I am so happy tor you that your second book is out!! I’m reading it right away! The excerpt shown on Amazon is already amazing. I was wondering, is Atticus Crow any AoT character, will he be a love interest for Aya, and will he be an antagonist? Also, are there any other aot-based characters we should know about in this book? Atticus is not based on anyone in the AoT verse - he is an original character of mine. All of the new characters introduced in TWP: Arrival are my own OGs - I hope you enjoy reading about them! Without giving away too much, I’ll say that Atticus will have a larger role to play later in the story, and there *may* be some love interest/ conflict with Aya... Stay tuned, as there will be more to come after TWP: Arrival 👀

Hi there! Keeping this short and sweet cause damn word limit! So here goes... Read FCIB, fell in love with you ;), cue rivamika withdrawal symptoms that come with finishing a masterpiece, stalks authors profile, sees TWP, regrets never got to read the original fic and now very curious about settings/characters. I undetstand cause of copyright you changed names but are the characters in the book the same as AOT eg personality. Was the original fanfic an au one and how different is it to the book?
Hi, nonnie! So sorry it took me ages to reply to this... I have not been checking my tumblr as frequently as I should.
Yes, the original was an AU fanfic, so I was able to keep the plot and world pretty much the same when I published TWP. The characters that were not my originals have been tweaked, of course, but my OCs were not changed at all. Hope that helps! :)

Yup, nonnie, it does! I am excited to say TWP P2 will not be the last of Marcus and Aya. Next book is already outlined :)

I am so happy to continue working on this story, and I have been editing/ updating it to get it ready to go. There are some cool new twists/ changes coming, and I am so excited to share them with you guys! It’s been a ton of fun so far, and I am enjoying the book-writing journey.

I absolutely adore enemies-to-lovers and antagonist x protagonist ships. Not the patriarchal fantasy where some dudebro harasses a girl until she’s suddenly into him but the epic, well-written, achingly slow burn ones where two equally powerful people with different worldviews clash and make each other question their beliefs. Where they have to look past their prejudices and loyalties because they connect with each other on a deeper level that they can’t fully explain. I love the story of empathy, of redemption, of equal growth for both characters. In my opinion, those are the most satisfying and compelling of romances that there are (when they are done well).

Sure! At the time of TWP, here are the ages of the main characters:
Marcus - 29, Aya - 25, Clio - 35, Zor - 20, Sloane - 19

So a few days ago my mother asked what books I wanted to get for Amazon Prime Day, and I said, "The Western Passage." And now it's here, in all its glory! Congratulations, really, for your publication. I can't wait to start reading this story that will no doubt be even better than your other amazing fan fictions. I know you had to change the original names, but since I never got to read TWP on Archive of Our Own, would you mind saying who all the characters are, just for clarification? Thanks!
Not at all, nonnie! Here’s a rough breakdown:
Marcus/ Levi; Aya/ Mikasa; Enwezor/ Jean; Sloane/ Ymir; Emmanuel/ Armin + Historia (kinda rewrote the characters in Ashland a bit when I converted the story); Maggie/ Petra; Savannah/ Sasha; Adam/ Connie
I think that’s more or less everyone. The others - Clio, Kai, Cody, Ed, etc. - were OCs.

Hi! Long time reader of your stories! I'm super happy you got published! I ordered TWP and finally got it and I have not been able to put it down. It's just as amazing as the first time I read it. (Also about to go leave a review because oh my god. I will be recommending this book to everyone.) I do have one question and I'm not sure if you've been asked this but will there be a third book? I know you split this Story into two books but in the past you had talked about a sequel to the fic

To answer your question: yes, there will be a third book. I had plans to write The Northern Alliance (the TWP sequel) while it was still in fanfic form, but got a bit sidetracked. Now, I’m reworking TWP 2 to better align with the continued story arc that I have in the works. So, if all goes to plan, there should be at least two more parts of the story. I’m pretty stoked with the idea of spending a bit more time in the TWP universe :)

I am in the midst of reworking some of Part 2 at the moment, and I haven’t set a date yet with my publisher for its release. Gotta see how sales of Part 1 do first, I suppose, since I’m a rookie in this game…right now I’m neck deep in promo stuff for Part 1. (So go on and tell all your friends about it! 😂 Lol I’m kidding but not really - every rec helps!)
Anyway, I will definitely post an update when I have more info about Part 2/ any news about the sequel. In the meantime, thanks a ton for the support! ❤️
OMG Congratulations! I’m so happy TWP is published. I’m relatively new to the RivaMika fandom, but it was your fan fictions that made me a huge shipper. Unfortunately, I never got to read your original TWP fanfic on Archive of Our Own, and I don’t think I can buy your book either. Is there any possibility that you will repost the original fanfic, or are there copyright issues? Thank you, and kudos!
Thank you! It’s been exciting but kind of stressful - trying to boost sales and get online reviews and generate buzz is a bit overwhelming…but it is a journey and I’m taking it one day at a time :)
Because The Western Passage is now a published book, there would be copyright issues if I tried to repost the fanfic version, so unfortunately, this means I cannot post it.
I’m happy that my stories helped make you a shipper! :D Rivamika is such a great ship and the fandom is so talented. Even though you can’t read TWP in its fanfic form, I do have three other stories on AO3 (if you haven’t already read them), and there are some great stories by other writers too. Check out @die-forellex and @morealeewright - they’ve put out some great stuff.
