddess!

If Dragon Age II is about being doomed by the narrative, Dragon Age: Inquisition is about being devoured by the narrative. From the very beginning the Inquisitor is slowly being devoured by their mark. Being devoured by this organization they did not ask to join and are not allowed to leave. Begin devoured by the titles they can't reject and the story that swells around them, out of their control. Uncovering the tragic story of the first Inquisitor who tried to appease the same monster, and was devoured by it anyway--his nation, his culture, his very name and identity. And then watching the Inquisition, grown too large to be safe, begin to devour itself while Orlais watches it hungrily and Ferelden (remembering what it means to be devoured) asks how to put down the beast before it eats them all. The Inquisitor now fighting physically not to be devoured, trying to free themselves from the monster's teeth without losing more than an arm. Do they succeed?

so, varric won the last poll by something of a landside, unsurprisingly. so now i wanna see how things go if the varric-mancers went with their second choice

(note: this is only about the main games, the awakening romance poll was done already [yes, nathaniel won])

just for the record, if i see any shit in the tags about viv being a bad choice, you're getting ur ass blocked

How to have Sebastian be in a sexual relationship with your Hawke while still respecting his celibacy, step one: you can't

Firstly, I apologize for being so absent and so quiet for so long. I hope to get back to work on my dolls in January but still have such a large backlog that I can't yet open the commissions waiting list.

In experimenting with how I can craft around my preschooler (she's a what now? That still feels so weird) I was able to make a limited quantity of Dragon Age Inquisition felt ornaments.

During Trespasser, while recovering, Somhairle spends some time reflecting. He’s no stranger to staying in bed, waiting out pain, but this time he has no distractions. This time, unfortunately, he’s left with nothing to do but think. About the years before and the years to come. About the scorned followers, the lost allies, and being left with only his closest friends.

Is change for the better truly better when forced upon people who don’t want it? If even Dorian, his husband, hesitated to trust him with the influence he held. What influence mattered if he pushed Dorian away?

When he limps into the Exalted Council, they aren’t expecting him. He isn’t supposed to be out of bed without assistance, much less stumbling across the palace grounds. Divine Victoria, Vivienne, watches him with a mixture of concern and intrigue. Dorian, he’s certain, is somewhere in the pews, wringing his hands to keep from jumping after him.

Somhairle disbands the Inquisition. All things considered, it doesn’t seem to matter anymore.

it’s always “what were you doing there” and “how did you get here” and “how did you know about Skyhold” and “why are you calling me mortal” and “what do you mean you’ve been to court before” and “are you the Dread Wolf, Solas” and never how was the Fade was the Fade fun
