"WE PRESENT TO YOU, THE OFFICIAL VICTORS OF THE 106TH DÉCÈS MATCH!"

Jihoon couldn't believe it. How dare they present him and the dead bodies of their teammates in front of countless people. They were evil. As If it wasn't enough that they had to go through the match.

The two were escorted inside the Presidential Palace where they were treated and cleaned up, dressed in the finest clothes in preparation for the awarding ceremony, to be followed by the press conference.

As the two were being prepared, Seungkwan couldn't help but feel even more anxious. "Hyung, I don't think I can keep up with this anymore. I might break any moment now. I can't break. This is not the time to break."

"Hey hey hey, you've done well. And you're continuing to do well. You can do it okay? At least until after the conference."

A knock sounded through the door. It was time for the awarding ceremony.

"Once more, the official victors of the 106th Décès Match! Students of Académie Céleste!"

More cheers. But the cheers somehow reminded the two of the screams from the Arena.

The two held hands and with tears in their eyes, they raised their hands to cheer about their victory. President Hawthorne approached the two, placing golden wreaths atop of their heads. "You two have done well." He says as the two bowed in front of the President.

They were presented once more, and now it was time for the part they dreaded the most. The Press conference.

Speeches were given. And now it was time for questions.

"Why didn't you help your leader the moment you knew that he was in trouble?"

Woozi's breath hitched, but he answered nonetheless. "He told me not to. He didn't want to lose any more of his members. I was just following orders."

"This question is for Seungkwan. Do you think that if you would've created more illusions, it would've helped your leader more?"

Woozi squeezed Seungkwan's shoulder comfortingly. "Well. Maybe. Maybe not, we never really know. It may have, but it also may have made things worse."

"Do you think you two are really deserving to be the winners?"

"We will not answer that question."

"What thoughts did you keep inside your head so you could continue with the match?"

Woozi looked at the reporter and looked straight into the camera that was broadcasting everything live. "That nothing was real and everything will be alright in the end."

Everyone erupted into laughter at his statement. "What do you mean with that?" The reporter questioned.

"This is what we mean by that."

A shattering was heard everywhere.

The Illusion was broken.

And right in front of them, standing in all their glory, all 13 tributes appeared.

Alive.

"We know about the Match officials tampering with the controls." Hoshi revealed.

Seungcheol gazed darkly at the audience. "And we know how we were sent for their enjoyment. We were sent not to honour the heroes before us, but to serve as entertainment."

Everyone held their breath, waiting for the last leader to leave his words.

"And we've come to end the empire that this government has built. You've all forced us unto this battlefield. And no mercy shall set foot onto this battlefield."

"Only our wrath."

"Arena Area will be compromised. Tributes that are not in the Valid arena area will be terminated. Red markers on the edge of the valid area will be shown to guide the tributes safely."

The robotic voice and the red markers were enough to have the remaining tributes emerge from their hiding spots. The red markers surrounded almost the whole arena. Only the center of the arena was the valid area.

And what's troubling the tributes, are the screams and grunts coming from that area. Clearly there was a fight going on. But the tributes knew deep down, that they're being led to the center so they'll be engaged in combat. All of them. They were rushing the match. They wanted to end it so badly.

Hoshi and Dino exited the cave that they were currently staying at, walking towards the center of the arena, fear was evident in the two, but they decided to brush it off and face their inevitable fate.

Seungkwan who was staying with Woozi had stood up, guiding the injured smaller male with him towards the center. However, Woozi hesitated. "What about Joshua? He's not back yet-" Seungkwan sighed, "I'm sure Joshua heard the announcement as well. We'll see him at the center, don't worry okay?" The trickster reassured.

Well Seungkwan wasn't wrong.

The tributes met at the center, with an intense fight going on in front of them.

The two cursed men.

Not only were they met with the two fighting men, but they were also met by the dead bodies of Seokmin, Joshua, Minghao, and Wonwoo.

Dino let out a gasp at the sight of Minghao's body, eyes wide open, irises an intense shade of green, fingers still in his mouth. The leader gripped his teammates shoulder and let him bury his head in his chest.

