I learned in a Latin Studies class (with a chill white dude professor) that when the Europeans first saw Aztec cities they were stunned by the grid. The Aztecs had city planning and that there was no rational lay out to European cities at the time. No organization.

When the Spanish first arrived in Tenochtitlan (now downtown mexico city) they thought they were dreaming. They had arrived from incredibly unsanitary medieval Europe to a city five times the size of that century’s london with a working sewage system, artificial “floating gardens” (chinampas), a grid system, and aqueducts providing fresh water. Which wasn’t even for drinking! Water from the aqueducts was used for washing and bathing- they preferred using nearby mountain springs for drinking. Hygiene was a huge part if their culture, most people bathed twice a day while the king bathed at least four times a day. Located on an island in the middle of a lake, they used advanced causeways to allow access to the mainland that could be cut off to let canoes through or to defend the city. The Spanish saw their buildings and towers and thought they were rising out of the water. The city was one of the most advanced societies at the time.

Anyone who thinks that Native Americans were the savages instead of the filthy, disease ridden colonizers who appeared on their land is a damn fool.

They’ve also recently discovered a lost Native American city in Kansas called Etzanoa It rivals the size of Cahokia, which was very large as well.

I just heard this woman say “you procrastinate because you are afraid of rejection. It’s a defense mechanism, you are trying to protect yourself without even trying.” and I think I just realized what was wrong with me.

Yep, this is a very, very common reason for procrastinating.  It’s also why procrastination, even though it’s often associated with laziness, is a fairly common trait in a lot of people with anxiety and perfectionism issues.

Omg, that kinda hit home. There are so many things I'd like to do, but I can't decide what to do first, cause I want it all at the same time. But if I do too much, I can never be truly good at something. So in the end I spend all the time thinking and not doing anything at all 🙃

AND LASTLY. My final post for this image: a wallpaper! (I’m sorry I can’t fit everyone in it’s too big!) I threw the art up yesterday without much of an explanation aside from ‘it’s done!’ HUZZAH.

But really, I meant: It’s done: Thank you all so much for the support. This was a labour of love. It really, really was. But it felt warranted! I don’t do this kind of art unless I love something deep down in my little black heart. This is my tribute to the series and to Sarah and to @blackbeak and everyone who has ever thanked me for introducing them to something they’ve gotten enjoyment out of. Every kind word and every bit of encouragement. Thank you, it’s for myself and it’s for you.

It only felt fitting to draw something that literally required me to give up a little of my own life force to get done *eyebrow waggle* and to mark the end of the series (or the end of this particular arc) in the only way I know how.

(And this isn’t the end of my Thorns and Roses art, per say. But I have done a lot - and I’m looking forward to working on my own things again! I have something else up my sleeve but it won’t be for a couple of months) <3

Why I hope Elriel is just a friendship, nothing more:

As Mor said- Azriel deserves better.

He’s pined after a female he can never have for five hundred years. When he finds out, it’ll rip his heart out.

Azriel deserves more than another male’s Mate. Even if it turns out Elain and Lucien aren’t perfect for each other- even if it’s one of those failed chances of fate. He’s loved too quietly and too fiercely for too long. His life has been too wretched to not have the perfect happily-ever-after.

He deserves a Mate of his own, not the Mate of another. He deserves what Rhys found with Feyre, what Cassian will find with Nesta, and what Amren might have found with Varian.

He. Deserves. More.

If I recall correctly sjm said there can be more than one mate for someone. For instance Rowan and aelin. So I’m hoping that elriel could also be mates and I can be so happyyyyy

But Rowan had only one "real" mate (Aelin). The rest was manipulation from Maeve and not an actual natural mate bond. And I think to have a second mate, the first one has to be dead.

ACOWAR SPOILER #3

I felt that Feyres and Rhys's chemistry sufferd from the big maincast. There was too much going on and their interactions came too short. I loved them in the first 2 books, but here their relationship felt kinda "shallow" and tame.

ACOWAR SPOILER #2

I don't like Elain. I can't even explain why XD She is so boring. Whenever she appeared I wanted to roll my eyes or slap her. I want her to accept Lucien as her mate and move away with him, so she won't take part in the story anymore. Nesta is great and can stay and be happy with Cassian (I hope). I am undecided on Mor, I think she needs some time "off", get her shit together, find a nice girl a.s.o... In general this Book felt too "crowded" for me. I could do with less main characters and hope Sarah J. Maas will reduce the maincast in the next book.
