Optimism is an act of rebellion.
Optimism isn't foolishness, and it isn't sweeping problems under the rug. Optimism is saying yes, we see these problems, yes, we see these issues, but things will be okay, things will be alright, because we'll make them that way.
Optimism isn't saying that everything is alright right now and that we can just go on with the way things are or the way things were. Optimism is seeing real, valid issues, and saying that they'll be okay anyway because we know how strong and resilient we are.
Optimism is an act of rebellion in a world so consumed by fear and anxiety. Optimism is saying that you see the bad things, but you won't let them beat you, because you can't let them. Optimism is an act of rebellion because it's seeing what's wrong with the world and declaring that you will live long enough to see it get better, even if you have to fix the world with your own hands.
Optimism doesn't mean never being sad or hurt or scared because of the challenges you face, though. Optimism is a choice - a choice that sometimes, you can't make. Optimism is a challenge and something you have to work for, so don't feel bad if you aren't there quite yet.
Optimism is hard to achieve and hard to maintain, but it's worth it. Work towards being optimistic. You might not be there right now, and you might not be there for a while, but trust me, it's worth working to.
And if you've lost your optimism, know that it's not over yet. It'll be a fight to get it back, but I know you can do it. You're amazing, and I love you.