In the center most part of the arena were the two men fighting, both of them enveloped in Jeonghan's thick black smoke. Seungcheol was grunting in pain but his sheer willpower was keeping him from fully succumbing to the smoke's effects.

Jeonghan, who had gained little immunity from the smoke in the past few years, didn't feel as worse as Seungcheol. Yet his other abilities were taking a toll on him.

The awful memories were coming back.

Seungcheol was doing the same thing Jeonghan's father had done to him all those years ago. He was making him use his own abilities against him.

Jeonghan knew that he'd experience it once more. And so he trained hard enough to come up with a solution. He had learned how to use his abilities on more than one person. And while he was using them on himself, he was using them on the other leader as well. And he felt it. Seungcheol was getting weaker with every passing second.

The remaining tributes couldn't do anything other than watch the legendary battle going on in front of them. All of them held their breath when Seungcheol fell on his knees.

Woozi and Seungkwan almost sighed in relief at the sight of Seungcheol crumbling in the hands of their own leader. Vernon however only felt fear. He knew Seungcheol would do anything just for his own sake. Vernon was aware of where his leader had come from, and he refuses to go back to where he used to be. Seungcheol wanted the glory and honor. He wanted it so bad.

The healer expected next thing that happened. It was indeed one of the things his leader would do.

As soon as Seungcheol knew he'd lose to Jeonghan, he came up with a plan. Healers were meant to heal others he thought... So why not have them heal him right now? Infiltrating the minds of both Vernon and Hoshi, he forced them to heal them with the best of their abilities. And slowly he stood, his body healing, his strength coming back, and his energy doubling.

"Hoshi hyung!" The youngest of all the tributes panicked. His hyung was in trouble. But he knew he couldn't do anything. The young boy was sobbing. He can't lose his Hoshi hyung now, or not ever. He was nothing without him. All he did was protect and defend the young oracle. But now he was in trouble yet he felt his hands were tied. He knew he didn't have any means of helping him. Nothing could break the young man more.

Vernon... He was smiling sadly at how his leader, whom he considered as a brother, used him one last time. Tears fell down on his cheeks as his eyes turned to a ghostly white. A common sign of exceeding the power limit.

"I forgive you hyung." The Healer whispered.

Woozi couldn't hold back anymore. He had to do something.

With shaking hands, he summoned fire in his hands, sending balls of fire towards the opposing leader's direction.

Jeonghan's loud voice could be heard. "NO! STOP IT JIHOON! MESS WITH HIM AND HE'LL KILL YOU TOO! I CAN'T LOSE ANYONE ELSE PLEASE!" The leader yelled, voice filled with desperation as he turned to look at them. He glanced at Seungkwan, giving him a knowing look.

Then, the two healers dropped down dead on the ground. Seungcheol chuckled, ignoring the broken cries of the youngest tribute, and ignoring the body of his own teammate. He was now at his peak.

Jeonghan was strong, but it doesn't mean he wasn't tired.

Seungcheol pushed himself to his limit, using his abilities with the intent to kill. And at the exact moment, Seungkwan encased all of them in his illusion. An illusion of Jeonghan dropping dead in front of Seungcheol as he laughed in satisfaction.

Jeonghan hurriedly conversed with his members, it was only a matter of time before Seungcheol would sense an illusion around him.

"I have a plan. But I need you both to trust me. Can you both do that?" Jeonghan asked in a hushed whisper. "Hyung we do but what exactly are you planning?" The trickster asked worriedly.

"When I give seungkwan the signal, you're gonna break the illusion. And I'll surprise Seungcheol, and when I catch him off guard, I'll feed off most of his life force, which will hopefully help me regain a bit more strength. But Woozi, I need you to finish him off for me. I can't do it myself. Not with my condition. You're the strongest at the moment. Can you do that for me?"

"I'll do anything hyung. If it means we get to come home. I'll do it."

Jeonghan nodded. And with one last look at his members he yelled.

"Now!"

Seungkwan broke the illusion and Jeonghan charged at Seungcheol.

