☔ Weather is impressed she went to so many colleges. A good percentage of the prisoners hadn’t even finished high school, and Geddie has been to eight colleges. Wow. “You must be smart,” Weather observes. He thinks of her as a genius. “What were you studying?”
He nods. He won’t think of her any differently. His best friend was a murderer, so who was he to judge? “I was sentenced for murder, but I don’t know who I supposedly killed.” But he wants to, so badly. It scares him that he might be capable of murder. “I know. I’ve tried to do something about it, but… Yeah.” It never works.
Wes smiles back. He likes have anything companion to help him out. A woman could go places he and Annasui can’t, and that would defiantly come in handy. Additionally, their budding friendship makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Weather is a sucker for friendship. He nods. “Thanks. I’ve got yours to.” With that, he turns around and heads back towards the chapel.
Geddie laughed at Weather’s first comment and waved a dismissive hand.
“Well, unfortunately, I never actually finished a degree at any of those places,” she replied. “I hadn’t declared a major at the time because I was still trying to figure out what to do while at this particular college. I’d previously been in music programs, studied chemistry, studied history, all sorts of things, looking for something that really resonated with me. Unfortunately, I haven’t found it yet.”
She listed to Weather, eyes locked onto him, nodding a bit. Weather seemed like the least likely person to murder someone. He was so easygoing and kind! But she supposed that even the kindest people had their limits when pressed hard enough.
“I wish there was something I could do to help you remember,” she said. “Even if it’s not the most pleasant thing to recall. I think if I were you, I’d be wondering the same thing. And knowing me, I’d probably go to some odd lengths to find out, even if it destroys me.”
She shrugged a shoulder then, and then followed him as he walked toward the chapel.
