I was just thinking
about the "J" in Anthony J. Crowley. Crowley doesn't seem to want to tell Aziraphale what the J stands for, for some reason. And in the first episode of season 2 when they meet as angels, he never mentions his name. I believe that the J stands for his angel-name he had before falling. The reason he still has that J in his name could be that he deep down somewhere actually misses the one he used to be. He just feels so angry at God for not being listened to or respected that he can't go back (when Aziraphale gives him the offer to become an angel again).
And what angel do I think he was? I think he was powerful - he got to help create the universe and seemed to think that there would be no problem for him speaking directly to God. Probably he was an archangel. In the first episode of season 2 we see how he's all thrilled "creating" the universe and seems to have huge visions and hopes for it and humanity in the future. Who is the angel of dreams and visions? The archangel Jeremiel.
Crowley does also propose that he and Aziraphale run away together to Alpha Centauri, he has a plan and a vision for their future together. And his hopes are high when when he first mentions his feelings for Aziraphale, talking about running away together.
And I think that could be another reason (more than the obvious ones) that Crowley feel so angered about Aziraphale's choice. He's afraid that Aziraphale will meet the same faith as he did as archangel, since Aziraphale most likely will have a lot of unwanted opinons.
Just putting this out there. It makes sense, right? Could maybe be a thing for a season 3.