"Wait! How are you alive?! I killed you-" He was cut off with Jeonghan's scream trapping the both of them in the smoke, feeding off of his life force.

Jeonghan knew that his actions would use up more of his energy than what he'll get. And he accepted it.

He had to die to take away most of Seungcheol's life force.

And so he did.

Woozi could make out Seungcheol's figure dropping weakly to the ground, he summoned fire and lightning. And he shot it at him. Lightning up the area, making it visible through the smoke how he died from one lethal blow.

The smoke cleared up, but they were not met with one deceased leader. They were met with two.

Woozi and Seungkwan broke into sobs at the sight of their leader, a soft smile plastered on his face as a single tear fell from the leader's eye.

The two would've mourned and wailed at the fate of their leader, but the countdown cut the both of them off.

"5 minutes til Arena's self destruction."

The two exchanged a look and hurriedly picked up the bodies of their fallen teammates, not wanting to leave them behind before they locked in their scores in the transportation cubicle.

Two minutes before the scheduled self destruction of the arena, they met the broken eyes of the last surviving tribute apart from them.

'Lee Chan' 'Deo Academy' 'Oracle'

"Come with us. I can disguise you as one of our tributes." The trickster whispered.

The oracle shook his head.

"No, you go on. I want to stay with Hoshi hyung."

"But your Hoshi hyung wouldn't want you to die here."

"20 seconds til self destruction"

"Seungkwan." Woozi tapped his shoulder, "Leave him be. We have to go."

Seungkwan tried not to cry even more as he turned his back away from the arena, Woozi closing the doors and enclosing them safely inside the cubicle as they were transported outside the Arena, ending up in the center plaza where people were waiting for them.

Loud cheers, trumpets blaring, and cameras flashing. Everyone were pleased for the traumatized men.

"I PRESENT TO YOU, THE VICTORS OF THE DÉCÈS MATCH!"

13 tributes. No guaranteed number of winners.

No more practices or do overs. This is it.

This is the beginning of the Décès Match.

The first batch of tributes were revealed to the whole nation. The reigning champion. Académie céleste, in other words, Yoon Jeonghan's team.

Trumpets were blaring. Camera's were flashing. Cheers could be heard everywhere. People were excited for this year's match. Almost everyone was watching the match. It would be the first ever match where all four of the cursed abilities would be present. Three of which Jeonghan had.

To say that the tributes were nervous was an understatement. Almost all of the five tributes were being affected by pressure and worry. Jihoon was pacing back and forth the waiting area, Joshua was muttering words to himself, Seungkwan was bouncing his leg up and down, and Seokmin was already crying while talking to someone on the phone. However Jeonghan... He seemed the most calm out of all the tributes but if one looked closely, they would see the leader's eyes constantly flashing from red and black as his fingers twitched, small amounts of smoke appearing and disappearing.

It was not until it was announced that the tributes would be transported in five minutes that Jeonghan snapped out of his little moment and walked towards his members.

"Gather around everyone. I have a few words to say to all of you."

Everyone did as the leader said, gathering around and linking arms with each other. "I want you all to remember that the first thing we have to do is find each other okay? We need to stay alive and find each other. That's our best straight to keep everyone alive", The leader reminded. "And please keep in mind that no matter what happens out there, I am proud of you. You've all come such a long way to be as amazing as you all are right now. I'm sure everyone will do great. And... You all mean a lot to me. Let's all survive yeah?" His members nodded and hugged each other tightly, "We can do this! We've trained hard for this!" Jihoon exclaimed, trying to hype up the others, the healer smiled "We'll win. We have the best team ever."

"Yes we do. They should be nervous." Seungkwan joked. The team was in good spirits, ready for the game when a staff member approached the team, informing them that they would be transported to the arena now.

One by one the tributes were taken to random safe places in the arena where they would wait.

10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1.

The buzzer goes off.

The match has officially begun.

Each of Jeonghan's members spread out, doing their best to locate each other without having to run into the other tributes. All his members were doing well, some of them pausing the search to create weapons for themselves, some trying to look for food.

