The Cast of Betrayal Warming Up, 20th November 2019
Yes… I really did make crappy gifs from a grainy, out of focus and shaky video, purely for the Hiddles Strut… Don’t judge me!
#thatstride!
As promised sightly better versions of the gifs but sadly no real HD video so this is the best I can do.
Video from here, although it’s there for a limited time only. They might post some extracts from it later.

Bring it, babe.
Unauthorized recordings included?
Outdoor theatres next to a zoo and in the flight path of a major airport included? 😉
I could discuss any and all. I think you know my other hobby. The one that us unfortunately on hold for the foreseeable future.
What was the last show you saw live before the shutdown? And the last you saw at the above referenced theatre?
I feel like this is wrong, but I want to say the last thing I saw was Betrayal... I think back to what my fall and winter were like and yeah, I didn’t have much recreational fun (lots of work and the illness/death of a grandparent). Then lockdown hit. I was really looking forward to seeing & Juliet and a couple of shows in London, but obviously that didn’t happen.
Actually, that was my one and only visit to the above referenced theatre! I was just quoting some lines to my aunt a few weeks ago and we were cracking up, things still pop in my head. “YOU GO TOO FAR, NO ONE CAN TOUCH MY CORIOLANUS!!” 😂 “I will not allow you to cast aspersions on my wife, there were seven!”
I have seen the person in question since then, including braving the wilds of Indiana, the stinky Gulf Coast of Florida, the [[REDACTED]] of La Mirada, and so forth. Oh the days of carefree innocence.
Honestly, the first decade of 2000 was the golden era for me. Stokes in La Mancha, the OBC of Urinetown, Michael Ball in Chitty and his concerts in SLC, Tewks in the POTO tour...such good times.
How goes your hobby the last decade or two? I’ve tried my hand at it to varying levels of mediocre success. I imagine advancements in technology have made things easier?
Where to begin? Probably the obvious. Hamilton, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I was lucky enough to see it three times live. Harry Potter and the cursed child is a once on a lifetime spectacle. Yeah, the story is shit and could be a whole lot better, but omg, this is what theatre is about.
The good, something rotten, waitress, kinky boots
The bad, head over heels, pretty woman, dear evan Hansen
I'm still paying off my betrayal debt, I was in Manhattan at least once a week to see it.
I was in a Broadway house three days before shutdown. Two in fact. Did a double bill of hadestown (1st time) and six (for 2nd time on Broadway, 4th including London) .
I got shut out of seeing little shop of horror with Jeremy Jordan and Christian borle twice and assassins because of the pandemic.
For the tonys whenever they happen again (cries in harmony), pulling for moulin rouge, Aaron tveit and Adrienne Warren. (Shes goddess and I want to be her when I grow up)
One “brilliant” for each viewing, I see. :) I can’t offer any comment about HP as I am not familiar with the books or movies, but I am here for spectacle. Some of my best theatre memories are great spectacles that are terrible shows because exactly, this is what it’s about!
I am just really fond of Something Rotten, I’m pea green with envy that you got to see it I’m assuming with BDJ, et al? I was hoping to see the tour but I can’t stand Adam Pascal and I knew I would be so irritated the whole time about that, so I didn’t go. Yes, I am that kind of person.
Okay, I can’t tell you how nice it is to have someone say that about Dear Evan Hansen because no, thank you, return to sender. I can’t figure out Pasek and Paul; I turned off LaLa Land after about 15 minutes, but I really enjoy The Greatest Showman.
HAHA! Oh gosh, that’s the best kind of debt. My heart has a tiny crack in it that we didn’t get Tony Tom, it’s almost too painful to think about.
Do we need to put Six in the great spectacle category? I was hoping to see that as well.
Jeremy...we need to pass a law that keeps him in theatre and off tv. He needs to be singing. Aw, that is a bummer about Assassins. I was just revisiting the production with JB, what a cast that was.
Something rotten I saw a lot. I saw bdj at least twice, also saw his understudy. I love rob McClure too so I went and saw him a few times. Much like you i dislike Adam pascal and managed to skip him (I also saw aida about 30 times and purposely missed him every damn time). I saw will chase as Shakespeare once as well.
I love greatest showman, but really dislike pasek and Paul. I saw dear Evan hansen in February and it was dreadful. So much manufactured enotion and poor storytelling, and I was mad about missing Jordan fisher (because cutie! ) I too didn't care for lala land and that shit was written for me... love story, musical... how'did they go so far wrong?
Six isnt about the spectacle, but oh my is it fun. The music is so damn catchy. I was listening to the cast recording before I saw it in London. And then I saw it twice while I was there. (I tried for a third but they sold out the only free time I had. I was in to see betrayal obviously so I spent much of my time there) I'm still hoping tony tom but im not sure it's likely. I've been wrong before.
Back to six, it's a tiny little show with big costumes and great voices. But this little show was so much better than I ever thought when I listened to the music. There's a great message in it and I was embarrassed that I never really gave it the credit it deserved before seeing it. So inspiring and empowering. And too damn clever.
Can we get Jeremy to concentrate on theatre? Don't get me wrong. I loved having him on supergirl and he broke my heart weekly. But he belongs on stage. I got to see him in waitress which was really special. I saw that show too many times... and I saw a lot of great docs. Jeremy was unique.
The assassins I was supposed to see had an incredible cast. I don't knownof they're gonna end up doing it or not. But Steven Pasquale, will sweson and Welsley taylor were among the talented line, and I'm heartsick that I didn't get to see it. Its my favorite sondheim show.
I saw jb in phantom btw. I had a great conversation with him afterwards. I think i saw him at another thing. I can't remember... but we had another conversation somewhere. Wish I could remember. Frank wildhorn concert maybe? Hell, I can't remember.
If you're looking for good stuffs, pull out groundhog day, catch me if you can, and we'll jersey boys just because. Cher show was insanely fun. I have a talent crush on Tim Minchin so Matilda is a must too.
Yeah this Pasek and Paul thing is baffling, I don’t think there is another writing team or solo composer who has the same love it/hate it dynamic for me.
This is so funny, we have share so many opinions. I know people who absolutely love Adam and I’m sitting here trying not to cover my ears just thinking about that voice. I think there must be something different about my ears, I swear that there are voices that cause me almost physical pain and his is one of them. Did you see Matt Bogart?? He’s the only reason I listen to Aida.
I hope Six makes it through the pandemic, it really seems so unique.
We need to get someone to hypnotize Jeremy and erase TV from his mind. Maybe Seth Rudetsky? I hope we get him on stage in The Greatest Showman. Sometimes I think about current shows if they had been around 15, 20 years ago and I cast them. I’d put Doug and Hunter Foster as P.T. and Phillip.
I am not crazy about Sondheim but the two shows I do prefer of his are the ones that his fans often don’t care for, Passion and Assassins. Go figure.
Hhhmm...I seem to recall some Wildhorn thingie with people from Phantom? *thinking emoji*
I do enjoy NLB in Catch Me If You Can. Jersey Boys is fun, how in the world did they manage to suck out pretty much every ounce of that in the film version, so disappointing. A talent crush?! Hilarious.
You know who Matt bogart is?!?!!! He's my favorite Broadway performer, hands down. He's my tom hiddleston of the Broadway world before... you know... hiddleston. I saw Matt in a reading of wildhorns civil war while he was playing chris in miss Saigon (his Broadway debut). That began my complete and utter devotion to matt. I went to see him in miss Saigon, many times in civil war, many times in snokey joes cafe and he was my only radames (all 30 plus times). He was last in jersey Boys on Broadway and closed that. He's been doing smaller productions since. I've seen him lots of other things, into the woods, nick and Nora, camelot, carousel, I sing, summer of 42... generally any and all things matt bogat.
Indeed, I do! He was Mix CD worthy back in the day, I was especially fond of “Tell My Father” from his first solo album. It’s great to be able to follow someone’s career like that over the years. Yes, I noticed that he seems to be active in great regional theatres post-Jersey Boys. Have he and his wife done anything during lock down, like living room music or anything like that?
Not that I know of. He’s never been incredibly active on social media.
Hm. I guess it can be a job on its own to deal with something like, there are so many great singers/performers who aren’t active on SM and I wish they were, at least as it relates to their career and especially right now. I rented Oliver Tompsett’s lockdown concert and it was fantastic, I enjoyed it just as much (if not more) than others, including ones sponsored by the Met with the greatest opera singers of our time. Of course nothing can compare to a live, in-person experience. When that isn’t an option, these performance arts folks have to adapt if they want to flourish. Imagine if this had happened 20 years ago, someone like Doug Sills could have ruled Instagram with the following he had. 😀
Ive been purchasing tickets for the Seth concert series. He's had Jeremy Jordan, norm Lewis and Cheyenne Jackson so far and they've been glorious.
To add insult to injury I don't have power at home. The hurricane came through and took out a few towns. Somehow in my apartment I have nothing. No text, no Im, no phone, soooooo... im without anything right now. I leave my house, drive to a different town and everything is restored. Just no creature comforts at my house. Ugh!
Anyways, I'm going to ruminate on how great Douglas would have been on social media.

