WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out. I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music. I had my heart set on Joey King, Taylor Lautner and Presley Cash starring in it. Joey and Presley had been in the video for ‘Mean’ when they were 9 and 13 and they are back and so ridiculously bad ass!! Taytay is INCREDIBLE in this (didn’t have a stunt double!) and shout out to Tay Lautner for being so awesome to hang with on set. The Tale of 3 Taylors 😆 I always wanted to direct fight scenes/a heist storyline and had the most incredible time plotting this out with my amazing DP Jonathan Sela. So proud of this one.

thinking about folklore and evermore and how taylor was absolutely unhinged. writing cardigan in a few hours, tis the damn season while she was drunk in the middle of the night after filming the long pond session, aaron sending taylor the instrumental for willow as a gift and taylor writing a song out of it, peace being one vocal take, taylor waiting years to tell the rebekah harkness story and finally getting the chance after hearing tlgad instrumental, taylor hearing joe singing the chorus of betty and being intrigued, the secrecy of it all..she was so crazy for that and i don't know how we're alive

The Lavender Haze video is out now. There is lots of lavender. There is lots of haze. There is my incredible costar Laith Ashley who I absolutely adored working with. This was the first video I wrote out of the 3 that have been released, and this one really helped me conceptualize the world and mood of Midnights, like a sultry sleepless 70’s fever dream. Hope you like it 😁

I love the bait and switch on the cloud over her head. First you see her and it’s the cloud of depression hanging over her head keeping her up at night. But then you explore that cloud and learn that within that cloud actually there is this whole, sexy, weird, very lavender world up there to explore .. that’s so poetic and I love how it shows the duality of a human

is it too soon to discuss how track fives are obviously notoriously heartbreaking and hopeless… they’re poetic streams of consciousnesses, begging or questioning or proclaiming tragedy. and here we have you’re on your own kid, which starts out expressing inadequacy and emptiness, just to unexpectedly shift to an encouraging outro, flipping the entire notion of “track five” on its head to tell everyone while you may be on your own, you HAVE YOURSELF. and that will be enough if you let it. taylor taylor taylor you have done it again

fearless is so fucking good, like the idea of taking a genre reserved for straight white men objectifying women and bashing on femininity and making an album that both uplifts and explores being a stereotypical teenage girl, with all its highs and lows, the drama, the intensity, the tongue in cheek look at teen culture paired with the taking every moment of your life so goddam seriously. taylor swift became a national sensation on the backs of fairytales and football games and everything that teenage girls are made fun of for, and as a fandom we dont show it enough respect