Jeonghan sprinted into one direction, fast enough to explore the area quicker, while still trying to be quiet in order to not attract the attention of others.

Slash.

A sharp wooden spear came flying from nowhere, grazing the leader's arm. Jeonghan hissed in pain, there was no way that that was a normal knife. He gripped the wound and looked around before he was tackled to the ground, the spear pointed against his throat.

The leader looked up at his attacker, reading the name and position embroidered on the male's uniform.

'Xu Minghao/The8'

Jeonghan met the eyes of the attacker, a merciless glare in his eyes. "Would you rather die here right now from this spear? Or would you like to suffer and die from my poison that entered your body him?"

"How touching that you're letting me choose how to die in such a threatening way." Jeonghan chuckled. "You have no idea who I am don't you?"

"And why would I care about who you are?" Minghao replies, pressing the spear harder against the leader's throat, puncturing Jeonghan's skin. Jeonghan let out a gasp as he felt a sticky substance from where the spear was at, he didn't need to see it to know that it was his own blood. "Well, you should care about who I am because if you knew who I was, you would've known better and just leave me be." He smiles and uses his ability to stop Minghao from moving, paralyzing him temporarily and getting him off of his body.

"You're t-the cursed one-" The attacker mumbled.

"Indeed I am." Jeonghan says as he ripped the sleeve of his uniform, tying it around his neck to slow down his bleeding. "Lucky for you, I'm not in the mood to kill yet. I'll leave you alone. You'll be able to move in a couple hours. Goodluck." He says, chuckling as he walked away from the attacker.

The leader continued to explore his surroundings, only to be caught in an illusion just a few hours after his first encounter with another tribute.

Hours into the match, the exact moment the leader was caught in an illusion, Seokmin felt an intense feeling that his leader was in danger. And he set out to find him.

Only to cross the paths of two other tributes.

He was sent into a fit of panic, and he froze on the spot.

"See hyung? I told you there was another tribute around here." The Oracle snapped his head towards the owner of the voice, seeing a male with dark brown hair, on his uniform the word 'Oracle' and the name 'Dino' were embroidered, the other male having 'Leader/Healer' and 'Hoshi' on his uniform.

Seokmin calmed down a bit after knowing that he encountered two people who were the least likely to attack him.

He was wrong.

The two ganged up on him and it all happened too fast. Seokmin was on the ground clutching his eyes that was burning in pain.

"You're a h-healer- You're supposed to h-heal people. N-not hurt them-" Seokmin says once he's steadied his breathing. "Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do." Hoshi shrugs as he nods at Dino, giving him a knowing look. Dino grabs a vial of water and opens it, splashing water on Seokmin's face. "The water will help with the pain." Hoshi mutters, a slight smirk appearing on his lips.

The Oracle removes his hands from his eyes, opening them slowly once the pain has subsided. But... He couldn't see anything.

He was blind.

"How dare you take away my sight..." The oracle weakly spat.

The two teammates erupt in laughter. "We wanted to have our fun with you." Dino says, trying to calm himself down as Hoshi crouched in front of Seokmin, holding onto his jaw.

"Fun time is over."

Snap.

Meanwhile, Jeonghan was still trapped in the middle of the illusion, a scene that Jeonghan had always dreamed of was happening to him right now. He was seated on a swing, next to the love of his life. And slowly they both leaned in. His wildest dream was about to happen, he wanted to stay in the moment forever.

A loud canon sound booms through the entire arena, followed by a robotic voice.

"Two Oracles have been eliminated."

That statement snapped Jeonghan out from the illusion. He realized he was in the match and what has happened was all fake. Rage and worry filled his system and he unleashed his smoke, hearing the screams of the trickster responsible of the illusion. And he kept going. Until the illusion was gone and the screams were no more.

The leader walked up to the dead body hidden by some fallen trees, reading the name of his first victim.

Wen Junhui.

Another canon.

"A trickster has been eliminated."

He suddenly remembered the robotic voice alerting them of the elimination of two oracles and he started running frantically looking for Seokmin.

