Let's go rewatch that!

Please watch Normies react to SKAM!! They might have to stop due to few watched and likes. They're big reactors and really love the show, but can't defend spending all this time on it unless they see more commitment and engagement on their SKAM content. They might have to stop before they reach season 3. And I NEED to see them cringe at Vildus!
Canon is what is considered an authoritative source - a TV show, a novel, a film etc. A canonical fact is something that without doubt occurs in the source material, but often canon is interpreted in a variety of ways.
Closed canon is a work where no more material is added, open canon is a work yet unfinished.
Fanon is an element, often a character trait, with little or no basis in canon that gets so widely spread in fandom that it ends up as a widely accepted part of the source material for fanworks. Sometimes fanon even becomes canon, when canon is still open and fanon elements eventually appear in the authoritative source.
But what do we call it when the creator of the source material, of a closed canon itself, makes statements about backstory or character traits that were not included in the source material?
I would argue that it’s not canon, since in my opinion a closed canon is a fixed measure of original source material, but you may disagree. However, if you buy that premise (if only for the time it takes you to read this post), you will probably agree that there is no precise, established term for additional material from the creator.
Even if you disagree with me you may want a specific label for that material nonetheless, so.
I propose that we adopt this term:
Joanon (noun) - additional source material added to a closed canon by the creator(s).
Origin: the creator of Harry Potter, Joanne (JK) Rowling, became infamous for adding to and changing closed canon material. For instance, she stated in a Pottermore exclusive that wizards didn’t have toilets until the 18th century. Before that they would go wherever they were and use magic to clean up.
Example: “One of Julie Andem’s joanons, that Isak and Even move to Trondheim after graduation, has taken root in the SKAM fandom”
i agree with what this is, but i thought it was known as “word of god.” i learned about it from this tumblr post. the distinction was very helpful for me when it came to understanding the relationship between the script books and canon.
Word of god is a term in use, yeah, but personally I don’t think it’s precise enough - also I really really would like fandoms to take a dig at JKR for her shameless changing and re-opening of canon. Also it almost rhymed with canon and fanon. I know this will be a case of “stop trying to make joanon happen” though!
I think the difference is that “word of God” (which also came to mind immediately for me!) can be anything the creators say about canon. And that CAN be “what happened next” or “what happened off screen” but it can also be “this scene meant that”.
To use examples:
“JKR announces Dumbledore has always been gay” is word of God; she tells us how we’re supposed to read the actual canon, even though the text itself is not explicit on this.
“JKR announces wizards pooped their pants until the 18th century” is a joanon, as it refers to something completely outside of the existing canon.
Normies watching Skam s1 e6 and Jonas texting Eva across the school yard telling her to smile:
Heads up. Season 2 of Semester is out.
The NRK series starring Herman Tømmeraas aka Penetrator Chris.
Normies react to skam and names the male characters in a way every Skam-fan should recognise....
" eyebrows "
" Slo mo - boy "
"Cockenblocken"
"Lip-licker"
It really irks me when someone says or does something woke but ends it by saying stuff like “it’s 2019!”
I mean… Good on you for enjoying kissing the same sex, or supporting your female co-workers right to nurse while on the clock, or telling off your friends for using slurs, or applauding your trans neighboor. But the year we live in has got nothing to do with anything. It was always the right thing to do.
I'm just waiting for everyone to get over their ranting about disapointing remakes and start watching reaction videos again.
I saw you Pod! Strutting about in the background. One lady on each arm.... I thought your secret always was a joke. That Tyrion paid them and made up the whole praising part... but you obviously got game.
Gendry..... She always said she wasn't a lady. If you truly loved her you would know this about her. Ditch Storm's End, get two horses, a couple of chickens and hit the road with her. That's how you make her happy!
i liked your post on matteo taking his time to process things, so i'd love to know what your thoughts are on david being outed?
hhhhhhhhh well from what i’ve seen in the tag, i disagree with like 90% of youse and was gonna hold my thoughts till later… but since you asked… yeah i reckon its good writing actually.
(beware under the cut, this is long)
I have not watched druck yet, but I feel like I have due to the gifs and text posts on my dash. I follow the discourse from a distanse and did not mean to get involved. But this deserves more attention. Reblogging.
So normiesreact reacted to Skam! OG season 1 episode 1 (for money on patreon, but still)! That’s my fav reactor group. Please every SKAM stan hit them up and make them watch the rest……
They are doing it! Once a week! On episode 3 now - the first bus meeting.
Sometimes I think about the fact that the clip where Sana gained access to Nooras email password was posted at 13:37. As in 1337. As in LEET.
Skam Austin episode 3.
The sprinklers in the slow mo scene.
That had such a Julie Andem wibe.
I laughed. Out loud.
So the minions magicians meme mashups are coming right?
So "everybody *incert what you want to do here* in Netherland" is the new go-to excuse.
Wanna steal food? Do as the netherlands.
Wanna be two hours late for work? Not turn in homework? Day drink? Sing in public? Sneak on the bus?
Sometimes I wonder what it must feel like to be Julie Andem. Like, how surreal it must be to see something you created with the very spesific target group "16 year old Norwegian girls" reach almost the entire world. Like, OG series first and then remakes in all of western Europe and the US.
The goal was to show the importance of owning your mistakes, of communicating with the people in your life, of trusting friends and loved ones, of being true to yourself, that you're not alone, that you're good enough just as you are and that all is love. And now this message is spread in so many languages, by so many different charachters, in totally different countries with varied cultures, in every parallell universe there is.
Just imagine being the brain that originated all of that.
