THIS

Whether you’re profiting off it or not, AI generation softwares will always be cannibalizing real artists’ hard work and soullessly mashing them together. It’s not a matter of pride or being upset that people are getting paid for it (I mean we are still mad about that, could have been an artist’s JOB), we’re mad that people who don’t respect our craft have no problem stealing from us to reap its benefits, monetary or otherwise.

Artists spend YEARS building up their skill and learning how to create. These people either don’t want to pay artists their worth to create that custom product, or don’t want to bother taking the steps to learn. If it takes time or money they’re not interested, so they plagiarize the people who are taking their time and making the money.

In the end it’s just self-centeredness. They need to have what they want so they don’t care about how it affects other people.

All of this!!

And a friendly reminder to everyone: your art doesn't have to be "good" for you to make it or even for other people to enjoy it. If you want to make something for your kinks GO FOR IT! But make it yourself, if it isn't what you want it to be you can always learn and improve. Everyone starts somewhere, everyone needs to learn, but if you're going to stand on the shoulders of those before you, do it on your own two feet instead of having something artifical do it for you.

I can't find the tweet now, but a sentiment I once read and I will FOREVER repeat in the face of ai art is: "why should I care about something, that no one cared to create."

Seriously! Fuck off with the Ai art nonsense and this attitude of “well *I* didn’t personally steal anything and I was having FUN until you rained on my parade”.

You are responsible for your own actions and can’t keep feigning ignorance over how harmful Ai generators are towards the real creators that they rip off.

Part 6: Matter of Witches completed!

A bit of everything: a bit cold, a bit warm, a bit dark, a bit light... A lot very personal for the Boogeyman.

This one was quite a challenging one, setting hope for possible future healing... In as beliavable way as I was able to find.

Now it's up to you to decide if it works and fits:)

'you have a lot of silent lovers on this planet' - okay, great. but- speaking up would *really* be helpful sometimes. if people like the stuff i produce, i want to know. i feel like i've been shouting into a void recently.

yeah, admittedly, i probably should have just continued the godfathers story as it was instead of going on hiatus and starting it from scratch, but that old version wasn't that good and wasn't what i wanted it to be. and i worked really hard on v.2, and it's just- getting no response at all. 9 chapters, one comment?

and like- i feel like shit for dragging this out into the open, because *forced* compliments are some of the worst kinds an artist can receive slfkslkfjlsdf

i dunno man, i'm at a loss. that story will be published because it's done, and i'm working on book 2 now. and book 2 will come out on its own time. but really, it's hard to produce anything and get no response at all.

comments are ways for artists to feel less lonely. less like our art is for nothing. i'm doing these stories for me, but- the response has been so quiet. it's just disheartening.

Do you have any advice to give for those who are nervous to make comments?

Now that I've cooled down a bit, I can say that this is a very fair question to ask. Here's a list I've compiled if people are feeling stuck, using my latest chapter as an example.

Do you find the character relatable? If so, you can let us know. If an audience can connect with an original character, it's a good sign. If you don't relate to them, are they opening you up to a different perspective?

Are there any tidbits of language you liked that flowed really well or caught you off guard? If so, you can tell us. We like it when people point things out. A lot of writing isn't just about a story, but also trying to craft sentences that lead a reader in a particular direction. Does the line cause any suspense?

Does anything the antagonist says remind you of a personal situation, or something a friend has gone through before? You can tell us that.

Are there any literary devices you've spotted? The first scene is the mother character, Christina, telling her child to shut up, using 'hush' as a signal. In the second, Aziraphale uses the word 'hush' to indicate comfort and serenity. This was an intentional callback that demonstrated the difference between Aziraphale and Christina's parenting styles.

Does the character sound in character? Does the intonation, pacing, and word choice sound like Aziraphale? Point it out, if you'd like.

Are there any moments that make you feel excited, or happy? We love hearing people ramble about those moments too.

Essentially, the art of leaving comments is about paying attention to what you like in a story, and then cluing us on to it. And comments aren't just limited to these suggestions. They can be of any length, they can be articulate, or they can be feral rambles that you leave at three in the morning. 99% of us aren't terribly picky about comments. I've adored comments that were several paragraphs long, and I've adored comments that were nothing but keyboard smashes. I'm fine with either. You can tell us all of these things, you can tell us nothing of these things and instead talk about something else. There are very few types of comments that people don't like, but I'll go over the two biggest pet peeves I have:

  1. A 'give us more!' with nothing else attached. This isn't a compliment, it's more of a demand. And seeing as fanfic authors work for free, it just doesn't feel good.
  2. Giving constructive criticism when it wasn't asked for. (Honestly, this has a lot of variation to it, I like it when people point out grammar/spelling mistakes so I can patch them up. But if I get a comment that was like, 'This was okay, but why didn't you take the story in this direction? That'd be a lot more interesting,' then I'd probably be bummed out. Tread carefully if constructive criticism wasn't explicitly asked for.)

And, there you have it. Remember, this list isn't including everything, this is just a sampler. There's no specific format to this, it's all free form.

And... if you're feeling shy, and worried that you'll be bothering us, that's fair. Putting yourself out there for the author to see is very hard, and I totally understand where you'd be coming from. But I can promise you, you're not. The truth is, many of us who write put ourselves out there to be seen by others. And we want to be recognized. So- no, you won't bother us.

I love when Star Trek episodes are just CSI in space. Picard cosplays a detective just because. Odo reads crime novels for fun. They like it. It's great.

bro i've been into TNG lately and i love it so much