He stumbled and fell, landing next to a body. Eyes pitch black, neck snapped. He propped himself up, looking closely at the body, and then realization struck him.

"SEOKMIN NO!"

Calm down. Calm down. Calm down.

Jeonghan was chanting those words repeatedly like a mantra, but he couldn't do it. He wanted to. But seeing the fucked up look on his father's face made him feel otherwise. He broke eye contact with his father, knowing very well that he wouldn't be able to hold himself back if he continued to look at the monster in front of him.

Slap.

His right cheek was met with his father's rough palm. "Focus. Never ever take your eyes off your enemies. That's one of the ways you'll get killed. Are you so stupid that you can't remember even the most obvious strategies to stay alive?" His father spat at his face. "Are you really my son? Are you sure you're not one of those brainless peasants out there? Because right now you're being like them." He pressed a finger against Jeonghan's forehead, pushing against it harshly. "You fucking listen to me."

"You don't deserve to be part of the sacred families. You are a disappointment to me. I despise you and your whole existence. You hear me? You understand me?!"

Jeonghan looked up at his father's face that was a violent shade of red. "Yes father." The future leader answered.

"Now. We need to strengthen your weak self. I'm training you to kill. I want you to end up with the tribute with the most kills in the arena." Jeonghan sighed, "But I don't want to kill. I think it's just enough to attack as a form of defense."

His father's jaw clenched before he relaxed, letting out a small smirk. His father new he'd have no trouble in changing his son's mind. All he had to do was use his ability on Jeonghan.

One of the cursed abilities. Mind infiltration.

And so he did. He used it on his son. Making sure to bury it deep in his mind, along with a bit more of his principles. "It's easier to teach you this way son. I like it very much."

Jeonghan was doing his best to fight back but it was no use. His father was too strong, and he was too weak.

His father didn't forget to force Jeonghan to the peak of his abilities, and Jeonghan felt it all. How it was too much for his immature body. How it started to be too painful for him.

"I'm done with teaching you. But I noticed how you still tried to go against what I was marking in that stupid head of yours." He scoffed. "You're aware of what happens when you go against me right son? Answer me."

"I get punished." Jeonghan answers with a shaky breath.

His father smiles wickedly and activated his abilities once more, but this time it was to control his son. He was going to make his son punish and torture himself. Nothing more was pleasing to him. And the fact that three of the cursed abilities were present in his son, made it more exciting for him.

Three cursed abilities. One activated.

The ability to make anything stop functioning.

His father chuckled, taking his physical abilities away from him. He made his son stop moving, yet he kept his son's mouth open, in order to hear the screams that seemed like music to his ears.

Tears escaped Jeonghan's eyes. He knew he'd feel more than this.

The 2nd ability. Activated as well.

The smoke, and the extreme pain it causes... Suffocation.

Red and black smoke escaped from Jeonghan's fingertips which immediately surrounded him. His father retracted the first ability for a split second, Jeonghan's knees buckled, making the future leader fall down on his knees as screams of pain erupted from his lips.

Too much of the smoke will suffocate Jeonghan. Still, his father continued.

More wails and screams. And the final ability activated at last.

Draining one's life force.

His father didn't plan on draining all of his son's own life force. But he wanted to make his son fear him.

Jeonghan's eyes widened as he felt himself get weaker. He was gasping. Trying to breathe in more air as if it could keep himself alive.

But something in him broke.

And he became uncontrollable.

He broke free from his father's control and unleashed his abilities. Stopping at nothing. Even he himself couldn't control his own abilities. The smoke filled the room and seeped through the door and spread. He suddenly felt a surge of strength.

Thud, and then Silence.

Jeonghan finally figured out how to retract his abilities. The smoke faded.

He was met with his father's dead body on the floor.

He froze, letting out a choked sob before running downstairs to get help from his mother and brother, only to be greeted with their lifeless bodies sprawled out on the floor.

"What have I done?"

Toute sa faute

"It's my fault."

He whispered to himself quietly after Seokmin's outburst before leaving the oracle alone.

The room was filled with choking sounds as he suffocated himself with his own ability; as punishment for his mistake towards seokmin.

