I really really want to improve my art skills, so I’m thinking of committing to a project I wanted to do for a while, which is illustrating my own fanfic. I want to take it on as a challenge to illustrate one or two moments per chapter. All of my art skills are in portraiture, but I want to illustrate full scenes and make my drawings more dynamic. So I feel like this is the best way.

So I guess I’ll start at the beginning of Relic and go from there. They definitely mean some of the drawings in the are going to be very bad. My apologies.

I’ve been doing a lot of theater work lately, and while backstage, I’ve been drawing a series of Sherlock Holmes actor…sketch…portraits? Not sure what else to call them. Ha ha. It started because one of my theater gigs is murder mystery-related. Sometimes Sherlock is literally a character.

Also, I’m just obsessed with Sherlock ha ha. Since I was 10.

Anyway, here are the drawings. Some are better than others.

I always find it hilarious when more recent adaptations of Sherlock Holmes makes Holmes the dreamy heartthrob/attractive one (not that he’s not a total catch) because my dudes, Watson is right there. He is literally like a Victorian wet dream, he is everything that classic Victorian period would find appealing- adventurous, fought for his country, learned, has groomed facial hair (legit that was like the equivalent of being 6’ tall today), polite. He’s got just enough “melancholy” (depression) and rakishness (gambling) to still be a gentleman but like a bad boy gentleman. A real Romantic (both romance how we think of it today and like Romanticism) archetype. If anyone is the heartthrob here, it is Watson.

Loki turned a circle, his face craned skyward.  It struck him that the priest could have taken him to any location to have their little chat.  [...] Had he brought Loki outside, with its lush sensory bouquet, because it made the possibility of escape seem so close? Loki could leave Bohara as it was—leave right now if he wanted—or he could...do something to help. The priest’s words haunted him.  The moon changes daily and yet it remains whole.  Why did it feel as though Zi Polk had been talking about him?

Chapter 8

Loki and Stephen go on a diplomatic mission to an isolated city on a tiny planet. Unfortunately, Stephen is no diplomat, Loki is sorely out of practice, and their friendship is on rocky ground. It's the worst possible time for someone to find a dead body on the beach. Chapter 8 - The Bliss

Against his better judgment, Loki follows the priest to a second location and learns a few things about Bohara and The Bliss.

A tragedy occurs.

And Stephen goes missing a second time.

Chapter 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

With thanks to @aurorawest for their beta work.

Another amazing chapter from one of my favorite writers. Wow! The humor, Loki’s inner dialogue, the intrigue, the unique story line? Love!

Aw 🥰