Bring it, babe.

It’s Friday, y’all. There’s a pandemic. I’m about to make myself a burrito. I feel like talking to internet friends or internet strangers. Ask me anything. I have hobbies/interests that I may or may not blog much...
Anyways... Reblog with interrogatives, send an Ask, do a good deed. I’m willing to bribe you with a free poncho or something (I make pretty stuff). And feel free to ask about Tom, I’m in the mood for being controversial, so I may be persuaded to give my opinion about his Loki hair. Oh yeah that’s right, it’s getting real and raw here tonight. 😛
I would love to hear your opinion on the Loki hair!
I’m a big Pass, thanks on that. It looks slimey. I don’t think the dark hair does anything for him, it looks harsh and washes him out. It’s kind of odd for me because if I could Build-A-Man like Build-A-Bear, he would have dark hair, no question. But for the Stupid Angel Face, natural color all the way. How about you?
Is that a breakfast casserole? 😃
What’s in it?
Yes, it is, basically. It’s crescent rolls, bacon (cooked separately, of course), cheese, milk, cream, eggs, and your choice of seasonings.
Well, it looks yummy. Breakfast is my favorite. You’ve inspired me to try a casserole this weekend.
Sadly, breakfast buffets are probably a thing of the past. My favorite thing about vacationing ad staying at hotels.
Yay! This the recipe I use, with modifications. I sort of do a half recipe, but I don’t cut back on the eggs. Or the bacon 😇 I like this because you don’t have to go through the tediousness of stuffing the rolls. Super easy. Also you can use sausage or ham or whichever you prefer.
Thanks! Printing it up!
I might just use sausage and ham. ;))
I could absolutely debate/discuss/fangirl musicals. They're my jam.
Dear Sir, I hope this letter finds you in good health and in a prosperous enough position to put wealth in the pockets of people like me down on their luck you see, that was my wife who you decided to-

Just a weird little reminder of something I wrote EIGHT YEARS AGO OMG.
