i lay in the bath ears submerged under the water and i listen to myself breathe it sounds different

as i breathe in and out my lungs full, empty, full, empty my body rises and falls

i realize i haven't felt this alive this real this skin and bone in so long

i say this, all of this, to myself out loud with my ears, under the water i sound funny my own voice, unfamiliar i can hear my breath giving and taking with each word and i feel real i feel human i feel natural alone, naked, soaked and floating