Just like how his father made him do whenever he did something wrong.

A few days pass.

Joshua almost died.

"It's my fault."

Loud screams ricocheted on the walls as he inflicted the pain of his cursed smoke on himself.

He thought he deserved it.

He left after hearing about Woozi and Seungkwan. He fled to his late parent's mansion.

"It's my fault."

All three abilities. He used them on his self. Non stop for three days. He tortured himself. He tortured himself until his body was all bruised up and cut up from the smoke trying to enter his skin. Until he thought it was enough for what he did.

What was enough for him though... Was enough to kill a normal malachite.

But so he returned, his entire body bruised and wounded, clothes ripped apart, blood dripping from his fingers.

"It was my fault."

"And I'm sorry."

Despite of the unfortunate events happening to most of the tributes, one of them remained calm and happy. He still played tricks on the others, as if there was nothing wrong. He was still his old bubbly self that never took things seriously. As the youngest of the group, he was always the one that the others put their attention on. And this demeanour of his didn't go unnoticed by Seokmin.

"Are you seriously acting like nothing is wrong Kwanie? Or are you playing blind so it doesn't affect you? Do you not feel any negative feelings about the recent happenings? To me? To Joshua Hyung? To Woozi hyung? Or are you not concerned that Jeonghan hyung has been missing for at least two days?" The oracle questioned calmly, although it was obvious that Seokmin was getting a bit offended with the younger's actions.

"Oh not at all. Things like that happens and we just need to deal with it or ignore it. So here I am, ignoring it because there's nothing I can do to be honest." Seungkwan shrugged. "Plus, my life is perfect so why would I burden myself with this?" The trickster says before rolling his eyes and just walking away from the Oracle who was caught of guard.

Who could blame him? He didn't want any stress to keep him from living his happy and perfect life where he had all the things he wanted.

But little did they know...

He had no parents like how he told them. He had no mansion, no perfect friends, he had nothing. Yet he managed to keep up this façade of his.

Well, he is a trickster after all.

And behind the confident and proud Seungkwan that everyone knew, was a troubled and broken trickster that hid behind a perfect illusion of himself. He was deeply affected of what happened to his members and he didn't want to cause others more pain and burden from how immense the events had affected him.

He's been at it for days...

Jihoon was distraught. First it was Seokmin, then Joshua, then him. Next will be seungkwan. And lastly their leader?

He couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't bear to see his members, that was like brothers to him; be hurt anymore. And now one of them are in critical stage and could pass at any moment; it drove him insane.

He can't let this happen. He can't.

Not again.

The memories. The memories. The memories.

They're coming back again.

He wants them to stop.

Jihoon was out in the woods with his little brother. Training their powers together. "Jihoon hyung, I wanna train as much as I can! I wanna be part of the match when I grow older so I can show how strong I am!" His brother, who had the ability to control all things with magnetic components, had dreamed about the décès match for as long as he could remember.

And so they did train. Everyday at the same time and place in the forest. But his brother mentioned about this tugging sensation on him. Like it was pulling him deep into the forest. His little brother said he'd check it out for a bit and that Jihoon could go after if he wanted to. The attacker was tired so he decided to stay and wait for his brother to come back.

20 minutes passed and his brother was still not back. Jihoon stood up and followed to where he saw him going, as he got deeper into the forest, the crunching sound in the air was getting louder. And to his shock, he discovered his brother, levitating in the middle of the air, surrounded by big and small debris; his face had a blank expression and his eyes were ghostly white.

And in a split second, he fell.

Power limit. Power limit. Power limit.

Jihoon snapped out of his trance as a doctor shook him, informing him that Joshua had been doing better and he's almost reached consciousness.

The attacker was relieved.

He didn't want to lose another brother to the power limit.

Never again.

Those were the words Joshua kept whispering to himself again and again. It's been 10 hours since they've started. Jeonghan and Jihoon are still in combat. And while they were at it, they noticed that they haven't paid too much attention to the healer. So with one hand, Jihoon send shards of ice towards Joshua, and with the other hand he sent lightning towards the leader. The eldest of the three unleashed the smoke from the tips of his fingers, effectively making the two writhe in pain.

