It is a blunt instrument that he uses to get what he wants, namely whacking his stupid brother over the head. he really is just sat on the throne like damn isn’t it great that I do whatever I want and no one can stop me.

Sure. So viserys dies. The green council led by otto hightower has a plan: instead of alerting his chosen heir Rhaenyra who is over on dragonstone that this has happened so that she can take her place as king, they’re just going to crown Aegon as king instead. But they have a problem: no one knows where aegon, frequent partier and definite runner drunk, actually is. The kingsguard can’t find him, Criston and Aemond can’t find him, they’re literally cooked because he appears to just be gone. Because he is, Mysaria found out the king was dead from her spies in the castle, found Aegon immediately, and has him in custody to use as leverage. She agrees to give Otto custody of Aegon if and only if he promises to improve conditions in Flea Bottom especially for the children and also remembers that it was Mysaria and by extension the people who put Aegon on the throne. Aegon gets pulled out of his hiding spot and made to be the king. Larys Strong, head spymaster for the Greens, identifies Mysaria and the spies she has in the castle as a threat and finds her house and has it burnt to the ground.
