- Google universities/colleges near you.
- If you can't get out to more than one, look up which one has the highest tuition.
- Look-up when the graduation date is
- Drive neighborhoods near the university the week before graduation
So much stuff gets left out on the curb. Wealthy college students tend to prioritize convenience over money, so instead of carefully reselling their perfectly good stuff, they frequently give it away or put it out with the trash because that's easier than moving, reselling, or donating. Take advantage of this.
I furnished pretty much my entire apartment from college giveaways and yardsales.
What I got for free:
- Mattress and box springs
- 2 10 ft area rugs
- The massive 9-drawer chest (that has a label on the back that it was custom-made and shipped across the country) that my TV sits on.
- Two 13 x 2 ft raised garden beds
- My desk - just sanded it down and refinished it.
- Three short stools
- An organizer rack
- Watering can
- Tommy Bahama outdoor cooler (retails for $350)
- Chairs
- Shelves
What I got for cheap:
- Two futons for $50
- Custom coffee table with storage for $25
- Three tall stools for $30
Seeing all the tags where people are warning that picking stuff up OFF the curb is illegal in their area has the same vibes as the oranges in Grapes of Wrath, and I hope all your city councilmen get eaten by the live furniture from Monty Python.
#LITERALLLLLY#look when i was a little kid we lived a few blocks from university of maryland#and when spring rolled around all the international/long distance/rich kids would leave all their shit in the dumpsters or behind the dorms#and my mom and our neighbor would go dumpster diving and then have a big yard sale with all their shit#made hundreds of dollars off of dumpster appliances and and cookware and clothes and furniture#and yeah it's illegal that's why they had 5 year old me stand outside the dumpster and holler if i saw someone coming 😂#it was a flawless system tbh

But here he is, standing fully healed in their home in front of a Carlos he hasn’t seen since they first began — caught between what he wishes he could ask for and what he thinks he’s allowed to have. Not lost. Torn. TK moves until their toe to toe and takes his face into both hands, holding his eyes until Carlos can’t resist the closeness without contact and curls his fingers around his hips. “That’s easy, baby,” TK says, trying to tug him out of the trap of whatever his brain has told him he’s supposed to do. “You tell me what you want.”

Today is Armenian genocide remembrance day. On april 24, 1915 started mass deportations of hundreds of Armenian intelectuals and community leaders, who were (most of the time) eventually killed. Armenian women and children were systematically r//ed and forcibly converted into islam. There were more than 2 milion Armenians in ottoman empire prior to ww1, 1,5 milion of them were viciously killed. Three millennia of Armenian civilaziation in eastern Anatolis was fully destroyed. Turkey today refuses to acknowledge genocides of christian minorities in early 20th century.
Do you know that mass ethnic cleansing of Armenians in ottoman empire inspired Lemkin to coin the term 'genocide'?
Last year in september azerbaijan allied with turkey initiated a war against Armenia. More that 5000 Armenians were murdered, thousands of Armenia families had to live their ancestrial land to not get murdered. There are hundreds of vids on internet where armenian p.o.w.s are tortured. Recently azerbaijan opened a "museum" displayind dead or dying Armenians and kids were allowed to visit it.