"Why do they have to train me like this? I'm not an attacker. I can't fight back. I'm a healer."

Those were the thoughts that kept running through his mind as he tried countering the leader's ability with his healing light. When the leader thought they'd had enough, he retracted the smoke and called for a break time. "Joshua. Come here and heal the both of us. Now. Come on." The leader commanded. And his weakened legs carried himself towards the leader and attacker, placing his hands on them, sending rays of healing light through both their bodies.

The effect of his healing was immediately noticeable. Both of the men were no longer panting, the wounds on both of their body already closed up. The healer wished it was the same for him. After the short break, they continued despite their healer's weakened condition.

The fighting, the arguing, the hiding, the healing, it all went on for another 4 hours, and by then the healer could barely stand.

"I healed them. I healed them. I healed them. But it's not enough, they're still wounded. I still need to heal them."

The other two did not seem to hear Joshua's shaky and barely audible voice. So they continued. It was only when Joshua held them with his weak hands did they stop. Both males were filled by his healing light once more, Jihoon; who realized what the healer was doing, was about to protest but it was too late. The healer had used up all his remaining energy to heal them, causing Joshua to collapse on the floor.

"Hyung! You made him go over the fucking power limit!" The attacker yelled, shaking the leader by the shoulders before dropping down to tend to the healer. Joshua was gasping for air, body limp from the exhaustion, irises slowly turning to white as he struggled to keep his eyes open. "Shua hyung, keep your eyes open for me okay? I know you're tired but please stay awake. Stay awake for all of us." The attacker begged, cupping Joshua's cheeks lightly.

The leader just watched silently. Not bothering to ask if the healer was okay nor actually help the attacker in tending to him. "Yah hyung! Are you just gonna stand there and watch while doing nothing?! Even if you were the reason for this?!?" Jihoon yelled at Jeonghan as he had trouble picking the larger male up.

"Yes." The leader answered as he left the two males alone. Disappearing in the hallways of the big Academy.

Jihoon watched in disbelief as their leader left without care, creating a bubbling rage inside of him. Until he heard a gasp, and soon was met with Joshua's pale face.

His eyes were closed.

"SHUA HYUNG!" Jihoon called out loudly, the adrenaline from the moment giving him a surge of sudden strength, making him able to pick the healer up and take him to the nearest open clinic.

"Power limit!" The attacker yelled at the doctors, not even bothering to tell them what exactly happened. The doctors carefully helped place Joshua onto the stretcher, rolling him away from Jihoon who was still in angered and in shock from their leader's actions.

Hours passed before the doctor came out with a worried expression. "I don't know what to say. His vitals are still unstable. He used up almost all of his life force. One second later and he could've died. I can't promise you anything. But we're doing our best. We'll update you when we can."

Jihoon let out a frustrated sigh. He couldn't believe they had let this happen. But he knew there was one to be blamed the most.

Jeonghan.

I can hear them. Can't they hear me too? Huh? What's that?

23 years ago, a healthy baby boy was born. He was named Lee Seokmin but usually went by Dk or Dokyeom. Seokmin was the son of two Oracles. His father was a winner of the 76th décès match, he had the ability to foresee one's actions, and his mother had the ability to foresee the future. His parents were both well known in their region, they both worked for the Malachite government and they certainly were the best in their field.

Seokmin showed signs of being an Oracle from a very young age which pleased his parents. They knew, and everybody else knew that he would be far more skilled from his parents's combined abilities. When he was in his late teens, His father would sometimes take time off his job just to train Seokmin with his abilities; it was a dream of his father for his son to also compete in the décès match and he made it very clear.

"One more time son." His father said, stepping forward to throw a punch to a random part of Seokmin's body. "Guess where I'm gonna hit you next." Seokmin used his abilities as much as he could to try and foresee where his father was gonna hit him but to no avail. Seokmin ended up with multiple cuts and bruises all over his body and face. "Son you're not trying hard enough. You're almost of age for the décès match yet you can use your abilities at will? What's wrong with you?" Seokmin just hung his head low, not being to answer his father because he himself had no idea what was wrong with him. "Just get out of my sight. Now." His father said through gritted teeth, Seokmin followed; as there was not much else he could do.

