guillermo del toro’s pinocchio is a beautiful film but my god no one has adapted that story like neverafter. you can never look at it the same way again after listening to lou wilson, a black man, explaining that he chose to play as pinocchio because it’s a story about a little boy who isn’t allowed to make mistakes. that in pinocchio's story, he is fundamentally barred from childhood at once upon a time. he must earn something that everyone else is granted from birth. the other boys get to tell lies and play and get into trouble, but when pinocchio does the same thing there are grave and violent consequences. his pinocchio is trying to understand why the world is so unfair, why the rules are so different for him, why everyone else gets to be a real boy.

and I think about it every day.

just learned there's a war going on in stardew valley with zero explanation and since the game swings wildly between anti-corporate utopianism and classic kill 3 skeletons for 100 gold this opens up some fascinating world-building possibilities, namely: 1. it's a regular war that's just kind of happening while you wake up each morning, tend to your radishes and then go fight monsters down level 80 of an abandoned mineshaft so you can get iridium for the wizard living in a mysterious tower behind your farm; or 2. it's a magic war that a regular guy named kent voluntarily left his family for, and if you complete his request for a fresh starfruit he'll start telling you about his ptsd

She is a 2-Spirit Inuk artist who is fundraising to access vital medical treatment for chemical burns and resulting pain & complications.

She’s been struggling to receive accessible care in a racist medical system, and she needs our support.