Later that night, Seokmin was passing by the hallway when he heard two people arguing, assuming that it was his parents, his curiosity got the better of him and he walked towards the room they were in to listen to them. As he got closer, he could feel regret. He had a strong feeling that he might regret listening in, and he also felt regret from one of his parents.

The exhaustion and frustration was getting too much and it was starting to take a toll on Seokmin. And the fact that his leader Jeonghan; kept criticizing how he improved so little, certainly didn't help at all.

Seokmin was deep in thought about how he couldn't improve. He was doing his best to use his abilities exactly like how his parents taught him. Yet it didn't work. He's never improved apart from the random moments he foresees. He was starting to hate himself and get even more frustrated from all of it. He kept thinking to himself what could be wrong with his abilities. But then it hit him- What if he was the wrong one about his abilities? Seokmin stood up, planning to act upon his new theory.

Until he was harshly snapped at by his leader.

"Yah Seokmin! Are you sure you're doing stuff to improve your abilities?! The match is in three months! Yet here you are zoning out instead of training when you are well aware that you have a skill set of a fucking elementary student. All of us have been working hard! Everyone is improving except you! Why don't you actually try for once! Aren't you the son of the best oracles in the region? Why don't you fucking act like it instead of being a disgrace to your fucking family!"

His leader's harsh words made something snap in him. And he answered back. Something that he never thought he'd do.

"I'm not!"

Jeonghan's brows furrowed. "Did you just answer back? And what the hell do you mean?!"

Seokmin grit his teeth and answered once more, voice raised even more. "I'm not the son of the best oracles in the region! Maybe one of them but not both! My father isn't my real father!! My mom had a fucking affair and got pregnant with me!! And the reason I couldn't improve was because I kept manifesting the wrong fucking ability! I can't foresee someone's actions! I got my mom's half of being able to foresee the future and the other half from my real dad which is being able to foresee one's status at a particular moment! Now do you fucking understand?! I just realized this now so don't throw more shit at me for not being able to figure it out sooner! Now will you leave me alone and let me figure things out?!?"

Jeonghan was caught off guard from Seokmin's outburst, not being able to say anything. Just leaving the room and giving him time to be alone.

As soon as his leader left the room, he dropped down onto his knees; sobbing.

"Why did I fucking say that? I've just exposed myself as an illegitimate child."

23 years ago, a healthy baby boy was born. He was named Lee Seokmin but usually went by Dk or Dokyeom. Seokmin was the son of two Oracles. His father was a winner of the 76th décès match, he had the ability to foresee one's actions, and his mother had the ability to foresee the future. His parents were both well known in their region, they both worked for the Malachite government and they certainly were the best in their field.

Seokmin showed signs of being an Oracle from a very young age which pleased his parents. They knew, and everybody else knew that he would be far more skilled from his parents's combined abilities. When he was in his late teens, His father would sometimes take time off his job just to train Seokmin with his abilities; it was a dream of his father for his son to also compete in the décès match and he made it very clear.

"One more time son." His father said, stepping forward to throw a punch to a random part of Seokmin's body. "Guess where I'm gonna hit you next." Seokmin used his abilities as much as he could to try and foresee where his father was gonna hit him but to no avail. Seokmin ended up with multiple cuts and bruises all over his body and face. "Son you're not trying hard enough. You're almost of age for the décès match yet you can use your abilities at will? What's wrong with you?" Seokmin just hung his head low, not being to answer his father because he himself had no idea what was wrong with him. "Just get out of my sight. Now." His father said through gritted teeth, Seokmin followed; as there was not much else he could do.

Later that night, Seokmin was passing by the hallway when he heard two people arguing, assuming that it was his parents, his curiosity got the better of him and he walked towards the room they were in to listen to them. As he got closer, he could feel regret. He had a strong feeling that he might regret listening in, and he also felt regret from one of his parents.
